00:00 Hello, Sarah from the Bureau with your weather update for the severe thunderstorms
00:04 across central and eastern Australia. Now yesterday numerous locations across southeast
00:10 Queensland had their warmest November day for a number of years and it's that heat plus tropical
00:16 moisture and these inland troughs that's driving showers and thunderstorms through central parts
00:22 into Queensland and northeast New South Wales. Alice Springs reported 36 millimeters in the 24
00:29 hours to this morning and there's more on its way with these showers and storms continuing
00:34 with the risk of severe. There's also severe thunderstorms expected this afternoon through
00:39 southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales. Now they may bring heavy rainfall that
00:45 could lead to flash flooding, large to giant size hail and damaging wind gusts. So if you live within
00:51 these areas it's important you start today with our latest warnings plus if you can keep an eye
00:56 on the radar. Now as we move into tomorrow those showers and storms really start to die down
01:03 throughout the day or overnight during across the eastern parts before redeveloping during
01:09 the afternoon but contracting further north as we have this southerly change that's bringing much
01:14 drier and cooler conditions pushing up. Now there's still the chance of severe thunderstorms
01:19 throughout central parts of Queensland tomorrow and also through these storms throughout the
01:25 central parts of the country as well and however it's on Sunday that conditions get really
01:31 interesting across eastern parts of the country as an upper level trough approaches and we start
01:36 to see widespread showers and thunderstorms developing particularly about the southern parts
01:42 of the interior of Queensland and northern interior of New South Wales as well. Now that's the theme
01:47 for the rest of the week this really wet conditions across eastern parts of the country and we can see
01:54 as we move through into Monday that the showers and storms get pushed down and extend down as far
01:59 south as eastern parts of Victoria as well. So how much rainfall are we talking? Well here I've got
02:08 the accumulated rainfall total between now all the way through until next Thursday so that's seven
02:15 days of accumulated rainfall and we can see that the heaviest rainfall totals are about the southern
02:21 interior of Queensland pushing into the northeast quadrant of New South Wales with some purple
02:27 areas there mean there's the potential for 50 to 100 plus millimeters to be accumulated through
02:33 that region. However for the next 24 hours it's important for the people of southeast Queensland,
02:40 northeast New South Wales and central parts of the country to stay up to date with our latest
02:45 severe thunderstorm warnings via our website, our social media and app and of course listen
02:51 to all advice from your local emergency services. Bye for now.
