00:00 So Treasure Island is the story of good versus evil.
00:05 Good being the Hawkins family, evil being Long John Silver
00:09 and his two trusty sidekick pirates.
00:11 In this case, that's pint-sized Pilchard,
00:15 who is played by Stephen Purdon,
00:17 and peg-leg Pucklebumb, who is played by Grado.
00:22 - A magical adventure of fun, goodies, baddies,
00:28 lots of panto, slapstick stuff, great music,
00:31 great adventures, and great fun.
00:34 - I think pantomime is engraved into Scottish culture,
00:38 but, and I've said this for years,
00:40 the pavilion panto is different to any panto you go see.
00:45 - We kind of make it local,
00:46 because it's the story of Treasure Island,
00:48 which is a very well-known story,
00:50 and we've kind of made it more Glasgow,
00:52 because it's all based with Glasgow characters
00:53 and Scottish wordplay and puns and things like that.
00:57 - You've got the story, you've got the lovely sets
01:01 and the great outfits, but it's steeped in panto.
01:06 - I've been involved with the pavilion panto
01:08 for the past eight years,
01:10 and I also worked for the company
01:12 that's producing it this year,
01:14 down in Kilmarnock for 12 years.
01:16 - The pavilion was always the theatre
01:18 that I went to see panto, and I've seen it everywhere else,
01:20 and I love it everywhere,
01:22 but there's something special about the pavilion,
01:24 and we always say the audience
01:28 are just as big a part of the cast as we are,
01:31 so they're a bit cheeky, they can be a bit hard sometimes,
01:34 they can take a joke, they like a wee double entendre.
01:40 - It's just a magical venue, it's just absolutely brilliant.
01:42 The audience are there, they're like the extra cast member,
01:45 they're so intimate that everybody's with you
01:47 every step of the way.
01:49 - Yeah, I mean, a pavilion panto's a force to be reckoned with
01:52 and this year is absolutely no different,
01:54 so there's lots of Glasgow patter in this one.
01:58 - They should come and see Treasure Island
01:59 because they will have an absolutely brilliant time.
02:03 They will laugh from start to finish,
02:04 they'll go out singing all the songs,
02:06 and they'll have lots of happy panto memories.
