Simpson's Tim Rankin speaks to The Standard after winning the 2023 Jack Willsher Cup in the Formula 500s at Premier Speedway on November 18, 2023.
Transcript
00:00 Tim, you just won the Jack Wilson Cup. What's the feeling like right now?
00:05 Pretty ecstatic. The lead up to it hasn't been that great, family-wise.
00:09 We've been through a pretty financial struggle in the last since we got back from America.
00:13 So financially, we had to win and to be one of the best in the business was even better.
00:20 So yeah, couldn't say anything more really.
00:23 How do you, I guess, embrace that kind of pressure to come out and say you need to win?
00:28 What was the mindset?
00:30 I know we have a car to win it.
00:32 Just a matter of getting everything right at one time and a bit of luck.
00:35 And as it turned out, we had luck on our side tonight.
00:38 Unfortunately for Dylan, he's a very good driver.
00:41 But unfortunately, mechanical issue sort of finished him.
00:44 But I don't think I would have had anything for him.
00:46 He was just so good. Yeah, just can't really believe it.
00:50 You two kind of at the front and he was kind of just keeping you off.
00:55 You had to keep up the pace, but then as you say, he comes out and you're able to come through.
01:02 Yeah, just a mechanical issue with him.
01:05 Both pretty even pace there in the end, but just something was going wrong with it.
01:09 Yeah, just quite unfortunate for him.
01:11 What's next for you? Any races coming up?
01:14 So, Mount Gambier next week and then Simpson after that.
01:17 And then probably back in the spring half of Max's race.
