00:03 - I'm looking forward to another story here
00:05 because I do think this is the future of where it's going
00:08 and how far we have come.
00:09 But FanDuel is partnering with Genius
00:12 for a product called BetVision.
00:15 Explain to us what BetVision is
00:17 and do you see it as the future of sports betting?
00:20 - Yeah, this is the fourth sports book now
00:24 to partner with Genius,
00:26 which because of the contract they have with the NFL,
00:28 they're able to offer this technology
00:30 where you can stream games in the app,
00:33 specifically NFL games.
00:35 So if I open up FanDuel,
00:37 I'll be able to watch whatever my local game is
00:40 or the national broadcast in the app
00:43 and also bet in the app.
00:44 And this really kind of mirrors
00:47 what streaming companies are going through right now,
00:49 which is trying to figure out a way
00:50 to become more profitable
00:51 amid spending all this money they have
00:53 for the past couple of years
00:55 and what sports books are trying to do,
00:56 which is push people towards more live bets.
00:59 If you think about how hard,
01:01 especially the top players have pushed parlays
01:03 and same game parlays and how much it's worked for them,
01:06 sort of the next frontier is live betting.
01:08 They want people to bet live more.
01:11 It tends to generate better returns for them,
01:14 otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.
01:15 So Genius came out and said that,
01:18 on other sports books where they have this technology,
01:20 that's BetRivers, Caesars, Fanatics,
01:23 live betting handle is up about 121% since week one
01:27 on those games you can stream in the app.
01:29 So obviously it's really been working so far
01:32 if their plan is to get people to bet more live.
01:34 And in general, it's just creating more buzz
01:37 around the innovation and next steps you can do with it.
01:40 They want a circumstance
01:42 where while you're watching the game in the app,
01:44 you can just press a button on a player
01:46 or something like that and then place a bet instantly.
01:49 Obviously there's still a lot of hurdles for them to jump
01:52 in terms of making sure you have the quickest,
01:55 the lowest latency between the actual play happening
01:58 on the field and the betting you're doing in the app.
02:00 But I checked out the Fanatics one
02:03 when I was in Massachusetts recently,
02:04 and it was quicker than my parents' cable TV stream.
02:07 So our cable TV broadcast.
02:09 So it seems like it's really ramping up
02:12 and getting a lot better.
02:13 The fact that FanDuel is now jumping in is pretty big.
02:15 This means DraftKings doesn't have this product.
02:18 People have been speculating, are they gonna join in?
02:20 Are they gonna get competitive?
02:21 This might force them to do a deal with Genius
02:23 or someone else.
02:24 And then obviously ESPN bet,
02:26 ESPN owns a ton of sports games and specifically NFL games.
02:31 So you would have to think that they're going to move
02:33 in a similar direction as well.
