The best armor in God of War Ragnarök you can only get in the late game. However early game armor is still good for damage, defense, and health for a good while.

00:00 Armour builds are a much bigger part of Ragnarok than they were in the previous game, with
00:03 players choosing armour depending on what they want the God of War to be capable of.
00:07 Your playstyle here really is going to be best suited by different types of armour,
00:12 so there isn't going to be one catch-all armour for everyone. Depending on what you
00:15 like to do and how you like to fight, you'll end up finding an armour set or various pieces
00:20 that work best for you. However, to give you a good idea of what's available and things
00:24 that you might like, here is a selection of armour sets for players to choose from, with
00:28 options for the early game, the mid game and the late game, things like best for aggro
00:32 and defence, and a best armour set overall.
00:36 Something else that you need to know is that armour comes in many forms, and a single set
00:39 usually has a very particular function and synergy. For example, in the Lunda set, the
00:44 chest piece grants poison effects to Kratos, while the wrist and waist pieces increase
00:48 damage done to poisoned enemies. Consequently, there is rarely any advantage to mixing up
00:53 different bits of armour from different sets, as they are unlikely to pair as well together
00:57 as armour specifically from the same set. So, keep the armour together if you can.
01:02 So for the best God of War Ragnarok armour that you can get, the Steinborn armour set
01:06 is fantastic, but it's from the late game and final sequences of God of War Ragnarok.
01:11 There's nothing better that we could find in this incredibly resilient armour set. It's
01:14 a resilient build that actually grants more defence than the UI bar can even show, as
01:19 well as granting lifesteal and stunning shockwaves when Kratos takes damage. Which won't matter
01:24 much because your defence is so high, so not only will even the toughest bosses do piddling
01:30 damage when they hit you, Kratos auto-retaliates and even gets health back from hitting them.
01:35 So how do you get this amazing armour? Well, once you have the Draupnir spear, head to
01:39 the Lake of the Nine of Midgard, and at its southern edge behind some breakable ice, you'll
01:43 find the Mystical Heirloom, which can be used to awaken four trolls frozen as statues. The
01:48 slumber stones they drop can be turned at any blacksmiths into this tanky armour. If
01:52 you're having trouble finding them, check out the video in the description below that
01:56 we've linked and is a full guide to getting this amazing armour set.
02:00 The best mid-game armour is Lunda's armour set. Lunda's armour is pretty great for a
02:04 few reasons. First of all, you can get it pretty early on, but more importantly, it's
02:09 a solid option for a multitude of reasons. The chest piece has a high chance to inflict
02:13 poison on unarmed attacks, parries and blocks, doing bonus damage and weakening enemies'
02:18 attacks, while the other two pieces increase all damage done to poisoned enemies. Plus,
02:22 the whole set nicely boosts strength and luck, among a few others. This will even carry you
02:26 comfortably into the late game if you're willing to upgrade it.
02:29 Now, how to get Lunda's armour set. To get Lunda's armour set, it's a reward for the
02:33 Lunda's Lost Armour labour, in which three damaged pieces of the armour are found around
02:38 the River Delta. This opens up after fighting the Nidhogg boss fight in Vannerheim. Just
02:43 go back to the smith's shop in Freya's cap to get it, then search the areas marked here
02:47 to find them as artefacts. Once you have them, head back to Lunda to get them all fixed up.
02:52 So, what's the best early game armour? It's basically the first optional set you can get.
02:57 The Dwarven Nidavellir set is designed to prove the value of doing side quests and favours,
03:02 and it does that nicely. A vitality and defence boosting set, the armour chest piece grants
03:07 health for stun grabbing enemies, while the wrists and trousers reduce the rate at which
03:11 stun bars drain, making it much easier to enact these health restoring finisher moves.
03:16 So, how to get this early armour set? This early game armour becomes accessible after
03:20 Mimir will have some dialogue prompting the start of the 'In Service of Asgard' favour,
03:25 which has you clear three mining rigs of enemies, and then destroy the rigs themselves, marked
03:29 on the map here. Take the ore that each rig drops back to the Haldra brothers, and they
03:34 can forge it into some shiny new armour for you, which should help you loads in the early
03:37 game.
03:38 So, what's the best offensive armour if you like doing high damage? Well, the Guarding
03:43 Light armour, aside from boosting strength, it also puts luck focused boosters on your
03:47 attacks. All attacks you do have a moderate chance to boost strength, runic or luck, as
03:52 well as having a chance to do critical hit explosions on every attack you make. With
03:56 fast hitting combos like the Blades of Chaos, you'll be getting these buffs and bursts constantly.
04:01 So, how do you get this offensive armour? Well, unsurprisingly it's part of the Guiding
04:05 Light favour in the Lake of the Nine, where you find runes and messages left behind by
04:09 Tyr on his destroyed statue. While not an official reward, right next to each message
04:14 which you can find on this map, is a buried treasure with one of the three armour pieces
04:19 in, glinting gold to make sure you don't miss them. So, all you have to do once you've
04:22 got this favour is go and pick them up, which is great!
04:25 So, if you want an armour set that's a bit more defensive, then the Raven Tyr's armour
04:29 is great. It's a reward for advancing through the Eyes of Odin questline. The Raven Tyr's
04:34 armour provides a very high defence, as well as a small chance to heal you on every hit
04:39 you land, as well as increasing the potency of all healing you get. If you pair it up
04:42 with the Leviathan Axe's grip of the Fallen Alchemist, which has a high chance to restore
04:47 health with every Serpent Snare attack, this turns into a great armour.
04:50 In order to get this health boosting armour, you only need to find 18 of Odin's Ravens.
04:55 Go to Niflheim, look under the Raven Tree, and you should be able to pop open some chests
04:59 to get the armour sets. If you need help finding any of the Ravens, we have a full video which
05:03 lists all of the ones you need to get throughout the whole game. Go and check out our YouTube
05:08 channel to find that Ravens video, which should help to get you at least the 18 you need for
05:12 this armour.
