00:00 How has he contributed without being in some of those?
00:01 >> Yeah, I think we've grown a lot in the perimeter blocking game.
00:06 I think that we always were pretty willing.
00:09 But when push comes to shove and the point of attack,
00:11 we need to do a better job of executing at times.
00:14 But they've really bought in, they wanna be, they've shown that and must continue.
00:19 >> What are the biggest growth you've seen from Cardale and
00:22 from going into the season to where he is right now?
00:25 >> Well, I would say it's just the natural growth of a young athlete
00:29 becoming a grown athlete, if you will.
00:33 When you're young, the body of work is not there.
00:37 And usually you need a lot of body of work to build trust.
00:40 I would say he kind of defied that.
00:41 He did a good job making corrections the first time he made a mistake.
00:46 He tried to prevent a lot of mistakes, which he did a good job of.
00:49 So I can't speak highly enough about him.
00:54 I think he's doing a great job.
00:55 I would say that he really was rolling through camp, through the offseason,
01:00 kind of got dinged up coming out of camp.
01:02 And then it took him a pie in the sole about to buy to kind of get healthy again.
01:06 And once that happened, he kind of picked up where he left off and
01:10 he's really done a good job.
01:12 I expect him to carry that momentum through the rest of this year and
01:15 then the next year.
01:16 >> What have you thought of the buzz that Marvin started to get for the eyes?
01:22 >> I think a big testament to him on the hype.
01:27 I think that it also is a big testament to his university and his offense.
01:31 And what people think of the level at which we're playing.
01:37 I think that he's been a major focus for our offense.
01:43 He's still productive, even with Meck down and Julian banged up.
01:47 And so I appreciate it.
01:50 I don't get caught up in it too much.
01:52 He's very deservant because of the work being put in.
01:55 But I know I like what he says.
01:57 He's here to win championships and that's been our focus in our room.
02:01 >> Just that you find like even the fact that this is not a position that
02:05 ordinarily wins the award, sort of a quarterback award.
02:08 I've only like four receivers ever won the thing.
02:10 Like is it cool to have one of your guys like a part of that conversation?
02:14 >> Yeah, it's really cool.
02:15 I mean, you hope at times these awards aren't just stat awards.
02:20 There's a lot that goes into things and
02:22 if it's just a stat award, they should just call it that.
02:25 But if you're trying to find the best player in college football,
02:28 obviously I'm biased, but he's the best player in college football.
02:31 And if the Blintock is looking for the best receiver in college football and
02:37 not just stats, so I can't turn down the stats, sure you can.
02:40 I mean, so it just depends on what you're looking for.
02:43 That's just the reality of the postseason awards you're talking about.
02:47 But right now we're focused on this team,
02:49 these championships that are coming up and we got some major games on the horizon.
02:53 >> Right, just in your experience both as a player and now as a coach,
02:56 when you have a significant injury,
02:58 how long does it take until you start feeling like yourself again?
03:02 >> It's a combination of physically being able to do it and
03:06 then the mental, it's a mental thing there to it.
03:08 And then I feel some things.
03:11 Do I give it weight?
03:12 Do I ignore it?
03:13 Like they're trying to tell me something.
03:14 There's such a mental conversation usually going on.
03:16 At least I feel like there was, to make sure I wasn't re injuring it or
03:20 exposing myself to more injury, which doesn't help the team either.
03:24 I just wanna help the team.
03:25 So there's a large conversation that goes on in your head.
03:28 You just wanna play football.
03:29 You just wanna feel good enough or at least be very certain.
03:32 I can't make it worse, right?
