00:29 All right, so we're now behind the wheel of the 2010 Ford
00:31 Mustang GT.
00:32 And as you saw in our last video, there's been
00:34 significant revisions on the exterior and interior of this
00:37 car over the last generation.
00:39 On the outside, the car is a lot sleeker.
00:40 Ford designers spent a lot of time cleaning up the air on
00:43 this car, and the overall look is a lot more aggressive.
00:45 On the inside, they spent a lot of time
00:47 upping the refinement.
00:49 The car has a lot more softer touch materials and generally
00:51 better controls for a much higher end, sophisticated feel.
00:56 There are some carrier features, however, mostly
00:58 dealing with the powertrain.
00:59 This car still has the same 4.6 liter V8 engine and five
01:03 speed manual and five speed automatic carried over from
01:05 the last generation.
01:06 Although, this car is based on the bullet version, which
01:09 means it has 315 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque.
01:13 [TIRES SCREECHING]
01:17 There are some new features, though, including an induction
01:19 pipe that runs from the air box into the cabin, piping in
01:21 a lot of the sound that was missing in the previous
01:23 generation Ford Mustang.
01:25 What Ford engineers did is made this car a lot more quiet.
01:28 They reduced a lot of the vibration and harshness.
01:30 And as a result, they thought that they lost
01:32 some of the character.
01:32 So what they did is they hooked up a pipe that brings
01:35 engine noise and a little bit of vibration
01:37 back into the cabin.
01:38 At wide open throttle, it really does sound great.
01:40 [ENGINE REVVING]
01:43 As far as driving is concerned, this car is head
01:45 and shoulders above the previous
01:47 generation Ford Mustang.
01:49 That's mainly to do with the suspension of course.
01:51 The car is a lot tighter.
01:52 It corners a lot sharper because the spring rates are
01:55 increased, as is the dampening.
01:57 What this means is that the car now corners very flat.
01:59 And under braking, it doesn't dive quite as much.
02:02 Even on hard launches, you don't rock back as much as
02:05 you used to in the previous generation Mustang GT.
02:07 It's a really nice ride.
02:09 So we know it feels fast.
02:11 But we wanted to find out exactly how fast.
02:13 So we took our Mustang GT to an abandoned stretch of
02:15 highway and let her rip.
02:17 [TIRES SCREECHING]
02:18 [ENGINE REVVING]
02:21 The results?
02:22 5.2 seconds to 60 and a quarter mile time of 13.7
02:26 seconds at 103.7 miles per hour.
02:29 Pretty impressive.
02:31 [TIRES SCREECHING]
02:33 So overall, the 2010 Ford Mustang GT represents an
02:36 enormous improvement over the previous generation car.
02:38 [TIRES SCREECHING]
02:41 Again, it's sleeker on the outside.
02:43 It looks much more aggressive and tighter, yet still
02:45 retaining that retro cool.
02:46 On the inside, it's far more sophisticated, far more
02:49 refined.
02:49 It feels great.
02:51 And the drive is also very surprising.
02:53 It's very tight, very well-balanced, and really has
02:55 that muscle car feel.
02:56 [TIRES SCREECHING]
02:58 [MUSIC PLAYING]
03:04 But is it enough to take on the Dodge Challenger and
03:07 Chevrolet Camaro?
03:09 We'll just have to see when we get all three together for a
03:11 muscle car shootout.
