00:00 It's a real honour, but it's not all spoken for, the volunteers at Manna.
00:13 As I say, we do work in all weathers, we work outside and it's just lovely to win something
00:20 to show for it, sort of thing.
00:22 But as I say, it's not just Manna volunteers, it's all animal volunteers.
00:27 Oh my god, I am over the moon for one.
00:31 I just do what I do day in day out for the kids and just make sure that they have somewhere
00:38 safe to go and obviously help the children who are obviously not as fortunate as others
00:44 and yeah, it really does someone's for them, not for me.
00:48 It feels absolutely fantastic, as I've said in my speech, to serve in your own hometown
00:54 for over a decade for the young people of Corby, it's a real true heartwarming honour
00:59 to do so and to be recognised for that, to work with those learners with vulnerabilities
01:04 and to serve and champion them, it's a real big opportunity that I feel grateful for.
01:11 It's exceptional, we didn't expect it at all.
01:14 All the nominations have done a fantastic job, but we're so grateful for what we do.
01:18 If it wasn't for the community and all the donations and all the support, we wouldn't
01:22 be able to do what we do, which is going out and saving lives and giving that primary care
01:26 before the ambulance can arrive.
01:28 Actually, it is actually quite amazing and I think that this award is actually going
01:32 to be so good so then the students and the cadets and everyone in there can actually
01:37 be proud of what we have done because sometimes we don't actually realise that they don't
01:46 see the power of actually being part of all the emergency services, the police, the ambulance
01:52 and the fire, they've been so, so, so helpful in everything and actually showing the skills
01:58 to all of the cadets and even if they don't join in any emergency services, at least they
02:04 get the knowledge of actually doing it and I'm really proud of all of them and everyone.
02:09 It's absolutely amazing, like I said, raising money for such big charities and stuff like
02:19 that, that mean something close to mine and my family's heart.
02:23 My dad being ex-Navy and my brother in the Royal Marines Band Service, I'm literally
02:30 speechless, so it is a massive thing.
02:34 I was surprised just to be nominated really, I was unsure whether I was deserved of it
02:39 to be honest, even a nomination.
02:41 As I say, it's something I've been doing for a long time, it's something that I'm
02:46 just really passionate about and I've had a lot of help locally from the council funding
02:52 my projects and things like that and I've always been really business minded but always
02:57 wanted to do it in a not-for-profit and charitable kind of way so this is just amazing.
03:03 I don't even know what to say, I'm like proper blown away actually.
03:07 It's recognition of the park itself, because it's been developed over the last few years,
03:13 we've now got yoga for people to come and do it on a regular basis and we also have
03:19 old picnics for handicapped people who have a nice place to come and sit down and enjoy
03:25 the garden and we hope to build that further going forward.
03:29 It feels absolutely amazing to have won, it's been such hard work to get here and thank
03:34 you to everybody who's supported us, friends, family, colleagues, everybody who's helped
03:38 us along the journey.
03:39 So a big thank you, big thank you.
03:41 Thank you very much.
03:42 It's an honour, thank you.
03:43 I had to be coaxed into coming down here because for me personally whilst I steer the ship
03:49 that is the charity boat, it's the crew that make it happen and the crew is the good people
03:54 of Corby and the good people of Corby, they put that in their pocket every time.
03:59 We do the Santa Walk, they sponsor people that are walking, put up signed memorabilia,
04:03 they bid on it, they buy, they do bonus for the raffles, whatever it is.
04:07 So I'm accepting it on behalf of them guys.
04:11 This is a huge encouragement for us and this year is a special year for Corby Lions, we
04:18 are celebrating our 50th year so this recognition is encouraging to serve the community for
04:26 the next 50 years so we are so excited about this thing.
04:30 Well it's quite a surprise actually isn't it?
04:32 It's a wonderful surprise.
04:34 Yeah, really really shocked but really really pleased because we've won awards in the past
04:39 but I think because we were 50 years and I think now we're over the 50 year hurdle, it's
04:46 never taken for granted that you would win these sort of things and we touch so many
04:50 people's children in Corby throughout the years that we've been teaching that it doesn't
04:55 go unnoticed and it's lovely that we've won.
04:59 It is really great.
05:00 I really appreciate it.
