How ‘Good Burger 2’ Promises to Bring Fan Nostalgia with Original Cast and More

00:10 - The cult classic movie officially has
00:12 a second installment coming nearly 26 years later.
00:15 West Trending got the chance to chat with the writers
00:17 and directors of the upcoming movie, "Good Burger 2",
00:19 and it's something you're not gonna wanna miss.

00:23 "Good Burger", originally a '90s sketch
00:25 that first aired on All That in 1994,
00:27 and later turned into a movie in 1997,
00:30 officially has another installment set to release soon.
00:33 Duo Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson reunite
00:35 with many other original cast members
00:37 to bring out a new movie that will have many excited.

00:48 - Now with this latest release,
00:50 writers and directors of the latest addition to Paramount
00:52 reflect on how the film came together
00:54 and what they hope viewers will truly take away
00:56 from this new movie.
00:57 - Interestingly, I mean, I would say that we've had an idea
01:00 for the "Good Burger" sequel for a while,
01:02 and when we made the first movie,
01:04 it was always something that we thought about
01:06 and really wanted to do.
01:08 It was just sort of a matter of the timing being right.
01:11 You know, we did an "All That" reboot a few years back,
01:13 and we did some "Good Burger" sketches with Kel,
01:16 and I think at that moment, it sort of gained momentum.
01:18 - When it came to making a movie
01:19 over two decades later from the original,
01:21 the team also said the cast was more than excited
01:23 to be a part of the new installment.
01:25 In addition, the writers of the film
01:26 even said the nostalgia was a big part
01:28 of the premise for viewers.
01:29 Do you feel like a lot of people will get nostalgia
01:32 when watching this as well?
01:34 - Yeah, I mean, we wrote a lot of it for that, so yeah.
01:38 And, you know, and we hope the new audience
01:41 likes it just as much.
01:42 - Yeah, I think when you see the film,
01:44 there's a lot of Easter eggs in there
01:46 for fans of the original, some good cameos,
01:48 but there's a lot of like current cameos
01:50 that are exciting for a new generation of fans as well.
01:53 A lot of inspired comedic bits.
01:56 - I think it's nostalgia as well for,
01:58 not just nostalgia for that film,
02:00 but for just the feeling of like,
02:02 somebody described it as your mother's cooking.
02:04 You know, it's that warmth of like innocence and happiness
02:08 and no stresses in your life.
02:10 It's like nostalgia for a whole world
02:12 that they built in "Good Burger,"
02:13 which just feels optimistic and happy.
02:15 Not just for, you know,
02:16 oh, I remember that one line that Kel said,
02:19 but it's the whole world, the whole vibe of watching it.
02:23 It just makes you feel good, right?
02:24 - Nickelodeon is now in its 43rd year
02:26 and is the number one entertainment brand for kids.
02:28 The new movie features a large amount
02:30 of returning cast members from the first film,
02:32 including Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg,
02:34 and even Carmen Electra.
02:36 And yes, the fan demand for seeing 90s icons,
02:38 Kenan and Kel, back together has been notoriously positive
02:41 and many can't wait to see this new feature.
02:43 "Good Burger 2" premieres on November 23rd,
02:45 exclusively on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland.
