00:02 You could just tell that giving hugs
00:07 was the way she showed love.
00:09 She would walk over to us
00:14 and just throw her body against us.
00:16 Getting hugs from her are the best kinds of hugs
00:19 in the entire world.
00:20 She knew that she was safe.
00:22 Helen lived on a chain in a stall for 19 years
00:28 and was born blind.
00:30 It definitely took her a few days
00:37 to get used to our voices
00:38 and to learn that she was in a new place.
00:41 Hi, Helen.
00:42 Since Helen can't see us,
00:44 she does use her other senses,
00:46 like sound and touch, to experience the world.
00:48 Helen absolutely loves rubbing herself up on things.
00:53 She loves rubbing up against us.
00:55 She loves scratching herself.
00:57 (birds chirping)
00:59 She loves listening to the birds
01:01 and we play music for her.
01:03 I'm right here, Helen.
01:08 With Helen being 19 years old
01:10 and living the life that she had,
01:11 we're determined to make every day
01:13 the best day of her life.
01:15 Hi, Helen.
01:20 We wanted to make everything very convenient for her,
01:22 and so we thought about all her senses.
01:25 We started off by putting a solar-powered water fountain
01:28 so she always can hear the trickle of the water.
01:31 Additionally, she loves listening to sounds,
01:33 and so we hung wind chimes up by her room.
01:37 Not only can she enjoy listening to those sounds
01:41 whenever the wind blows,
01:42 but she can also get to her room very easily.
01:45 Helen's listening to her wind chimes.
01:47 Giving a tush scratch.
01:50 Helen absolutely loves rubbing herself up on things,
01:54 so we installed a couple brushes onto the fences
01:58 and onto her run-in shed.
01:59 You can just find her at all hours of the day
02:03 rubbing up on them.
02:04 We installed a hay holder and a water bucket holder
02:08 in her room.
02:09 She always has access to fresh food and water.
02:13 We installed a night vision camera,
02:16 and it's just good to make sure that she's okay
02:18 at all times.
02:20 We would sleep out there if we had our way.
02:23 (birds chirping)
02:24 Here, Helen.
02:25 It's just the cutest thing to watch her.
02:27 She's just so happy.
02:28 Good night, beautiful.
02:30 We love you.
02:31 We wanted to show her we were here to protect her
02:34 and to love her.
02:36 We did not know that it was possible
02:38 to love somebody so much.
02:40 I will find that I am just yelling that I love her,
02:44 even as I'm leaving the pastures.
02:46 Love you, Helen.
02:47 Helen is the most beautiful, loving soul we've ever met,
02:51 and ultimately, she's taught us to lead with love.
