The Jawa Yezdi Street Rush event was an experience for Jawa and Yezdi customers who were looking to build their skill and ride on track, in a safe and controlled environment. The event was conducted by Jawa Yezdi, and the expert trainer was a seasoned professional, Mr. Rustom Patel. Vedant Jouhari takes us through the event and interviews a few riders to understand how it went for them and gets a chance to speak to Mr. Rustom Patel, too.

00:00 So riding on track is all about developing your own skills, pushing yourself to your
00:12 limits but in a controlled environment, being safe, always knowing what's around you and
00:17 with always having the safety precautions there.
00:19 We are at Arvani grid today for further Java ISD street rush.
00:23 Welcome to Drivespark, I'm Vedant Johari.
00:25 So what is the Java ISD street rush all about?
00:34 Well, it's all about developing your skills, honing your true potential, getting out whatever
00:40 you can in a safe environment, in a controlled environment, riding around track and there's
00:45 no better place than to do it at Arvani grid, one of the most technical tracks in Bangalore
00:50 with a bunch of twists and turns as long as a few good straights and fast corners.
00:55 So Java ISD called a bunch of their customers, a lot of the people who own these motorcycles
01:00 to actually see the potential of their motorcycles and to get what they can out of themselves
01:05 on the track and it came with the necessary safety standards with safety marshals and
01:12 a professional trainer, Mr. Rustam Patel.
01:14 He is a motocross racer hailing from Mumbai and he came down just for this event, just
01:20 to make sure it goes smoothly and to make sure that the riders are doing what they should
01:24 on track without really changing things up and going against the flow of what track riding
01:29 actually is.
01:30 We had around 50 participants over here and they went through a bunch of rounds.
01:36 First round was just to understand the track, to learn the track and to learn how the bike
01:41 handles on the track.
01:43 Following that, they got to push a little harder each round.
01:46 There were the three podium winners and these three podium winners from each round went
01:51 on to the semi-finals and then the winners from the semi-finals went on to race in the
01:55 finals.
01:56 Eight people in the finals on this track, it was thrilling to watch, it was great.
02:01 The riders were all pushing themselves, pushing the bike to its limit and at the end of it,
02:06 there were three winners, all of them males as there was only one female competitor.
02:11 But these three riders who came on top, the guy who came first actually, started first
02:16 but then stalled off the start line, dropped down to 8th position and slowly worked his
02:22 way back, slowly worked his way back to come back on top.
02:26 So riding on track is not just about going fast and opening the throttle, there's a lot
02:30 of mindset that's required, there's a lot of discipline that's required and if you have
02:37 the right discipline, if you have the right mindset and if you keep yourself calm in these
02:40 situations, you can come out on top.
02:44 Thanks to Java ESD, these three riders, all of them the first time on track, actually
02:48 got that feeling of victory, got that feeling of I can do it.
02:52 So it gives them that self-confidence to actually bring themselves up, to actually do that much
02:57 better and to actually see what they are capable of.
03:01 So this was pretty much the Java ESD Street Rush event and it was a huge success.
03:07 So thank you Java ESD for hosting us and thank you for calling us for the event and giving
03:11 us a chance as well to ride on track, to ride these beautiful machines on the track.
03:17 Hi, my name is Divya, by profession I'm a scientist and I've just come here for this
03:27 event called Street Rush which was organised by Java ESD.
03:30 Nice, so did you get a chance to participate in that?
03:33 Yes, I did.
03:34 How was your experience?
03:35 Amazing, it was exhilarating to be on the track.
03:38 This was my first time on tarmac, I've only tried dirt biking before this.
03:44 It's completely different from what I experienced here on the track.
03:48 And I had an amazing time, the rush was just beautiful.
03:53 So what bike you ride?
03:55 I ride a Java 42 and that's the bike that I ride.
03:59 How was it riding your own bike on track?
04:01 Beautiful, I mean there was a little bit of like, oh my god it's my bike, but then it
04:06 was just amazing.
04:07 Once you're out there, your mind is all clear and I just love my bike so much more now.
04:13 I understand, you've got to push it to its limit.
04:16 Yes, exactly.
04:17 I've never done this to my bike before.
04:20 You plan on taking this ahead, you plan on getting into more track days and all of that
04:24 stuff.
04:25 Yes, definitely.
04:26 This is not going to stop here for sure.
04:27 Great, great.
04:28 So addicting.
04:29 And so you were one of the only female participants, right?
04:32 So how did that feel?
04:33 Because you were surrounded by a bunch of the males on the track.
04:36 Yeah, I mean this was amazing.
04:38 I honestly did think that I wouldn't be the only one, but I turned out to be the only
04:42 one.
04:43 But it was amazing, I mean to be a part of, and it was so welcoming here, you know, I
04:47 didn't really feel like left out or like anything.
04:50 It was really nice.
04:51 The way they treated us, all the safety standards that was in place, really nice experience.
04:56 I mean riding on track, safety is one of the most important things.
05:00 Beautiful organization.
05:01 Great, that's all.
05:02 Thank you so much.
05:03 Thank you so much, nice meeting you.
05:04 Thank you for your time.
05:05 Thank you.
05:05 Thank you.
05:06 Okay, hi, my name is Rustam KRC Patel.
05:14 I have eight national titles of India and I've made India proud, three international
05:19 titles and it's a proud feeling to represent your country in motorsports.
05:23 Can't even imagine.
05:24 So, sir, how was this event?
05:27 The Jawa JSB Street Rush, so what's it all about and how do you think it went off?
05:32 See, I'll be very honest with you, I think it's hats off to JSD Jawa to organize such
05:37 a brilliant event called Street Rush out here.
05:40 It gives an opportunity for people not to race on streets because a lot of youngsters
05:44 are dying because of road accidents because they ride really crazy on streets.
05:49 So these companies, hats off to these guys that they are giving such a platform to the
05:53 youngsters and the customers to come on such a beautiful Arvani grid track, like we did
05:58 it on a big track in Hyderabad, the first time the Street Rush was in Hyderabad, the
06:03 second round was in Bangalore and I just got the news, the next round they are coming to
06:07 Mumbai, that's my city and then they want to do Goa, Delhi, so they want to do it all
06:12 pan India.
06:13 Keep expanding.
06:14 Exactly, keep expanding.
06:16 So what would you feel the major difference of riding on track and riding in the city
06:20 is like, in terms of the mindset, in terms of the skill, would you say that any beginner
06:25 can come and ride on track or would you say they need experience to come on track?
06:28 See I'll be very honest with you, it's an opportunity for beginners only, over here
06:33 we don't have an event where you are having national champions or big names riding over
06:40 here, this is a purely customer based event and a purely customer based event is, you
06:46 own a Java, you are welcome to come ride with an expert rider who gives you riding tips,
06:52 who teaches you how to ride, who rides with you, so this is like a big thing for newbies
06:57 because they have never ridden on track and 60% of the riders out here, they all said
07:02 that sir this was the first time in my life I rode on track, so they are going home with
07:07 a lot of learnings, they are going home with a smile on their face, luckily there were
07:12 no injuries, we did not use the ambulance nor the doctor and I think it's a brilliant
07:16 opportunity for all the newbies, the youngsters to feel what is track riding, so that is brilliant.
07:24 Last two questions, so what do you think of Arvani Grid as a track to learn how to ride?
07:30 I think Arvani Grid is a beautiful track and I personally feel that they are doing a great
07:35 job with the track, it's maintained well, it's a nice high speed technical track in
07:40 Bangalore and I think this is a very good track for newbies to come and practice out
07:44 here because I think it's a great opportunity for them to come and ride on this track and
07:50 any sport, let it be motorsports, table tennis, badminton, any sport, it is very very simple
07:56 that you have to practice, till you don't practice any sport, you are nowhere.
08:02 100%.
08:03 So yeah, that's the most important thing, you got to be in touch and you got to be in
08:06 practice with the sport.
08:07 Yes, and the last question, so what did you think of the competition on the track, of
08:11 the riders coming and riding, were you surprised with their skills or were you, what did you
08:16 expect of what you saw?
08:17 See honestly, I'll be very honest with you, I'm going to be very honest out here, honestly
08:21 you don't expect much from customers, okay, and they are customers at the end of the day
08:26 and 60% of them have like never seen a track or never ridden a track, so looking at them
08:33 ride on track and performing so well, I think I'm totally impressed but what impressed me
08:38 the most is you guys, you press guys were at a different level, you guys were just brilliant
08:44 and I just totally loved the way you all were riding and I totally felt that there was some
08:50 professionalism in you press guys when you all were actually racing and I think hats
08:55 off to you guys man, I think you guys have that in you, I could see you all punching
08:59 the throttle to the corners also and that comes out only with confidence, so I think
09:04 you won right?
09:05 Yes sir.
09:06 That was awesome, keep up the good work, have you done a lot of track riding?
09:10 I just started off this year itself, so I'm just getting into it slowly.
09:13 So continue it, you're quite lean, thin, you're fit, you gotta be fit, you gotta be thin,
09:18 if you wanna be a racer and you gotta be 100% committed to the sport and the love for the
09:23 sport that'll only get you there, because if you don't have the love for the sport,
09:27 you cannot reach anywhere.
09:28 100%, thank you so much sir for giving us this opportunity and thank you for training
09:32 us today.
09:33 The pleasure is all mine, I'll be coming back to Bengaluru very soon, so gonna see you guys
09:38 in large numbers, God bless.
09:40 Thank you.
09:41 Thank you.
09:41 Thank you.
09:41 Thank you.
09:43 Thank you.
09:44 Thank you.
09:46 Thank you.
09:47 Thank you.
09:48 Thank you.
