00:00 G'day, I'm Paul.
00:00 So when you think Lamborghinis,
00:02 you think race cars for the road,
00:04 but they've gone one step further with this car here.
00:07 This is literally a race car for the road.
00:09 It's called the Lamborghini Huracan STO.
00:12 STO stands for Super Trofeo Omolegato,
00:15 which is effectively Italian for,
00:18 this is a road car of the Super Trofeo race car.
00:22 And it's expensive.
00:23 It is about $600,000.
00:24 This particular car has over $250,000 worth of options.
00:28 So it's close to a million dollars on the road in Australia,
00:31 which is crazy.
00:32 This competes with things like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS,
00:35 the Mercedes AMG GT Black Series.
00:38 There really aren't too many competitors out there
00:41 that take learnings from race cars
00:42 and then stick them into a package
00:44 that you can drive on the road.
00:46 Today, I'm gonna do a detailed review of this.
00:47 And yes, it is very wet today,
00:48 so it's gonna be interesting.
00:50 If you do wanna skip ahead to other parts of this review,
00:52 you can use the time codes on the screen,
00:54 or if you're on YouTube,
00:55 you can scroll down and use the chapters below.
00:57 And if you haven't done so already,
00:57 subscribe to our channel and press the bell icon
01:00 so you can find out every single time
01:02 we drive an Italian bull.
01:04 Now let's talk design.
01:06 So you have like 80 colors to choose from,
01:09 and some are actually free, which is nice.
01:11 The ones that aren't free cost from around $25,000 upwards,
01:15 and you can spend all sorts of money with the Ad Personum,
01:19 which is the customization program that Lamborghini offers.
01:22 And there's just so many options on here
01:24 that I'm not even gonna bother pointing them all out.
01:26 So this car has over 75% of its panels as carbon fiber.
01:30 In addition to that, they've used a windscreen
01:33 that's 20% lighter than a regular Huracan.
01:36 They have all sorts of weight-saving measures here
01:38 to make sure that this actually adds up
01:40 to being effectively a road-going version of the race car.
01:42 This is even rear-wheel drive instead of all-wheel drive,
01:45 which is what you found on the Huracan Performante
01:47 that came before this.
01:47 So I love the design.
01:49 Like when you see this in person,
01:51 it is just on another level entirely.
01:54 I mean, just have a look at some of this stuff.
01:55 You've got these sections here for aero
01:57 that are all carbon exposed.
01:59 You even have these giant ducts here
02:02 that take air from this carbon splitter down the front here,
02:05 spit it out the top, and then it runs over the car.
02:07 It really is just a remarkable thing to see here in person.
02:11 It has so much presence.
02:12 I know that you could say that about any Lambo,
02:14 but here in particular, this color spec
02:17 and the way that they've designed this
02:18 is just something else entirely.
02:21 Down the front here, you've got the Lamborghini logo.
02:23 This is quite low, not quite as low
02:25 as the last road-going race car we tested,
02:27 which was the Porsche Cayman GT4 RS.
02:30 GT4 RS was close to 100 millimeters of ground clearance.
02:33 This sits about 20 mil higher.
02:35 You also have a front lifter
02:35 that helps lift the nose of this so you don't collect things
02:38 'cause that's all carbon.
02:40 If you crack that in half, it's gonna be all sorts of messy
02:42 and all sorts of expensive as well.
02:44 Love the STO there.
02:46 You can actually get a number of sticker packages
02:48 and badge packages for this car
02:50 to let everyone know that this isn't just
02:52 a typical Lamborghini.
02:53 Italian flag colors up the top there as well.
02:56 Full LED headlights with an LED daytime running light
02:59 and LED indicator built into there.
03:01 Check out that exposed cooling unit down there as well.
03:04 Come around to the side with me.
03:06 These wheels are pretty special too.
03:07 So it's a 20-inch alloy wheel,
03:09 but this is a magnesium wheel.
03:11 So again, weight saving.
03:12 It means less unsprung mass on each corner of the car.
03:15 You can even just see some of these details
03:17 with those exposed carbon bits
03:19 sort of allowing air to run through and out the top there.
03:23 You've got two four five mil tires up the front here
03:25 and a wider set at the rear
03:26 that I'll run you through in a second.
03:27 The brakes are absolutely enormous,
03:29 just under 400 mil in size
03:31 in terms of the diameter of that rotor.
03:33 It's cross drilled carbon ceramic,
03:34 six piston calipers as well.
03:36 This car doesn't weigh a lot.
03:37 It's under 1500 kilos,
03:40 but it can generate an incredible amount of speed.
03:43 And with all of this aero on it,
03:44 it actually produces a little under 500 kilograms
03:47 of downforce at 280 kilometers an hour.
03:50 Has a top speed of just over 300 as well,
03:52 just in case you're wondering.
03:54 Over here, STO, this is one of the packages
03:56 you can option with the car.
03:57 Doesn't actually feel like a sticker.
03:59 It feels like it's painted on.
04:00 So that's sort of embedded in there for life.
04:02 Love this sleek looking wing mirror too.
04:04 Look at that.
04:05 It is just a work of art.
04:06 Look at this side duct down the bottom here as well.
04:09 Now I mentioned the rear tires.
04:10 So these are 305 mil wide.
04:12 These are a race tire.
04:14 So in the wet, these will be effectively
04:16 not really doing anything.
04:17 Slightly smaller rotor there,
04:18 but still an enormous caliper on there.
04:20 So it is an impressive looking braking setup.
04:23 Look at this duct as well,
04:24 with that carbon section up the front.
04:26 Then you can see the engine under there.
04:27 That is such a stunning engine.
04:29 It will be such a disappointing time
04:30 when something like this doesn't exist anymore,
04:32 because this will be the last time
04:34 they use a naturally aspirated V10 in one of these
04:37 without some kind of hybridization or electrification.
04:41 So the next generation of this car
04:42 will be an entirely different beast altogether.
04:45 I'm gonna run you through what these are shortly,
04:47 but come around to the back with me.
04:49 I reckon this is the best angle for this car.
04:52 You have an enormous carbon spoiler here
04:54 that's manually adjustable.
04:56 So you can adjust the tilt on that as well.
04:58 I love that you can literally see pipes through there.
05:01 That is open.
05:02 I could put my hand in there
05:03 and probably burn it somehow.
05:05 When we were in Denver for the EQS SUV launch,
05:07 there was actually a modified Lambo
05:09 that was twin turbocharged.
05:10 And it kind of looked like this where the rear was exposed.
05:13 This is such a cool look.
05:15 You don't even see that tire straight through there as well.
05:18 It is just something else.
05:19 LED taillights there, dual exhaust pipes,
05:22 Lamborghini badge just here,
05:23 and a brake light built into there.
05:25 Now I mentioned before the little key holes here
05:27 on the engine cover and also down on the bonnet as well.
05:30 They basically unlock this.
05:32 And there is a key that I'll grab out now and show you.
05:35 It's located here just next to the driver's foot.
05:39 So this is what actually what looks like
05:41 a 3D printed key, which I absolutely love.
05:44 It's super lightweight.
05:44 It's like a sort of plastic or a carbon
05:46 or something like that.
05:47 This is basically the key that allows you
05:49 to unlock the engine cover
05:51 and also the bonnet down the front there.
05:54 We won't take this off just because
05:56 someone has already damaged this.
05:57 I don't want to damage it even more,
05:59 but it is a two person job and whoever damaged it
06:01 didn't listen to the instructions.
06:02 So we'll overlay some vision of what that looks like.
06:05 But I will get Sean, your help.
06:07 We're gonna unlock this and open it.
06:09 And in fact, it's very similar to my Humvee
06:11 in the operation.
06:12 So you put the key in,
06:13 you turn that to the unlock position.
06:15 Sean, I'll come around and do your side as well.
06:18 Just that I don't trust you, but I trust you.
06:22 Okay, so now what you do,
06:23 you push down on it until it clicks.
06:26 Then we lift this forward.
06:28 That is so cool.
06:32 Wow. Okay.
06:32 So Igor, bring yourself around
06:34 and come and have a look at this.
06:35 If it is windy, you do actually have one of these
06:38 to hold this into position.
06:40 So it doesn't fly away on you.
06:43 This is pretty cool.
06:43 So you do have a storage space here.
06:45 It's like 30 something litres.
06:47 Outside of that, there isn't much storage going on,
06:50 but this is where the exhaust is
06:51 after the air passes through that cooling system
06:54 down the front there.
06:55 And it spits out over the top.
06:56 This is also where you'll find a 12 volt outlet.
06:58 They've got the car cover in here,
07:00 but I suspect maybe you could fit a helmet in there
07:02 or something like that.
07:03 But I love this exposed crash structure down the front here.
07:06 Like they really have just shown you everything.
07:08 Saved weight, but also just shown you
07:10 what is going on under the front here.
07:12 You can see the rest of that carbon weave
07:14 through there as well.
07:15 It's just an absolute masterpiece.
07:17 So very impressive.
07:18 Sean, let's come back and close this.
07:20 I'll explain how this works.
07:21 Okay, so pop this away.
07:23 Then we lower this back down.
07:25 And then once it's back into its home position,
07:28 you click it down and then I'll relock it
07:32 so it doesn't fly open when we go for a bit of a spin.
07:34 And Bob is your uncle.
07:36 So let me know in the comments section below,
07:38 what do you think about the design?
07:40 Are you as enamored as I am with all of this?
07:44 Because I reckon it does look pretty unreal
07:46 for a car that you can legally drive on the road.
07:49 Let me know in the comments section below.
07:50 Okay, so we are inside the Huracan STO.
07:54 We'll start off with the key.
07:56 This is what it looks like.
07:57 It's a bit disappointing actually.
07:58 You've got lock, blank in the middle, unlock,
08:00 and then a little Lamborghini logo there
08:02 and Lamborghini etched on the back.
08:04 Reason I think it's a bit disappointing
08:05 is this is like an old Audi key.
08:08 They sort of stopped using stuff like this ages ago.
08:10 So it would be nice to see
08:12 a slightly more modern version of that.
08:13 It's proximity sensing for the start button.
08:15 So you can leave that in your pocket.
08:17 And then to start the car,
08:18 you lift this cool flap just here
08:19 and hit that start button just there.
08:22 It's metal as well.
08:23 Really cool setup.
08:24 Now, in terms of the design,
08:25 there is a fair bit going on here.
08:26 So stacks of this Alcantara material,
08:29 not only on the steering wheel,
08:30 but on the roof and also the dashboard there,
08:33 more of that carbon.
08:34 So you can see there, carbon here,
08:36 carbon on the door panels as well.
08:38 To reduce weight, they've removed things like carpets.
08:40 So you get this sort of panel down here
08:42 instead of like an actual carpet.
08:45 They've removed like a door handle.
08:47 It is pretty sort of sparse in here
08:48 in terms of those features,
08:50 but it sort of makes up for it being a performance car
08:52 and all that sort of stuff.
08:53 I love these color highlights here.
08:55 So as I mentioned before,
08:56 you can customize a lot of the Lamborghini stuff
08:59 to be whatever you want.
09:00 And in this case here,
09:01 someone's gone to town on orange and black,
09:04 and I think this color combo looks sensational.
09:06 Have a look at these paddle shifters here as well.
09:09 Proper cold to the touch metal.
09:11 They're static, so when you move the wheel,
09:12 they don't move with it,
09:14 but they are so much fun to just grab hold of
09:16 and just fire through.
09:17 Drive mode is down the bottom of the steering wheel as well.
09:19 In terms of your touch points.
09:20 So this is kind of soft there,
09:22 but pretty firm and very firm on the door.
09:25 So when you are driving,
09:25 it's not really overly comfortable
09:27 to rest your arms anywhere.
09:29 How soft are they?
09:30 Well, we've got our durometer.
09:32 We've tested the main surfaces in this cabin.
09:34 If you want to see how this car compares
09:36 to other cars that we've tested before,
09:38 look at the link in the description below.
09:39 Now build quality.
09:40 What's it like?
09:42 So it actually feels quite nice and solid.
09:45 A friend of mine has a Huracan,
09:47 and it's actually been pretty reliable.
09:49 It is effectively a Volkswagen Group product
09:51 beneath the skin.
09:52 So from that point of view, it's fine.
09:53 And our door slam test.
09:54 So you pull this little tab here to open the door.
09:57 (door slamming)
10:00 Despite it missing all the parts,
10:01 it actually sounds pretty nice and strong.
10:03 Now let's talk infotainment.
10:05 This is actually better than I thought it was gonna be.
10:07 I thought this was gonna be a bit sort of chintzy,
10:09 but they've done a good job with it.
10:10 It's an 8.4 inch screen.
10:12 It is sort of pretty straightforward to use.
10:14 You have inbuilt satellite navigation,
10:16 and that is sort of okay.
10:17 It's a little bit laggy there,
10:18 but for the purposes of having satellite navigation,
10:21 it's sort of okay.
10:22 I'll talk about this a little bit more
10:24 when we go for a bit of a drive,
10:25 but this is your volume control just here.
10:27 It's all controlled there on the screen.
10:29 On the radio front, you have AM and FM radio.
10:32 There's no DAB digital radio there.
10:35 And it's, anyway, it's a full speaker sound system,
10:37 and the sound system is quite frankly terrible.
10:39 So really missing out on too much there.
10:42 Other functionality,
10:43 I'll run you through the phone apps in a sec,
10:44 but there is actually a telemetry system here,
10:46 and that's what this camera,
10:48 plus the camera just behind me is for.
10:51 You can basically set the track that you're at,
10:53 and it will then record your track laps.
10:55 It'll then overlay information from the track drive
10:59 that you've just done as well.
11:00 So I think it's a pretty cool setup,
11:02 and yeah, it's nice to say that, you know,
11:04 if you are going to be taking this car on the track,
11:06 you do actually have the ability to record the fun
11:09 that you're having without having to put
11:10 aftermarket systems in place
11:12 to achieve everything you need to achieve.
11:14 On the smartphone mirroring front,
11:15 you do have Apple CarPlay optionally available.
11:17 It's like a six-ish thousand dollar option.
11:19 Now, so it's actually quite a nice integration.
11:21 So it takes up that full screen reasonably quick,
11:24 but it does all the work that you need it to do.
11:26 Head of the driver, you have another digital display here.
11:29 It's nice and quick and very sharp as well.
11:31 When you do switch through the different drive modes,
11:33 everything changes there ahead of the driver as well,
11:35 just to give you a bit of configuration
11:37 and customizability as well.
11:39 So safety discussion.
11:41 It's going to be a short one
11:42 'cause there really isn't that much
11:43 in the way of safety features here.
11:45 There's no blind spot monitoring,
11:46 no AAB or anything like that.
11:48 You do have an auto-dimming rear vision mirror.
11:50 There are no front or rear parking sensors,
11:52 but you do have cruise control,
11:54 not radar cruise control, just normal cruise control,
11:56 and you do have a reverse view camera.
11:58 I'll show you what that looks like.
11:59 I'm going to fire it up for that,
12:00 which I definitely don't hate doing.
12:03 Pop that into reverse.
12:05 It's actually not terrible.
12:07 Quality's not too bad.
12:08 I can clearly see what it says on our suitcase there.
12:10 So that's all sort of pretty straightforward.
12:13 And then in terms of our connectivity options,
12:16 you have two USB ports here just behind the driver.
12:19 One of those is the smartphone mirroring port.
12:21 You also have a 12-volt outlet here as well.
12:23 And what about your storage?
12:25 You do actually surprisingly have a couple of places
12:27 to put things.
12:28 So your phone can live in this little slot up the top here,
12:31 although it does kind of fly out if you accelerate hard.
12:33 You do have this slot down here as well.
12:36 And there's also this one where it can go
12:38 underneath this sort of center armrest thing.
12:40 Unfortunately with the STO, they removed the cup holder.
12:44 So your bottle was able to actually go into a cup holder
12:47 that came out of here, sort of Porsche style,
12:49 but that is now gone.
12:50 So there is nowhere to store any drinks inside this car.
12:53 I do have a glove box there, but that is positively tiny.
12:57 So let's talk comfort.
12:59 So you have single zone automatic climate control.
13:02 You've got heated seats here as well,
13:03 which is also pretty straightforward.
13:05 Now there's an interesting story with the seats as well.
13:08 So the seats look really cool.
13:10 They've got this custom design on them
13:12 as part of that Ad Personam program,
13:14 stitched Lamborghini up the top there,
13:16 Alcantara through the center.
13:18 They hug you in nicely as well,
13:19 but they actually have a much better seat
13:22 that typically comes standard with this car,
13:24 and it includes a harness as well,
13:26 like we saw in the GT4 RS.
13:27 The reason it can't be sold in Australia
13:29 is because the airbag that's embedded in that seat
13:32 isn't big enough for our standards.
13:34 So you can see the safety nannies get involved
13:35 in all this stuff,
13:36 even though this is a race car for the road,
13:39 they've stopped our ability
13:40 to actually get the proper seats in here,
13:41 which is a little bit disappointing.
13:43 Probably have to switch them out for yourself
13:44 if you do end up buying one of these.
13:46 Seats though are electrically adjustable,
13:48 so you can go forwards, backwards.
13:49 Your backrest can go forwards, backwards.
13:51 You also have lumbar support and adjustment for the front
13:55 and back of the seat as well.
13:56 So they are pretty sort of comfy,
13:58 even though the suspension is quite firm.
14:00 And then on the steering front,
14:01 the steering offers both tilts and reach adjustment.
14:05 And on our reach test,
14:06 all of this stuff is easy to reach while you're driving.
14:08 (car engine roaring)
14:12 Okay, so we've just hit the road in the Huracan STO.
14:16 Now, STO mode is kind of the road mode.
14:18 It is the most civil of the modes.
14:20 And as you can hear in my voice,
14:22 we're still bouncing around a fair bit.
14:24 It is still pretty firm in that STO mode,
14:26 but it's actually nowhere near as bad
14:28 as I thought it was gonna be.
14:29 The GT4 RS we had here recently was about as firm as this.
14:32 And both of those are very extreme
14:34 sort of race cars for the road.
14:36 I even love here, that little indicator just there.
14:39 It shuts off cylinders to save fuel.
14:41 Then when you lean on the throttle,
14:43 you can hear them spark back to life.
14:45 In fact, STO mode, I'd argue it's a bit too sedate.
14:48 Like right now we're in seventh gear at 50 Ks an hour,
14:52 and I can barely hear a thing.
14:53 So it is sort of pretty quiet.
14:56 Running through the engine.
14:56 So under us just there is a 5.2 liter
15:00 naturally aspirated V10 engine.
15:02 It makes just under 500 kilowatts of power,
15:05 which for a naturally aspirated engine is out of this world.
15:08 And a little under 600 Newton meters of torque.
15:11 That's all mated to a seven speed
15:13 dual clutch automatic transmission.
15:15 I'll show you what that feels like when we roll to a stop.
15:17 In fact, I'll put stop start on
15:20 just so you can get a vibe for this.
15:22 So it's too hot for stop start,
15:24 but I'll just roll onto the throttle there.
15:27 Feels really good.
15:28 It is funny how the less you spend on a car,
15:30 the more that it has a dual clutch,
15:32 the worse it actually feels at low speeds.
15:35 But this is actually a really comfortable
15:37 driving experience.
15:38 Now Lamborghini claims a fuel economy
15:42 of just under 14 liters per 100 Ks.
15:46 We're sitting on 18.7 there in the corner.
15:49 We have, just because of the rain that has just started here,
15:51 we actually filmed a lot of the faster driving earlier today
15:54 and that fuel economy I think is pretty impressive
15:57 for what is effectively a race car for the road.
16:00 In terms of road noise, it is very noisy in here,
16:03 especially on course chip roads.
16:05 We've used that calibrated sound meter to get a reading
16:07 and yeah, it confirms that it is quite noisy,
16:09 but it is what it is.
16:10 It's pretty much a race car
16:12 and you shouldn't expect anything less.
16:14 Okay, sine wave time.
16:15 Let's crank the speed up to 130 maximum speed.
16:18 In Australia, it's a speed we test all the cars here
16:21 on our sine wave to see what body control's like.
16:23 Unsurprisingly, it is impeccable.
16:28 That's pretty impressive.
16:29 Yeah, so look, this car has adaptive damping
16:31 and the system works quite well.
16:33 There is a noticeable difference between the drive modes.
16:35 Then in addition to that,
16:37 to help with low speed maneuvers and that kind of thing,
16:39 it actually has a really tight turning circle
16:41 of under 12 meters
16:42 and that's thanks to rear wheel steering.
16:44 The rear wheels will actually turn in
16:46 when you start putting in lock at low speed
16:47 and it means that you can do things like U-turns
16:49 and stuff like that without too many dramas.
16:52 Now, just as the rain starts falling,
16:54 we're gonna go across our bumpy road
16:56 because we do this in every single car we test.
16:58 This is representative of like the worst road in Australia
17:01 and we do this at 90 k's an hour.
17:04 And this basically just tests ride compliance
17:06 and what this is like as a road car
17:08 because according to Lambo,
17:09 this is homologated for the road.
17:12 I'm not gonna lie, it is firm
17:15 and this is a shockingly bad road.
17:18 See what it's like over our condensed sine wave here.
17:21 Here we go.
17:22 It's not bad.
17:25 There you go.
17:28 You can drive your Lambo down a very bumpy road
17:30 if you need to.
17:31 Now, what about your visibility?
17:33 I'm not gonna lie, it's not great.
17:36 Down the front there, it's perfect.
17:37 The windscreen's great, no dramas.
17:39 Wing mirrors are nice and big
17:40 so you can clearly see sides of the car
17:42 and anything down the side there as well.
17:44 There is no blind spot monitoring
17:45 so you have to be super careful
17:47 when you are changing lanes to do head checks and stuff.
17:49 Visibility out the rear is literally non-existent.
17:52 There are like holes there for light
17:53 and outside of that, I can't see anything.
17:55 There's a roll cage and like an engine cover there
17:57 that get in the way of everything
17:59 so you're not gonna be seeing much out of there.
18:01 These steering wheel controls are interesting.
18:03 I've driven a Ferrari recently with these
18:05 but this is the first time I've driven a Lambo
18:07 with these steering controls.
18:08 So you put the indicator on by flicking that over.
18:11 It's like a motorbike so turn it off by pushing it in
18:14 and then the other way as well.
18:15 You've got your wiper controls here too
18:16 which we're gonna need in a second
18:18 and it has basic cruise control as well,
18:20 nothing sort of too fancy
18:21 and then controls here for changing the trip computer.
18:24 Only problem is, if you are using this as a daily,
18:27 there's no ability here to like change audio or anything.
18:31 You have to take your eyes off the road,
18:33 go all the way down here to press the volume control
18:36 and then you can adjust the volume down here.
18:38 There's no real option to do it on the steering wheel
18:40 and I think that's probably a bit of a miss.
18:42 If you're gonna obligate a car for the road,
18:44 you need to be able to do road stuff like that
18:45 and I think that they probably should have
18:47 maybe foregone one of these switches for a stalk
18:50 and just put some of the controls that I need
18:52 for the radio there as well.
18:53 So not a big deal but yeah,
18:55 obviously something they could have thought of.
18:56 Now let's talk drive mode.
18:57 So STO is just the normal road mode.
19:00 Trofeo is the go fast mode and then Piaggia is rain mode.
19:04 So I'm gonna go down to Trofeo.
19:06 Everything lights up there.
19:08 It goes into manual mode as well.
19:10 Wow, it is so stiff.
19:11 (engine revving)
19:15 That sound I would never get old of.
19:17 (engine revving)
19:20 The noise is ridiculous.
19:24 I don't even know if you can hear me but.
19:26 This thing is out of control.
19:33 Oh man, so it is sitting dead flat through these corners.
19:37 The brakes have just immense bite.
19:43 Gearbox is nice and fast as well.
19:45 Steering is just impeccable too.
19:48 You would genuinely never pick this as a rear wheel drive car
19:54 when it was cold it was kind of under steering
19:57 all over the place but now that the tires
19:59 have a bit of warmth in them,
20:01 it is just out of this world.
20:02 All right, here comes our back straight.
20:04 We're all onto that.
20:06 Far out, okay, here we go.
20:07 (laughing)
20:12 Yes.
20:13 That is unreal.
20:20 Oh my God, I can't even look at the camera
20:22 to talk to you guys.
20:23 This thing is just on another level of just insanity.
20:26 Far out.
20:29 This is just out of control and the noise is just stupid.
20:35 (engine revving)
20:41 Tell you what, you can make electric cars
20:43 as fast as you want.
20:44 You can plumb in all the stupid sounds that you want.
20:47 It will never replace the sound
20:49 of this naturally aspirated V10 engine
20:52 that is sitting literally right there as well.
20:55 Oh man, that is seriously, seriously unreal.
21:02 Absolutely unreal, I love it.
21:03 One of the coolest things about this is
21:09 if you think to the last, the Performante,
21:11 that was all wheel drive.
21:12 This is rear wheel drive to mimic the race car.
21:15 And I don't know, it just has a whole different vibe to it.
21:17 So it is lighter due to that all wheel drive system
21:20 disappearing and all the carbon,
21:22 the lightweight windscreen,
21:23 really does pull all the weight out of it.
21:25 I've driven a Performante before
21:26 and it is an incredibly quick car
21:28 and I think it's helped by that all wheel drive system.
21:30 In fact, it's quicker to 100 Ks an hour than this is.
21:33 So I think that stuff helps
21:34 and it helps for handling as well
21:36 'cause you can actually get a bit more traction
21:37 out of a corner.
21:38 This, when we started driving it today,
21:40 it had a stack of understeer before the tyres warmed up
21:43 and you're gonna get that all the time
21:44 with these semi-slick tyres.
21:46 Like they need a bit of heat before they warm up.
21:48 So that is where an all wheel drive system
21:50 really comes into its own.
21:51 So this does have a bit of a split personality.
21:54 Before everything's warm,
21:55 it is a bit chaotic and all over the place.
21:57 Whereas once everything is warm
21:59 and you see that tacho going all the way through to redline,
22:01 it's just in another world altogether.
22:03 I also love all this telemetry stuff
22:05 and what you see here in terms of temperatures.
22:07 That really helps you understand how far along you are
22:09 in warming the car up and having it ready for road use.
22:12 The tyre temperatures are great
22:14 because when they went green, I actually had traction.
22:16 So it does show you that that stuff works
22:19 and it gives you a better indication
22:20 of when you can actually go harder
22:21 without sending yourself off into the bushes.
22:23 (car engine roaring)
22:26 Okay, this is the part I've been looking forward to.
22:29 Let's do a little bit of performance testing.
22:31 We'll see if we can match the claims
22:33 that Lambo has for the STO.
22:36 Gotta keep in mind, this is rear wheel drive.
22:38 It was a little wet earlier today,
22:40 so I don't know how we're gonna go for traction,
22:41 but we'll give it a shot anyway.
22:42 So I'm gonna put it down into Trofeo.
22:45 We're going to switch off stability control
22:47 by pushing ESC off.
22:49 Then to engage launch control,
22:51 you basically hold the throttle
22:52 and the brake at the same time.
22:55 It'll say thrust mode possible, and then away we go.
22:58 I'm gonna manually shift gears as well
22:59 because I don't think it will shift the gears
23:02 in launch control.
23:03 And I don't really wanna hit the limiter at pace.
23:06 So here we go.
23:07 The official time is three seconds flat.
23:09 This is rear wheel drive,
23:10 so I'll be amazed if it achieves that,
23:11 but we'll give it a crack anyway.
23:12 Here we go.
23:14 Oh, that sounds so good.
23:15 Here we go.
23:16 (car engine roaring)
23:19 Oh my God.
23:35 I forgot to mention that we were gonna go
23:36 all the way through to 120,
23:37 but we absolutely eclipsed that.
23:40 Wow.
23:40 Off the line, this thing hauls ass,
23:43 and it sounds incredible too.
23:45 That was unreal.
23:46 I had no traction off the line though,
23:48 so obviously that's going to be an issue.
23:50 3.51 seconds with no traction,
23:53 and our 80 to 120,
23:55 holy crap, 1.54 seconds for 80 to 120.
23:59 I'm pretty sure that's the fastest we've ever tested here.
24:02 That is unreal.
24:04 Wow, that is unreal.
24:05 So super impressed with that.
24:07 Let's go back and do a break,
24:09 because according to Lambo,
24:10 this stops from 100 to zero in just 30 meters.
24:14 30 meters.
24:14 So yeah, let's go back.
24:16 We'll do a break from 100
24:18 and see if we can match that claim.
24:19 Okay, I'm tipping it won't be hard
24:21 to get up to 100 here for our break.
24:23 So here we go.
24:25 I'll get it up to 100.
24:26 We'll see if we can make that claim.
24:27 Everything is secure.
24:29 Here it is.
24:31 (engine revving)
24:34 I cannot wait to see that footage played back
24:42 'cause the fatness around my face was like,
24:46 trying to peel off.
24:47 So let's see how that went.
24:49 Far out.
24:50 Okay, so 100 to zero.
24:52 Ooh, 3.13 seconds and 35.9 meters.
24:56 So 5.9 meters off the claim there.
24:59 So, hmm.
25:01 Look, tires probably aren't warm,
25:03 all that sort of stuff.
25:04 I think that claim would have been achieved
25:05 with warm tires and brakes,
25:06 but look, still an impressive stopping distance nevertheless.
25:10 If you do wanna see how this compares
25:11 to other cars that we've tested here before
25:13 in the same conditions,
25:14 have a look at the link in the description below.
25:17 Okay, and the moment you've all been waiting for.
25:20 How fast will it go in reverse?
25:22 I'll engage reverse there.
25:24 Here we go.
25:25 (engine revving)
25:27 Oh, that was uneventful.
25:30 36 kilometers an hour.
25:33 Okay, what an unreal experience.
25:37 Look, I'm glad this exists
25:39 because it's such a ridiculous car
25:41 and it makes no sense for anyone to buy this
25:44 because I think a lot of people that will buy it,
25:46 they're not going to take it to the track.
25:47 And look, if you do, good on you.
25:48 I think, you know, all the power to you.
25:51 But as something that you wanna just sit
25:52 in your lounge room at home and just look at,
25:54 it is unreal.
25:55 It turns so many heads.
25:57 And look, Porsches are amazing.
25:59 They're great fun to drive
26:00 and they're really good track weapons,
26:01 but this just has another presence altogether.
26:05 It is just in another league entirely.
26:06 So let me know what you reckon in the comment section below.
26:09 Do you think this is ridiculous?
26:10 Would you buy one anyway if you won the lotto tomorrow?
26:13 Have you bought one?
26:14 If so, let me know.
26:16 And let me know if you do take it to the track
26:17 and if you have fun with it.
26:18 So let me know in the comment section down below.
