Transcript
00:00 We are, as was mentioned, are on Wiradjuri country and as we know it is one of the biggest
00:09 tribes within the state of New South Wales, in this great state.
00:13 Without further ado, I also want to acknowledge country, I'm a proud Wiradjuri Yul-Ngunnawal
00:17 man and I also want to acknowledge that we are on Wiradjuri country.
00:21 Without further ado, I'd like to welcome the man, the legend himself, the four-time winner
00:25 of the knockout, a Wollongong Aboriginal Connection great, please make welcome Georgie Rose.
00:31 Thank you very much Luke, an absolute honour to be here today to announce, to make this
00:42 big announcement and I'd just like to let it rip mate.
00:46 The 2024 New South Wales Aboriginal Rugby League knockout will be held here in Bathurst,
00:52 New South Wales from October 4 to October 7.
00:57 We're absolutely honoured, it's a blessing on the Black family and we're really excited
01:02 to be coming here in what will be a great venue.
01:04 Can I just say, from 1971 to now, that is an incredible tournament that started with
01:11 only seven teams and St Peter's happens to be the suburb I grew up next to.
01:17 To then end up being on a stage like this is something very, very special and I don't
01:22 think that anyone can deny and I'd really love to highlight just what an incredible
01:28 contribution Aboriginal Australia has made to Australian sport, not just NRL but all
01:34 the sports.
01:35 It has been a phenomenal contribution and it continues.
01:39 This event is one year older than me so as far as I'm concerned it's a very young event
01:43 with a very bright future and I'm looking forward to 2024 and thank you very much for
01:48 coming to Bathurst.
