00:00 I heard that there's a possibility of a refund on the electric bill before the end of the year.

00:05 And that's because of the unauthorized transfer of some expenses of NGCP to the consumer.

00:11 The details of the news was brought to you by Sandra Aguinaldo.

00:14 In the transmission lines run by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines or NGCP,

00:23 the distribution of electricity is under control.

00:25 But in the regulatory review of the Energy Regulatory Commission or ERC,

00:31 the expenses of NGCP transferred to the public were covered,

00:35 which has nothing to do with the transmission of electricity.

00:39 The total amount is Php 2.4 billion that was used for corporate social responsibility or CSR,

00:47 public relations, and donations.

00:50 CSR is called for projects for the public or for social or environmental assistance.

00:56 But according to the ERC, it's not right.

00:59 That's why they don't allow the NGCP to do this.

01:03 They don't allow the expenses to be transferred to the consumer.

01:07 There's no benefit to the consumer,

01:09 just like the advertising expenses and COVID-19 donations.

01:14 As a result of its partial review by the NGCP,

01:18 the ERC also reduced the claimed operating and maintenance expenses of the NGCP.

01:24 The ERC also reduced the total allowable revenues of the NGCP to Php 183.49 billion

01:32 from the claimed Php 387.80 billion from 2016 to 2020.

01:39 The question is, what is the effect of this on the electric bill of consumers?

01:44 According to the ERC, they will wait for the comment of the NGCP and the public on their findings before it is approved.

01:52 If their first findings are not changed, the consumers will have a refund.

01:58 They say that the target is to finish this process before the year ends.

02:02 According to the NGCP, they will study the ERC's first findings before releasing the statement.
