Israel-Hamas deal: What we know so far?

  • last year
There is consensus between Hamas and the Israelis that a truce period will start Thursday morning.
Under the truce, Hamas says the initial 50 captives will be released in exchange for 150 Palestinian women and children held in Israeli prisons.
Israeli media is saying it will start around 6:30am (04:30 GMT), while Hamas says 10am (08:00 GMT).
The Israeli army says its troops are continuing to operate in the Gaza Strip after agreeing to a four-day pause in hostilities.
Foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan welcome the pause but emphasise the deal should be extended.
