Parish council chairman's concerns over road closures in Preston, near Canterbury
Transcript
00:00 We've got constant road closures through the village and it's been absolutely devastating
00:06 for the business, the village shop, the butchers, the garden centre. We've got two wedding businesses,
00:12 they've all had problems as a result of the road closures, they've all lost revenue.
00:15 We've got single or two house developments going up that have been approved by Dover District Council
00:23 and every time they're built, connections have to be made and we get a road closure for each
00:31 connection. So you might have two or three closures for each house that's built and I
00:36 just think there needs to be a bit more thought going into it from Dover Planning in terms of the
00:42 impact that it has on local residents with parents trying to get their kids to school,
00:50 the bus stops running whenever there's a road closure, people struggle to get to work and the
00:54 businesses suffer. Everyone's getting really angry, it's getting absolutely fed up. It has been going
01:00 on for 12 months, it's probably been going on for longer. I think it just seems like we've had
01:05 a closure every month at least and it can't go on like this.
