00:00 How did it start?
00:01 It all started with a badly timed ball joke!
00:04 [Laughter]
00:07 Welcome to WatchMojo,
00:08 and today we're counting down our picks for the most memorable,
00:11 iconic, and of course hilarious scenes from Whose Line Is It Anyway?
00:15 I don't know what to say!
00:17 Meow!
00:18 [Laughter]
00:22 Number 20, Three-Headed Broadway Star.
00:26 It's always a treat to watch Drew Carey get in on the improv fun with the cast,
00:30 especially to see him accidentally throw the rules out the window
00:33 to the delight of the audience.
00:35 You are my soulmate.
00:42 This musical game moment required each of the three
00:44 to sing one word at a time to complete a hit Broadway song.
00:47 [Music]
00:51 Ooh, consume time.
00:56 As they perform their fictional tune, You've Got Soul,
00:59 Drew seems to be keeping up until he blurts out,
01:02 And take me on a...
01:03 Oh, sorry, one more time.
01:06 This hilarious derailment might explain why Drew stays behind the desk
01:10 and lets the pros do their thing on stage.
01:12 [Laughter]
01:22 Number 19, Robin Williams cameo.
01:25 The great Robin Williams elevates absolutely everything he appears in.
01:29 Films, TV shows, and Whose Line Is It Anyway? improv games.
01:32 Cut, cut, cut!
01:34 I'm really having a hard time staying in character.
01:36 I know you are!
01:37 When Williams showed up on the show as a guest performer,
01:40 it was destined to spawn some incredible moments.
01:43 He brought his unmatched energy to an iconic game of props,
01:46 where he and Wayne worked together so naturally
01:48 it's hard to believe Robin wasn't part of the cast.
01:51 Bring her through!
01:52 Okay!
01:52 And of course, he nailed all of his one-liners in scenes from A Hat.
01:59 We're so glad that Robin Williams graced the show
02:01 with his unforgettable comedy chops.
02:03 What Robin Williams is thinking right now.
02:05 [Laughter]
02:07 I have a career, what the hell am I doing?
02:09 [Laughter]
02:12 Number 18, Batman comes out.
02:15 I am justice.
02:16 I am the night.
02:17 I am Colin Mockrey.
02:19 This epic game of press conference sets Colin up to answer questions
02:23 as a mystery guest of honor.
02:24 [Laughter]
02:26 I'm here to answer your questions to the fullest of my ability.
02:29 But of course, this is a mystery to Mockrey alone,
02:32 as the rest of the gang must subtly clue him in on who he's pretending to be.
02:36 They had treated me with a mixture of awe and disgust.
02:39 [Laughter]
02:40 Uh, but of course, I'm used to this, being in the political world.
02:45 Each of the interviewer's leading queries are perfectly crafted,
02:48 especially Ryan's play on Batman's signature "na-na-na-na-na-na-na."
02:52 Are you gonna rub it in the faces of your critics, say, by going "na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na"?
02:56 [Laughter]
02:59 Being the comic master that he is, Colin figures out his role
03:03 and ends the scene on a slam dunk of a pun.
03:06 Not as much because I have bruised my dynamic duo.
03:09 [Laughter]
03:13 Number 17.
03:14 Scene to rap.
03:15 How does food become poo?
03:17 [Laughter]
03:18 I'll tell you!
03:20 If you're tired of hearing us talk about how funny Colin Mockrey is at this point,
03:24 here's a fair warning.
03:25 We're not done talking about Colin Mockrey.
03:27 People who shouldn't rap.
03:28 Oh, boy.
03:29 [Laughter]
03:34 While he's a man of many talents,
03:36 we probably would contest him putting "rapper" on his resume.
03:40 Hey there, buddy!
03:41 Hey there, slugger!
03:42 Put up your hands, I'm a friendly mugger!
03:44 In this scene to rap,
03:45 he chaotically lists out random items using super basic rhymes.
03:49 But hey, it works.
03:50 Give me the bushes and give me the trees!
03:53 Give me the dogs with all the fleas!
03:55 Even though this game is squarely outside of Colin's comedic comfort zone,
03:58 he still manages to make it outrageously fun by fully committing to whatever pops into his head.
04:04 Can we get this rap on streaming, please?
04:05 Number 16.
04:07 The letter H.
04:08 One of these things doesn't belong to you!
04:14 When someone says "whose line is it anyway?"
04:17 the first game to come to anyone's mind is likely scenes from A Hat.
04:21 Drew pulls out a line suggestion,
04:23 and the cast must quickly riff on whatever is presented to them.
04:26 The subject of this round was if lessons of love and sex were taught in the style of Sesame Street,
04:31 and Colin and Ryan had a simple yet effective tutorial to teach.
04:35 We'll let you appreciate it by itself.
04:36 Obviously, this one easy move by the duo made the crowd go absolutely wild.
04:42 The letter H!
04:44 Number 15.
04:48 Pat Benatar.
04:49 Speaking of segues...
04:51 Wait, were we supposed to set up that joke?
04:53 Ah well, Colin and Ryan pair up for a game of greatest hits,
04:56 and Colin gets quickly fed up with Ryan's affinity for corny transitions.
05:00 I've got a bit of a bug.
05:01 Oh, and I'm a little jittery.
05:04 Oh, jittery bug!
05:05 Jittery bug!
05:06 Jitter bug!
05:07 Wow!
05:08 Nice segue.
05:09 And so he hits him with an ultra-forced but nevertheless super funny line about
05:16 bending a car as a means to introduce the style of Pat Benatar.
05:20 You know, I remember once I went to a circus and I saw the strong man bend a car.
05:24 Bend a car!
05:24 Pat Benatar!
05:26 Colin's smug grin says it all,
05:31 as this quip totally did its job and broke Ryan out of character.
05:35 Watching these two trip each other up never gets old.
05:38 Number 14.
05:40 Full Being Born.
05:41 A cornerstone of great improv comedy is the ability to completely transform into character,
05:46 no matter the scene or situation.
05:49 And Ryan Stiles gives us a master class in exactly that skill during this game of party quirks.
05:54 Hey, Greg, it's okay.
05:55 Hello, Ryan.
05:56 He's given the prompt to arrive at the party as a full being born,
06:00 and without hesitation he springs into action.
06:03 Everything about this moment is priceless.
06:10 Ryan's facial expressions and physical mannerisms,
06:12 Colin's commitment to his own character despite birthing Ryan,
06:16 and of course, Drew's contagious laugh.
06:19 Seriously, was Ryan studying for this role?
06:21 He nailed it.
06:22 Number 13.
06:24 Cabinet Meetings.
06:25 Sometimes the most brilliant one-liner is the one that's right under your nose.
06:30 This scene from a hat prompt challenged the cast to come up with what might be
06:33 on former United States President George W. Bush's mind during cabinet meetings.
06:37 What does the W stand for?
06:39 Whatever.
06:43 While each of the players had a great spin on the job,
06:47 Colin's retort is simply genius and right on the money.
06:50 There isn't even a cabinet in here.
06:53 In all seriousness, why do they call government committees cabinets anyway?
06:59 Regardless, the phrase will always make us think of this punchy moment from the series.
07:03 Number 12.
07:04 Horror Word.
07:05 Remember, there are no such things as mistakes,
07:08 just happy accidents, especially in improv comedy.
07:11 This scene starts out just as expected.
07:14 As Wayne Brady sings to audience member Howard while the other cast members dance along as the village people.
07:19 But when the chorus comes along, Brady accidentally spells Howard's name with an R, as...
07:32 Just when you think it couldn't get any funnier,
07:41 the tempo accidentally picks up at double time,
07:44 and the song just keeps getting more and more out of control.
07:47 The whole crew cannot help but break character and laugh.
07:55 Number 11.
08:02 Buddy Cop's sound effects.
08:04 Improv only gets funnier when you have incredible audience participation.
08:09 This game's sound effects require two folks from the crowd to come on down
08:13 and provide all the noises for Colin and Ryan as they act out a scene as buddy cops.
08:17 The two ladies that volunteered were a bit misguided,
08:27 but that made the scene hysterical.
08:29 The audience members were so excited that they were about to start crying.
08:33 The two ladies that volunteered were a bit misguided,
08:36 but that made the scene hysterical.
08:38 Throughout the game, you can see that Drew is in absolute stitches.
08:50 Colin and Ryan perfectly play into the noises, or absence of noises,
08:54 which made this scene a moment for the books.
09:02 Number 10.
09:03 Tapioca.
09:04 It's a tough call, but Greatest Hits might be our favorite
09:07 Whose Line Is It Anyway game ever.
09:09 When you combine the brilliance of Colin and Ryan riffing off each other
09:12 and cap it off with Wayne's musical ability, you simply can't lose.
09:16 While Colin and Ryan's comedic chemistry is often totally in step,
09:20 sometimes it's even more hilarious when they aren't picking up what the other is putting down.
09:24 What comes to mind when I say Ricky Ricardo and great cigars?
09:28 Oh, tapioca!
09:30 In this scene, Ryan attempts to prompt Colin to say Cuba,
09:36 but instead he blurts out a passionate tapioca.
09:39 Wasn't that his big song?
09:40 No, Colin.
09:47 We don't know how on earth he made that connection,
09:50 but who are we to question the mind of a genius?
09:52 I'm talking about Cuba!
09:54 Number 9.
09:58 Things You Can Say About Your Dog.
10:00 You just can't beat a short and sweet quip.
10:02 In yet another round of scenes from A Hat,
10:04 the crew is asked to recite things that they could say about their pets,
10:07 but not their partners.
10:08 What did you just do?
10:09 Colin steps up to the plate with a simply hilarious,
10:13 albeit a bit risque, one-word reply.
10:16 Come!
10:20 And with that response alone, he absolutely slays the crowd.
10:24 While we love to watch the cast act out wild situations,
10:27 it's so satisfying to see how clever these comedians can be
10:31 even in their briefest scenes.
10:32 Number 8.
10:38 The Cat.
10:39 This whose line is it anyway game is super underrated in our opinion.
10:43 In Mission Improbable, Colin and Ryan must turn an extremely basic task
10:47 into a top-secret spy mission.
10:49 The faucet's rigged!
10:50 With an explosion!
10:54 How long have you been a spy?
10:56 And in this scene, that task is the laundry.
10:59 This moment is a prime example of just how much comedic chemistry
11:02 the two comedians have with one another.
11:04 And of course, Colin passionately blurting out "The Cat" over and over
11:09 has us keeled over laughing.
11:10 Watch Wayne in the background of the scene.
11:17 He can't hold it together either.
11:18 The Cat!
11:19 Number 7.
11:24 Ryan's Carol Channing.
11:25 Okay, we admit it.
11:26 We can't single out just one of Ryan Stiles' best Carol Channing impressions.
11:30 They're all just too iconic.
11:32 If Carol Channing were president...
11:33 I never made love to that woman.
11:39 His impersonation of the late actress is so loved,
11:42 it became a running joke throughout the series.
11:45 I'm Sparty K's.
11:47 [Laughter]
11:49 Stiles is always successful in captivating the audience
11:52 as he channels the legendary star's distinctive voice and exuberant personality
11:56 and showcasing his own skills in the process.
11:59 If celebrities had been the first people to walk on the moon...
12:02 Well, this is dry and barren as I am!
12:05 [Laughter]
12:07 No matter how many times we've seen it,
12:09 fans of comedy and showbiz alike can appreciate this impeccable homage
12:13 to the stage and screen legend.
12:14 I'm sure help will come soon.
12:16 [Laughter]
12:17 Let's just all relax and try to build a hut.
12:20 Number 6.
12:21 Serenading the Lunch Lady.
12:23 If it isn't your dream to be serenaded by Wayne Brady,
12:26 then what is?
12:27 Not only is this moment a fantastic example of Brady's musical abilities,
12:31 it's impossible not to laugh along as he lists off various meets to sweet lunch lady Lee.
12:36 [Laughter]
12:46 The sensual song about such an unsexy subject matter
12:49 and performed to such a sweet looking lady is absolute comedy gold.
12:53 [Laughter]
12:58 Even Wayne himself can't keep a straight face as he's singing.
13:01 Of all the song Stiles performances from the series,
13:04 this one has to take the cake.
13:06 [Music]
13:21 Number 5.
13:22 News Flash.
13:23 There can never be too much Colin.
13:25 During this game of News Flash,
13:26 Colin must report on whatever is on the green screen behind him
13:29 without being able to see what it is.
13:32 Turns out it's a compilation of himself being, well, Colin.
13:35 [Laughter]
13:42 Ryan and Chip ask Colin leading questions to help him guess what he's witnessing,
13:46 accidentally setting up the perfect response.
13:48 "How did it start?"
13:50 "It all started with a badly timed ball joke."
13:52 [Laughter]
13:56 Once Colin finally figures it out,
13:58 Ryan and Chip can't help but laugh as the round continues.
14:01 "Have they made any plans? Is there any way to get rid of this thing?"
14:04 [Laughter]
14:06 "Well, there are a couple of scientists working on the formula."
14:11 Watching Colin unknowingly react to himself in horror is as funny as it gets.
14:16 Drew himself even comments that this game of News Flash was the best one ever.
14:20 [Applause]
14:21 "It's the best one ever. Colin, what is behind you?"
14:25 "I hope it's me with my clothes on."
14:27 [Laughter]
14:28 "Yes, it is!"
14:29 [Applause]
14:29 Number 4.
14:30 The Arctic Turn.
14:32 Colin misunderstands Ryan's cue to introduce the Who,
14:35 and instead hilariously attempts to impersonate an arctic tern.
14:39 "What kind of bird always says the name of our next band?"
14:42 Which, to Colin, allegedly makes the sound "Backstreet Boys."
14:45 This shocking answer brings the house down.
14:48 "An arctic tern?"
14:49 [Laughter]
14:50 "And what sound does an arctic tern make?"
14:52 "Backstreet Boys!"
14:55 [Laughter]
14:56 Particularly for Ryan, who takes about 30 seconds to fully recover and continue the game.
15:01 Ryan is so taken aback that he completely rejects Colin's response
15:05 and straight out tells him what he was looking for,
15:07 breaking the cardinal rule of improv, "Always say yes."
15:11 Colin is unfazed as per usual, but his ability to fully stop a scene
15:16 with his absurdly funny remarks makes this moment one of the greatest.
15:20 "That's wrong!"
15:21 [Laughter]
15:22 "Why won't you tell us what's right?"
15:24 [Laughter]
15:25 "I was thinking an owl.
15:27 Oh!
15:29 Who?
15:29 The Who is our next band on this series?"
15:31 [Laughter]
15:32 Number 3.
15:33 Ryan bangs his head.
15:35 In this game of party quirks,
15:36 Ryan does his classic Carol Channing impression with a new twist.
15:40 Her head keeps getting stuck to things.
15:42 "Hi, come on in."
15:43 "We thank you for inviting me."
15:44 [Laughter]
15:45 But when Ryan launches himself at Drew's desk, the neon light shatters.
15:49 "There's nothing worse than having a depressed Carol Channing at your party."
15:52 "No, no, no, it's all my life."
15:55 [Laughter]
15:56 "Oh!"
15:56 [Laughter]
15:58 His scene partner Kathy quickly breaks character to make sure he's okay,
16:02 but Ryan attaches himself right back onto the desk almost immediately to finish his joke.
16:07 Now that is commitment to the bit.
16:08 [Laughter]
16:10 "I'm fine, it's okay."
16:11 [Laughter]
16:13 Ryan handles this mishap like a champ
16:15 and cracks up everyone else in the cast with his eagerness and ability to continue the scene.
16:20 Number 2.
16:21 Jet skiing Richard Simmons.
16:23 "This is my favorite game, how about you all?"
16:26 [Cheering]
16:28 This cameo made its mark in the "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Hall of Fame for sure.
16:32 Richard Simmons takes the stage for a round of living scenery,
16:36 in which he must use his body to become all of the set pieces in the scene.
16:40 "Hey, why don't we look at the scenery through the little telescopes I have here?"
16:43 "Alright."
16:43 [Laughter]
16:48 This moment is simply a joy to watch.
16:50 It's obvious that everyone involved is having an absolute blast.
16:54 "This one wants more coins."
16:55 [Laughter]
16:58 All of Simmons' movements, faces, and choices are so outrageous
17:02 that the cast and the audience alike cannot keep it together.
17:05 Maybe Simmons should adopt a second career as an improv comedian.
17:09 [Cheering]

17:30 Number 1.
17:33 "Meow!"
17:33 Who can forget this chaotic round of Irish drinking song?
17:37 When it's Ryan's turn to sing his line,
17:39 he mocks Drew by spurting out incoherent gibberish,
17:42 leaving Wayne and Drew unable to say their lines.
17:45 "One night I was getting freaky."
17:47 "With my girl Elaine."
17:49 "Boy, we had some fun."
17:50 Colin picks it up for them with a cheery "Meow!"
17:55 stopping everyone in their tracks.
17:57 [Laughter]
18:01 After finally composing themselves and trying to continue,
18:03 Colin delivers a final "Meow!"
18:05 "I don't know what to say."
18:07 "Meow!"
18:08 [Laughter]
18:11 This moment truly captures the spirit of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"
18:14 as its unpredictable hilarity makes the viewer feel right in on the action with the cast.
18:19 Which of these moments makes you laugh the hardest?
18:22 Let us know in the comments.
18:24 "That caught silly paper, red hot chili peppers!"
