00:03 - And speaking of running,
00:04 running up totals has been Sam Howell's thing
00:07 past few games,
00:08 and recency bias is going to have the book
00:10 set his passing yard total 245 and a half.
00:15 I mean, just in isolation,
00:16 I look at this and I go immediately under,
00:18 but then I look at the matchup,
00:20 look at what he's done,
00:21 and I think there's an over here,
00:23 but Joe, you're the expert, what's up?
00:26 - Well, look, Sam Howell certainly has
00:29 given you reason to believe that the over is in play
00:31 the last few weeks,
00:33 and it's not what we saw coming necessarily.
00:35 So let's go to the videotape.
00:37 As a little friend of ours used to say,
00:38 "Against the Giants was the last time
00:41 that he was even in the 200s,
00:42 and that number, despite that disgusting game
00:44 that I talked about before,
00:45 he was still over at 249.
00:48 So even against the Giants last time on the road
00:50 in that game that yielded no points,
00:51 a game which is miserable to watch, right?
00:54 Guess what?
00:55 He still went over this 245 and a half number.
00:57 The last few weeks, he has smashed this number.
01:00 How about 397, 325, 312?
01:04 Now, I do understand that sometimes
01:05 you get into these individual matchups,
01:07 things get tight, teams know each other,
01:08 they scout each other a little bit more,
01:10 they have a little bit more familiarity with each other,
01:11 so they can breed a little contempt when it comes to stats,
01:15 but I don't see how this isn't an over either,
01:17 and I think it's time to give Sam Howell some credit.
01:19 He looks very comfortable.
01:21 Eric B. Enomy, I think, deserves a lot of credit too,
01:23 because this is an offense that looks very different
01:25 than anything we've seen in Washington in quite some time,
01:27 and I think that B. Enomy's done a tremendous job,
01:29 and I think he shows everybody that the league
01:31 really missed the boat here, hiring him as the head coach.
01:33 I mean, he had numerous interviews over the years,
01:36 and for some reason could not get that job,
01:38 ended up leaving Kansas City, coming over to Washington.
01:41 Maybe he'll be the next head coach of the Commanders,
01:43 I don't know, but regardless,
01:45 I think you can look at what B. Enomy's done here
01:47 with Sam Howell in his last few weeks,
01:48 and it's something to really stand up and take notice of.
01:51 Now, who are the opponents in those games?
01:54 You say, well, maybe they were cookie matchups.
01:56 Well, they were against the Eagles,
01:58 Patriots defense, and the Seahawks defense.
02:01 So maybe not super elite,
02:03 but all pretty respectable on the defensive side,
02:05 no matter what you might think
02:06 of the team's overall, some of them.
02:08 You know, I know the Seattle Seahawks are a little middling.
02:09 I know that the New England Patriots
02:10 don't have a lot of wins,
02:12 but you know those are gonna be prepared teams.
02:14 So Sam Howell's been getting it done.
02:16 Again, I keep coming back to that same thing,
02:17 which is that terrible, awful,
02:19 no good game against the Giants last time,
02:21 he was still over this number,
02:22 so I'm gonna go over it again here
02:24 in pretty comfortable in that.
