00:12 the regular season pick 'em here on ITG you are in the gun I'm Wesley Uler we got the
00:17 best teammates in the business the signal caller Jed Drenning as you heard in our previous
00:21 episode it's a big week for Big O playoffs Thanksgiving with all of that practice there
00:29 at Greenbrier West is getting changed up timing wise and everything so crazy week for Big
00:35 O so you have Jed and I most of the way here we'll see if we can't get Owen to pop in from
00:40 time to time on some of these things but they've moved practice around they got a big playoff
00:44 game like we talked about on our 23.
00:47 First of all my alma mater Tucker County is hosting one semifinal Owen in my estimation
00:55 should be hosting the other but they're on the road against James Monroe in a rematch
01:00 so you talk about an action-packed slate this weekend in West Virginia high school single
01:05 way football well in all classes actually but my Tucker County Mountain Lions getting
01:09 ready to do battle against a heck of a football team coming into Parsons and there goes Greenbrier
01:18 heading to James Monroe for the rematch so a lot of action this week Wes.
01:22 I love it listen it doesn't feel right sometimes still on Thanksgiving or Black Friday that
01:27 the backyard brawl isn't there you know it's it's great that we got those pit dorks back
01:32 on the schedule but it still doesn't feel right but at least we got some some juicy
01:36 Black Friday high school football in West Virginia to look forward to yeah we'll be
01:40 keeping an eye on that we'll be keeping everybody posted on that obviously but now it's time
01:44 for our week 12 recap Jed so how did we all do with our picks last week.
01:51 Let's take a look I went and we're still trying to determine if my curse has been moved to
01:57 Owen we'll find out right the Kenny Power shake the dice dance move curse I went with
02:02 Houston we talked about my logic last week Oklahoma State had struggled against the pass
02:08 we expected something of a bounce back performance at least for the Houston passing game after
02:13 barely 100 yards the week before they ended up throwing for 263 yards as a team that was
02:21 only good for fifth in the big 12 among passing totals offensively they were behind TCU I
02:29 tell you what Josh Hoover another big day for 31 keeps lighting it up to lead the way
02:35 Oklahoma State against Houston of course they fell behind early bounced back on the the
02:41 arm of Alan Bowman as much as the legs of Ollie Gordon 348 Iowa State against Texas
02:48 through for 323 Rocco backed good job by Rocco back not quite enough against the Longhorns
02:54 though and speaking of those Longhorns when yours and company through for 281 so I finished
03:00 fifth and that means I get ding ding a very quiet thing one point and our point total
03:09 Owen went with Oklahoma and the 10 o'clock start in Provo and the house that Lavelle
03:16 built Oklahoma ended up running against BYU for 144 yards of course all of us who are
03:24 tracking those scores saw the fits that BYU gave them BYU we've talked about it all year
03:31 has an incredible home field advantage they play really well out there in the elevation
03:35 Oklahoma as perfectly as they played under the lights and Norman bit of a hangover it
03:40 appeared taking that trip further west to take on the Cougs 144 yards rushing for Oklahoma
03:47 they were actually outrushed by BYU who's 14th in the big 12 and rushing BYU ran for
03:54 217 they were one of the eight teams ahead of Oklahoma in the rushing standings leading
04:00 the way are West Virginia Mountaineers with 424 big ones behind West Virginia a very distant
04:09 second UCF with 238 Kansas with 234 all told Oklahoma finished ninth in rushing with 144
04:19 yards so at zero points this week for Owen West you matter of fact we'll save you for
04:25 last Skyler Skyler went with Oklahoma again we talked about the struggles that Oklahoma
04:32 had out in the mountains of Utah against BYU they found a way to survive but not by a lot
04:40 they did score 31 points that was good for a fourth place tie in the big 12 Oklahoma
04:48 State a week after being demolished 45 to 3 and having the fewest points against UCF
04:55 Oklahoma State bounces back against Dana Holgerson the Houston Cougs on the road scoring
05:00 43 to beat Houston there were a couple teams West Virginia being one of them to score 42
05:07 Skyler let me double check this real fast just to make sure I think he finished fourth
05:14 but as we're speaking I want to double check that let's go back to the totals we had a
05:19 31 he picked Oklahoma at 31 yeah that'd be fourth there were 242 that's correct so he
05:26 gets two points now Wes we saved the best for last Wes picked Texas he said it all ends
05:34 here under the lights and aims at the jack told you well they didn't wear the all blacks
05:41 I guess that was the problem yeah that was that was the problem yeah that was the problem
05:46 Iowa State didn't wear the all blacks but the Texas defense was too much for that struggling
05:53 Iowa State offense they held Iowa State to 16 points which was the fewest but this was
06:01 a battle the fewest points allowed by a big 12 defense Baylor only scored 17 in the loss
06:07 to TCU so that was close and of course West Virginia was tracking to a lot of fewest points
06:13 for the lion's share of that game until a couple late touchdowns by Cincinnati once
06:18 we started substituting on the defensive side but long story short ding ding ding ding seven
06:24 dings Wes with the big seven so mathematically I guess technically you separate to the point
06:32 that you can hit the queen hit the queen song Jed we are the champions let me hold on let
06:39 me get my wife Peter my tight jeans my mustache I'm gonna do my Freddie Mercury here across
06:49 the stage yes I am I'm up nine points on Skylar so even if he were to get seven this week
06:54 and I were to get minus one that would still give me a one point mathematically I feel
07:00 I feel like Tiger Woods at this point like just you know it's all like trying to tie
07:04 prime Tiger Woods just it's all a formality I was trying to think of how we could we could
07:09 thicken the plot and have some one-off bet between you and Skylar but it would have to
07:14 be pretty outrageous he'd have to you know come up once a week through the summer and
07:18 mow your lawn for you or something I mean that's a long drive from Carolina to PA but
07:22 right we don't think of something maybe maybe whatever it is Herb Street's gonna have to
07:28 end up pay maybe Skylar could pay you as Herb Street pays Pat McAfee for saying whatever
07:36 plus Virginia gets more than six wins I'll give you whatever you want well Sky we know
07:42 you're gonna be hearing this so put some thought into it shoot Wes a text we'll see what you
07:47 up with yeah we come up with something good we'll put it we'll put it uh we'll put it
07:52 out on the last year so remember Wes yep this was the first leg of a competition that included
07:58 championship weekend and some bowl picks so this portion might be over the battle was
08:04 over but the war is not that's right so this is like it's like the regular season it's
08:09 like the regular season you know what I mean I position myself well in the regular season
08:12 but now we still got the now we got the playoffs it's right I got the one seed in the hay a
08:16 lot of one seeds end up cutting down the nets but you know we've also we've also seen him
08:20 go out in the first round and and end up uh end up losing in the second round not even
08:24 making it out of the opening weekend so yes uh updated oh yeah sorry you want to do our
08:30 listeners before I do the updated standings you want me to get why don't you let me give
08:33 you a standing yeah I'll do the standings real quick uh I'm in first place with 38 points
08:38 Skylar second 29 tight race between him and Big O that could still go either way uh Owen
08:42 with 24 in third and then Jed with 12 doing your best to honor our guy Gino Smith there
08:49 uh with with uh 12 points through you know you've been steady one point a week 12 points
08:53 through 12 weeks it's good consistency one point through 12 weeks so uh yeah let's take

10:43 we had four how many got the rushing offense right we had three Wes I'll tell you what

15:25 the season a regular season your signal caller of the week which offense in the conference
15:29 is going to throw for the most yards. Mine's easy. The curse is dead. The curse has been
15:35 lifted. So why wouldn't I take West Virginia on the road under the lights. I'm a clean
15:42 stadium and wake up. That's what I'm a role with. Yeah I didn't I didn't prod you about
15:47 that either. I mean another another night game for you on the road. We're going to go
15:51 Jed we spent years complaining that all we did by we I mean the collective we of the
15:55 WVU fan base complaining that all we do is play noon games noon games noon games. Now
16:00 we're going to go a whole season without a noon game. If I was the scheduling czar I've
16:06 said many times for a host of reasons. Every home game would be two thirty three thirty
16:11 or later. Every road game would be either noon or eleven depending on which times and
16:15 we're in everyone at 10 a.m. and the crowds around BYU eventually. Well it's alarming.
16:22 A the crowd is flatter. It kind of mitigates the crowd advantage on the road. But the jig
16:28 gets home earlier. So and B is what B is what matters most. All right. I mean without a
16:34 down roll back at six in the morning again Sunday from wake up buddy I was going to say
16:38 knowing your luck will end up playing a bowl game at seven o'clock in Arizona on a Tuesday
16:44 that doesn't start until 10 o'clock our time and it will be done that before we've done
16:49 before. West I remember taking calls. It was it had to be you know four in the morning
16:55 in West Virginia 430 and we had 80 year old ladies calling the postgame talking about
17:00 the win over Arizona State. That's hilarious. Now wait real quick. You guys when you guys
17:05 do that do you stay after those ball games. I was going to say it's one of those deals
17:09 where you stay but you almost wish you didn't because you get up early the next morning
17:13 and you almost in some ways feel worse. Sure. The bags downstairs by a certain time get
17:18 the bosses to the airport by certain. It's one of those deals. Yeah. So Jed's going WVU.
17:25 I like it. I love it. I want some more of it. Owen in third place. He needs a big one
17:30 this week to maybe leapfrog Skylar of course Owen our beer truck of the week the team in
17:38 the conference it's going to rush for the most yards. Owen is also going with his TC
17:43 would say the world champion Mountaineers. They go going to take WVU to lead the conference
17:49 in the ground game. Skylar going to take WVU as well to for his offense of the week which
17:54 offense is going to score the most points in the conference. And so if you're keeping
18:00 along at home here Jed taking WVU Owen taking WVU Skylar taking WVU I if you look at my
18:07 paper here I was not planning on picking WVU but I don't like I don't think we've ever
18:11 had a week that we all for pick WVU and I don't know if that's a bad thing or a good
18:16 thing I don't know if we do that if it becomes some kind of curse if we do it in the Mountaineers
18:21 end up rolling and having a great game if we deserve I don't know what to do here Jed
18:24 I'm stumped I kind of want to call an audible but I also don't want to jinx our world champion
18:29 Mountaineers I think we stand to gain or excuse me stand to lose more than we stand to gain
18:36 so I would advise against it I'm going to go Kansas State I'm going to go you know it's
18:41 like when you're taking a test right and then your teacher always tells you stick with your
18:45 gut instinct right stay with your first answer don't second guess yourself and you are correct
18:50 Jed there's a massive difference between eight and four and seven and five and I certainly
18:55 don't want to be the reason that the Mountaineers don't get that eighth win of the regular season
18:59 so I'll stick with what I had written on my paper here originally before we started I'm
19:03 going to go with Kansas State at home against Iowa State Kansas State a big favorites in
19:10 this one Iowa State you know I think last week was kind of their at home against Texas
19:15 big opportunity maybe now they're skating to the glide into the finish line a little
19:21 bit here relaxing to the finish line it's a Saturday night in Manhattan Kansas State's
19:25 been stout on defense all season I think they're going to be ready to go they still have the
19:30 opportunity to get a berth in the Big 12 championship game so give me the K-State Wildcats at home
19:35 against the Cyclones as your defense of the week I wanted to read this to you Wes because
19:41 you know you have big 12 officials telling different media outlets in the Big 12 that
19:46 there are up to 128 possibilities still on the table in terms of how this can play out
19:52 crazy with the logjam of teams but this this Twitter chatter or X chatter or whatever we're
20:00 calling it now there was an @UTAllen having this conversation and okay here's what he
20:09 said now you know put it right in salt nest but he said if Texas and Kansas State lose
20:15 he said my understanding is if Texas and Kansas State lose and OU and Oklahoma State win then
20:24 Texas OU and Oklahoma State will be tied OU will be one and one against Oklahoma State
20:30 and Texas in other words they'll create the many league sure and so Oklahoma and Oklahoma
20:36 State would play in the championship so just to simplify this according to this guy if
20:42 Texas and Kansas State lose and Oklahoma and Oklahoma State win that would put Oklahoma
20:47 and Oklahoma State in the championship that's wildly unofficial it was just a conversation
20:52 taking place about all these these Big 12 officials you know putting different things
20:57 out but who knows I just thought that was you mentioned Kansas State and I knew that
21:03 they were involved in that and I just thought that would be interesting.
21:08 Jed the final week of the college football regular season is always intriguing there's
21:13 always storylines and potential conference championship games and all these things on
21:17 the line particularly in the Big 12 this year and then when you look at the college football
21:21 playoff picture too now I mean you got eight teams legitimately still that could make the
21:25 college football playoff this is all setting up for a very exciting final week of the college
21:30 football regular season here yeah that's next year that's what I mean I think this is this
21:35 is going to be a good kind of final four team year for the playoff because there's going
21:39 to be some debate there's going to be there's going to be a couple teams that feel like
21:41 they should get in that end up getting left out there's going to be some controversy it's
21:45 going to be a lot of fun here the final weeks of the regular season situation with Florida
21:50 State and their quarterback now and that was I texted my buddy Jeff Colley who's the voice
21:55 of the Seminoles that's just you hate to see that yeah it's rough yeah and it is rough
22:01 and obviously that's something the committee will take into consideration they got to get
22:05 to take care of Florida which we know the Gators aren't having the best season but it's
22:08 a rivalry game right the old throw out the rule books the record books who knows what's
22:12 going to happen so yeah things just got way more intriguing for Florida State without
22:16 a doubt I will say it for probably the last time here but just anybody but Oklahoma in
22:21 the Big 12 championship game all right anybody else I don't care if it's the Cowboys the
22:25 Longhorns the Wildcats anybody else Oklahoma fans on Twitter are calling Friday a holiday
22:30 because it's the last time they'll have to ever play a Big 12 conference regular season
22:35 game like they're celebrating the fact that they're out of here I can't stand these dorks
22:39 these arrogant pricks who suddenly think they're Alabama or Georgia even though they don't
22:43 want a college football playoff game and they get smoked every time they go there I want
22:48 them to go out last two years in the Big 12 without a Big 12 championship appearance in
22:52 fact having to watch their two biggest rivals Texas and Oklahoma State playing in the Big
22:57 12 championship game as well too so go get it done you orange teams all right and don't
23:02 let the Sooners backdoor in a state Oklahoma State match I'll take that too I'll take that
23:07 too don't get me wrong that is ideal but anyone but the Sooners I will take anyone but the
23:11 Sooners in in Jerry world in a little over a week down there for the Big 12 championship

24:08 point because right now I would lean toward Jaden Daniels I think but if Washington keeps
24:15 winning yeah I think what he's done against SEC defense is impressive it's very impressive
24:21 I just don't like it's the old adage of I don't know can can you vote for a guy who's
24:26 on a team that is like it feels like the Heisman trophy always goes to the best player on one
24:31 of the best teams right there's rare exceptions to that I mean I think what Baylor was nine
24:36 and I think Baylor was nine and three the year that RG three won the Heisman so it's
24:40 not like they were world beaters they had a good season you only got to do it for a
24:44 losing team yeah so I I've been Penix pretty heavily but here's a wild card for you if
24:52 Marvin Harrison jr. goes out there and carves up the Wolverines and Ohio State ends up winning
24:56 that game I might consider him as well too because coach leader who again when you when
25:05 you look at the criteria who I would have said I would have said I would have said that
25:09 at all you are yeah we have this guy I would have said Cignetti I mean I realized they
25:12 lost at home and I'm talking to JMU Cignetti all right not the offensive coordinator for
25:17 Pitt but you know they lose at home this past week man that's a good question it's got to
25:25 be uh it's it's got to be Jim Harbaugh you're not the first person to joke that to me uh
25:33 Kaitlyn DeBoer has to be in the conversation again with in other words to what extent did
25:40 you ever achieve all right that's what it all when you think Dan Lanning in Oregon I
25:44 think Oregon was was kind of expected to get to this stratosphere sorry Washington was
25:49 expected to be good but I don't know about be unscathed at this point so uh Kaitlyn DeBoer
25:56 would be a candidate but it's kind of interesting if you think through some of the candidates
26:02 I think Jed Fish has to suddenly emerge on the radar out in Arizona with the stretch
26:08 that they've been on I it's it's difficult to say but I would I would go with a couple
26:14 names like that yeah I think I'm I think I'm with you on that as well too but it'll always
26:19 be interesting I think Sark might get a shout you know if they take care of business and
26:23 get things done there's season number one that's what I'm saying I yeah yeah I mean
26:27 to me well and and let's not forget Bronc I mean the job that he's done in year one
26:31 at Louisville he has to be in the mix uh how hilarious is it that they'd be in playoff
26:38 conversations if not for Pitt that's all Pitt does it did it again yeah that's all Pitt
26:43 does is hurt their conference baby yep hey let's see how much money we can cut their
26:47 conference while we suck when they listen when the when when the ACC inevitably blows
26:52 up or at least the ACC as we know it when Florida State and Miami and Clemson and North
26:57 Carolina all leave be careful about having Pitt into the Big 12 all right because that
27:01 might be the death kiss for the for the conference long pair yeah and they killed the Big East
27:06 they're helping kill the ACC do we really want to give them a third opportunity I mean
27:10 even when they win the ACC they must first lose to a Mac school then go win the ACC even
27:16 then they make their conference look bad but unbelievable unbelievable all right this has
