Thick As Thieves (1974) (Pilot Episode)
The Pilot episode of a short lived but intriguingly cast sitcom from 1974. George Dobbs is released from prison after a 3 year stretch, but finds his friends surprisingly edgy. Deciding to go home to surprise his wife, it is him who gets a shock he doesn't expect - his wife has now shacked up with his best mate!
Staring Bob Hoskins, John Thaw, Pat Ashton, Reg Lye, Johnny Briggs, Winnie Holman, John J Carney and Sue Bond (her from the early Benny Hill Shows). This is the only episode I have, and although it doesn't make for a riotous comedy, it is intriguing in it's casting of powerhouse stars Bob Hoskins and John Thaw, plus a pre-Coronation Street role for Johnny Briggs (aka Mike Baldwin). It was originally broadcast on June 1st 1974, and although it didn't prove a success, soon after John Thaw would appear in a TV series that would make his name - a certain ITV show called The Sweeney.
