00:00 Newcastle United's Champions League hopes hang in the balance following a 2-0 defeat
00:06 away at the Signal Iduna Park against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.
00:11 United were unlucky not to be level in the second half when Joe Linton spurned a golden
00:15 chance and were punished later on.
00:18 Milan's win against PSG does keep the whole group alive however.
00:22 The Magpies face Bournemouth on Saturday but will be without Bruno Gimaraes on the south
00:27 coast due to a suspension.
00:32 Sunderland welcome Wayne Rooney's Birmingham City to the Stadium of Light for the early
00:36 kick-off on Saturday with Tony Mowbray answering my questions on Nizari Roussin, the international
00:42 break and the return of large-scale pre-match displays by the spirit of 37.
00:47 "Naz is a lovely lad, I was going to call him a kid, he's not a kid, he's 24, 25 now
00:54 isn't he?
00:55 But he's alright, he's quite tidy with the ball, he's direct, he wants to run it behind,
01:00 he knows that his job is to try and score goals and be on the end of the middle of the
01:04 loose and the wide players create and if they eliminate he has to get in the box and score
01:08 the goals.
01:09 He doesn't carry any edges with him Naz, he's just, he generally gets one word answers,
01:18 yes, when you say you're going to do this and you get in the box and score, yes.
01:24 So listen, he's lovely, I just hope for him, he can find, get on the end of something and
01:31 he's so nearly been on the end of things.
01:33 You know I don't think that deep about it, they are what they are, sometimes you think
01:37 oh, we'll do some work, team, and yet, no, who's going to be away?
01:42 Hulme's going to be away, Ballard's going to be away, Huggins is going to be away, you
01:46 can't do any work with the back line really, unless you use the young players on the periphery
01:51 which of course you're constantly working with them every day anyway.
01:56 Work with strikers, yeah, we do that, we do that every day as well.
02:03 So really you're talking about team work and you can't work your team until probably the
02:07 Thursday, the supporters really are the main thing for me at this football club, when anybody
02:12 says what's it like in Sunderland, it's an amazing club and what makes it is the people,
02:16 really the fans, the supporters, it's quite an incredible football club, they deserve
02:20 to be playing in the Premier League, and that's part of the journey that we are on, to try
02:25 and see if we can get this club back to where it belongs, where the state belongs, you have
02:31 to do it on the grass, on the football pitch, undoubtedly the supporters who can't affect
02:35 what goes on on the football pitch other than support the players, it's quite an amazing
02:39 club, so it doesn't surprise me if the supporters are doing something special.
02:48 Middlesbrough meet Leicester City this weekend, knowing that the league leaders were beaten
02:52 for only the second time of the season against Leeds.
02:55 On Friday, boss Michael Carrick has also been nominated for the Championship Manager of
03:00 the Month award.
