Renault Kiger Mileage Test Run by Promeet Ghosh. Here's how much fuel efficiency the new Renault Kiger SUV returns per litre of petrol. One of the SUV sub-segments that is turning out to be a hot favourite with the masses is the sub-compact crossover segment. The bestseller in this segment is currently the Renault Kiger and for good reason. It is one of those vehicles that offer a long list of features, decent performance, and great value for money.

00:00 Hi guys and welcome to Drivespark, I'm Prameet and today we are driving the all new Renault
00:14 Kaiger, the 2023 Renault Kaiger and this video is particularly gonna be about the mileage
00:20 run that we did on this car. So, before that, let me give you a quick brief about this vehicle.
00:26 So this is basically a crossover or a compact SUV from the company and this actually, this
00:33 car looks really nice from the outside. If you start from the front end, you can see
00:37 you get the DRLs on top, again LED headlights, you get carvings on the bonnet that makes
00:43 it look very muscular. It's a white car and you get some chrome on the logo on the grille
00:48 and you get a silver scuff plate down below. Moving on to the side, you get 16-inch alloy
00:53 wheels, you also get body cladding, some body lines and creases that actually make the car
00:58 look sporty and the door handles and the ORVMs are present in the piano black colour, which
01:03 is actually a very sporty colour, red and black. So, moving on to the rear section,
01:08 you get this 3D taillight, the wrap-around taillight, again present in LED, looks really
01:13 nice, you get a sporty spoiler on top, a sharp fin antenna, then you get a wiper along with
01:20 the washer, defogger, a camera that is present in the logo, right in the centre of the logo
01:25 and parking sensors as well. Talking about the boot space of the car, it is a pretty
01:29 spacious car, so the boot space is 405 litres.
01:33 Coming to the inside, you get an all blacked out interior with the contrast red stitching
01:44 and since I'm guessing that this is, the red colour is inside on the dashboard because
01:50 it is the Mazda exterior colour, so there is a small element on the dashboard that's
01:54 painted on red. Other than that, everything is black, you get red stitching, fabric upholstery
01:59 with red stitching, you also get this 8-inch infotainment system, it's a pretty basic system
02:04 but it's got Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, that's wireless, also you get automatic climate
02:09 control, you get a start/stop button, cruise control, a wireless charger and you get sports
02:14 mode and you also get these buttons for your ambient lighting, there's only one colour
02:18 that's white, you can set it on or off from this light that is right in front of your
02:22 mode selector. Now the steering wheel is a flat bottom steering wheel, obviously you
02:26 have tilt function, you do not get a telescopic function with it, steering model controls
02:32 are there to change your screen that is your digital cluster, you can send a lot of information,
02:39 get a lot of information about this car, it's got TPMS and everything, so you are quite
02:46 safe when you're travelling for long distances, don't need to worry about your tyre pressure
02:49 and all that because this has already got your TPMS, plus you can also control your
02:54 infotainment system with these buttons, so you have basically a steering that is wrapped
02:58 in leather, half is wrapped in leather and the grip is really nice, overall as you can
03:03 see there's, it's plastic all over but it's like, it's hard plastic but it's good quality
03:08 plastic I would say, you get a ton of storage, you get two glove boxes, I mean bottle holders
03:14 on every section, you get a centre armrest that opens up into a glove box, again it's
03:19 got a ton of storage, so yeah, I mean space wise this is a pretty nice car.
03:24 Now coming to the engine of this car, so it gets two engine options, one is 1.0-litre
03:35 naturally aspirated petrol engine, the other one is the same 1.0-litre but that's a turbocharged
03:39 petrol engine, now we are driving the turbo petrol variant, the Xtronic, that's the CVT
03:44 gearbox, so this engine produces around 98.5 bhp or power at 160 Nm of peak torque, power
03:50 and torque figures might not look that exciting, but this is a light car, so I mean it is pretty
03:55 peppy, it's not very fast but it is pretty decent and you can reach triple digit speeds
04:00 within no time, again the modes you get Eco, Normal and Sport, Eco the throttle response
04:07 is really laggy, Normal it increases suddenly and then Sport it actually becomes very sporty
04:12 and becomes really really crisp, only the throttle response changes, not the steering,
04:17 I mean the steering damping remains the same, the steering wheel is slightly on the lighter
04:21 side but I mean it is not that bad, however the suspension feels a little soft, suspension
04:26 quality could have been better because when the car goes on a pothole and if you are at
04:29 speed you will hear that thud noise and yeah that is scary sometimes because the suspension
04:36 suddenly comes down and at that time you will feel that yeah the suspension quality should
04:41 have been slightly better, but overall the car feels planted, it's not that car you can
04:46 cut corners through very fast but yeah it has a lot of stability plus the safety features
04:52 that this car has is really nice, so it gets a dual airbag, it gets a four star safety
04:57 rating and it also gets ABS traction control, traction control you can switch off from here
05:02 and in the gearbox you get an L mode, the L mode is basically for your low range gearbox
05:07 if you are at a snowy place, so this car is around 205 mm of ground clearance which is
05:12 pretty decent but that does not mean you take it for a hardcore off-roading session, I mean
05:16 this can do off-roading but mild off-roading, not very hardcore off-roading, so yeah that's
05:21 about it, now coming to the mileage figures, so we drove the car for around 300 kilometres
05:27 on a go and the first 100 kilometres we drove at around 100 kilometres an hour, this has
05:32 cruise control so we set cruise, put it on the eco mode and reset the mileage, so at
05:38 100 kilometres per hour the mileage for 100 kilometres what it was displaying on the MID
05:43 was around 17.2, it was stuck there and when we increased the speed to 110 for the next
05:49 100 kilometres an hour, again same cruise control and eco mode, the mileage dropped
05:54 to around 14.3, that's a significant drop and when we increased the speed to around
06:00 120 for around the next, the last 100 kilometres, then the mileage figure dropped to around
06:05 13.1 kilometres per litre, now that is a significant drop but if you are driving at 80 kilometres
06:14 an hour, we actually again reset the mileage and we drove for around 50 kilometres for
06:21 80 kilometres an hour and during that time the car gave a mileage efficiency of around
06:26 21.5 to 22 kilometres per litre which is actually excellent and which is actually very close,
06:34 in fact it's slightly higher than the claimed mileage figure that the company gives you
06:37 that is around 21 kilometres per litre.
06:40 So and within the city if you are driving like right now with stop and go traffic as
06:45 well, what is displaying on the MID is around 16 kilometres per litre which is pretty decent,
06:52 so if you are driving on the highway and you are at 100 kilometres an hour, I think that's
06:57 the highway limit for most of the highways in India, so you will be getting somewhere
07:00 between 17 to 17.2 kilometres per litre which is pretty decent for a car this size and I
07:07 think these are the mileage figures on the all new 2023 Renault Kaiger that was the turbo
07:14 petrol variant and I hope you like this video, if you like this video, please give it a thumbs
