00:00 Nearly one year after the arrest of Ava Kylie, the Greek MEP`s lawyers are urging the European
00:07 Parliament to act by recognizing that her immunity was violated.
00:13 The attorneys allege that the former parliament vice president was illegally investigated
00:17 by the Belgian police and secret services since she still, as an MEP, retained parliamentary
00:22 immunity.
00:25 But with the decision still pending on the matter after Kylie brought it to the Belgian
00:28 courts, the lawyers are now threatening to take measures against the parliament.
00:33 The European Parliament has the duty to act now. They don`t have to postpone anymore.
00:39 They have to act now. If they don`t act, then we`ll take consequences, because we consider
00:43 it`s a fault. It`s a personal fault in - for the persons who are in charge in the parliament
00:50 for not just agending a hearing. It`s a personal fault. It`s a violation of EU law.
00:57 Kylie was arrested last December and charged with corruption, money laundering and involvement
01:01 in a criminal organization after hundreds of thousands of euros were found in her apartment.
01:08 She is alleged to have accepted cash from Qatar as well as from Morocco to influence
01:12 the parliament`s decisions.
01:15 Her lawyers now want to bring down the case due to what they describe as multiple investigative
01:20 errors by the Belgian authorities.
01:25 You can call this file anymore "Qatar gate". That`s over. You have to call the file "Belgian
01:34 gate".
01:38 Secret Services gave a report, they made a report that they give to the federal prosecutor
01:44 in April last year. What`s very important is that Eva Kylie, her name was not mentioned
01:58 in that report. So there was no suspicion against her. There were a lot of other suspicions
02:07 that are against other people, which in the beginning were not disturbed in this file.
02:16 Kylie`s team accused the judge who was previously in charge of the investigation of trying to
02:20 protect other MEPs. They also still strongly defend her innocence in the whole case.
02:28 A decision on the Greek MEP`s case brought against the Belgian authorities has been delayed
02:33 even as she still awaits trial.
