00:00 The holiday spirit is in the air and our budgets might not be what they've been in the past.
00:05 Wine expert, Regine T. Rousseau, is here to share some budget-friendly wines that will still have you enjoying the holidays.
00:12 Regine, welcome.
00:13 Thank you so much. Thank you for having me.
00:15 Absolutely. So, wine is one of my all-time favorite things.
00:19 So, when they said, "We have a SOM, a wine expert coming in," I was like, "Me! I volunteer!"
00:24 I love it.
00:27 So, let me start with this.
00:29 Yes.
00:29 Just because these are budget doesn't mean they're not super delicious.
00:34 Oh, I love that.
00:35 Yes. So, what I have brought you are wines, to me, that drink beyond their price point.
00:40 So, let's go ahead and start with some of these wines.
00:43 So, this first one over here, I love that it's sparkling and I love that it's de-alcoholinized.
00:49 This is so interesting. Tell us a little bit about this one.
00:51 Yes. So, this is GieĂźen 0% and this is their newest wine.
00:56 Okay.
00:57 And why I love this is, well, we should toast because it is the holidays, right?
01:01 Let's toast. Absolutely, yes. Cheers.
01:03 Cheers. Okay.
01:04 Here's why I love. You're throwing a party, right?
01:10 There are people who are coming over who may not be drinking.
01:13 They might be taking a break. It feels like sparkling wine. It tastes like sparkling wine.
01:18 It does.
01:19 And you're looking at 20 calories for five ounces with no added sugar.
01:24 For this one, what would you pair it with food-wise?
01:26 Okay. Well, actually anything. I would start a meal with it, but you can do this with turkey.
01:32 You can do it with ham. You can do it with appetizers, shrimps.
01:36 This is just, it goes with so many different things.
01:38 I love it. I love it. Okay. So, let's move on here to our Sauvignon Blanc.
01:41 Okay. And just so you know, that's $19.99.
01:44 Oh, great.
01:44 And you can find it at Boisson, The Zero Proof, and Amazon.com.
01:48 So easy. Yeah, because it's zero proof, so you can get it sent right to you.
01:52 Exactly.
01:53 Brilliant. Okay. I love it. All right. Perfect.
01:55 Yes. Thank you for slowing me down. I'm so excited to get to the alcohol wine.
01:59 But yes, now we can move on to the Sauvignon Blanc. Tell me about this one.
02:02 So, this is D'Al out of Paso Robles. I have a personal love for this Sauvignon Blanc because
02:09 I tasted it about a year ago and I was like, "Oh, what am I drinking?"
02:12 So, all the things that you love about Sauvignon Blanc, it's got that grapefruit.
02:17 It's got, but this one has pineapple, a little bit of grassiness. It's fantastic.
02:22 You can have this with Thanksgiving dinner. This is a good brunch wine. It's doing a quiche.
02:28 Yes. Yes. And it's $17 and you can find it at D'Al.com, D'Al Vineyards.com.
02:36 So, that's another great one for your holiday table.
02:39 So, I know you were saying that rosés are great with turkey.
02:45 Yes.
02:45 I would never have put those two things together because in my mind,
02:50 I just kind of don't equate those two things. So, tell me now about our rosé that we have here.
02:55 Okay. So, why rosé is great with Thanksgiving dinner is because it has like enough lightness,
03:02 enough acidity, but because of the tannins, right? Because of the skin contact,
03:07 there's some complexity to it. So, all of those different flavors you get on the Thanksgiving
03:13 table, the rosé will bring it all together for you. This is a dry one. So, this is House of Brown.
03:20 Comes out of California. This is sustainably made. It's $20 and you can find it at AJ Fine Wine,
03:28 Total and Whole Foods.
03:30 Oh, I love it. Can I try this one?
03:31 Uh, yeah.
03:32 Okay.
03:32 I was going to try to beat you to it, but you got it.
03:34 Oh, no. I'm sorry. Well, normally I would defer to you and I'd let you try it,
03:39 but it looks so good I had to try it. All right. Cheers.
03:41 Cheers. Oh yeah. That's fantastic. I love it.
03:45 And you know, when you think about Thanksgiving, don't think about varietals, right?
03:50 Okay.
03:50 Think about profile. So, what does that mean? We want a fruit forward wine.
03:54 We want something with great acidity so it can go with all the flavors on the table.
03:59 I love that. Yes. Because the acidity will kind of cleanse the palette there from all
04:02 of those rich flavors.
04:03 Look at you. Okay.
04:04 All right. So, quickly, let's get to our last one here.
04:06 Yes. Last but not least, we have Soleil Vin de Bontay. This is a wine from the south of
04:11 France. It's organic. It's woman-led. It tastes good and this company does good.
04:17 They're always doing, they're working with a lot of environmentally responsible organizations.
04:23 I love that.
04:23 And red wine for Thanksgiving, yes, it's definitely a thing. This is light enough
04:28 to pair with all the flavors of Thanksgiving.
04:30 Oh, that's so perfect. Yes. I love that we finished up with that beautiful red.
04:34 So, quickly tell everyone where they can find you so they can learn more.
04:37 You can find me on @shallwewine on Instagram, but subscribe to my newsletter. I get free
04:44 information.
04:45 I love that. Yes. And now you can get even more tips for all your holiday season
04:49 wines and these make great gifts as well. All right, Regine, thank you so much. I'm
04:53 going to say cheers one more time.
04:54 I know that's right.
04:55 Cling to you.
04:59 Cheers.
05:01 Cheers.
05:03 Cheers.
