00:04 Emmerdale viewers have taken to social media to express their delight at the return of

00:08 a much-loved character during a dramatic week of episodes.

00:12 In recent scenes, the identity of Craig Reed's killer was finally revealed, after a week

00:17 of episodes focused on the Dingle family.

00:21 During the episodes, viewers were treated to a number of flashbacks as the characters

00:25 gave their alibis, with several huge secrets being unveiled.

00:29 But one thing that caught viewers most by surprise was the return of DS Wise, who was

00:34 last seen on the ITV soap three years ago.

00:37 DS Wise first appeared on the show in 2016 and played an integral part in Aaron Dingle's

00:42 historic sexual abuse storyline.

00:45 When Aaron went to the police to report that his father, Gordon, had raped him as a child,

00:51 it was DS Wise who took charge of the investigation, and was the one to interview Aaron and interrogate

00:56 Gordon.

00:58 He made his final appearance during an episode of 20/20, but finally reappeared on screen

01:03 last night to the delight of fans.

01:05 This time, DS Wise was there to investigate Craig's murder, and arrived at Home Farm

01:10 to question Kim Tate after the body was found on her land.

01:14 As part of her interview, Kim revealed that her beloved horse had gone missing, before

01:19 it was later revealed to viewers that she had deliberately set it free after it had

01:23 kicked Craig, leaving him semi-conscious.

01:26 Other flashbacks then revealed that Kane Dingle was also in on it, having instructed Kim not

01:31 to call an ambulance and simply walk away, leaving Craig to die.

01:35 As it stands, Sam Dingle believes that he was the one to kill Craig, having badly beaten

01:40 him earlier that day.
