00:02 - I don't know if you caught any of St. John's
00:05 in Michigan last night,
00:06 but we were having fun last week
00:08 'cause it was so cool here in the New York area
00:11 to see Karnosaka Arena so on fire.
00:14 I mean, Rick's opening night, yes, there was Stony Brook.
00:17 They blew them out.
00:18 They didn't cover, but they blew them out.
00:19 But they got a little bit of a dose of reality
00:22 with Michigan in the garden last night, Mike.
00:25 - Yeah, Michigan, we've seen teams,
00:28 and we'll see this a lot now in college basketball,
00:30 probably college football too,
00:31 but certainly in college hoops.
00:33 When you have all these teams transfer,
00:36 all these players transfer
00:38 and all these teams built with transfers,
00:40 we're gonna get it wrong on some teams.
00:42 So Maryland seemed like they had enough
00:45 to have a great start to their season
00:47 and have a significant year.
00:48 And you can't write them off yet
00:50 because there's still some very good players there,
00:52 but they're struggling to score at a mighty level.
00:55 And then there's Michigan, where Doug McDaniel,
00:57 when I first saw him play for the Wolverines last year,
01:01 he really had a kind of a breakthrough game
01:03 when I was working at Big Ten Network on Big Ten and beyond.
01:07 He had a breakthrough game,
01:08 and it looked like he was ready to sort of carry them towards
01:11 or drive them toward an NCAA tournament last year,
01:14 but he just wasn't physically ready, I don't think,
01:17 to handle 30 plus minutes a night in that league
01:21 as a point guard, but he's ready now.
01:23 Boy, was he good last night.
01:25 And I think the Wolverines are gonna be a surprise
01:27 on the upside.
