00:00 I'm Willie Colon and this is Belly Up, the one-stop encyclopedia for drink making on the internet.
00:05 It's about that time and Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
00:08 Unfortunately, many families are scrapping large get-togethers in fear of giving Grandma the big C.
00:14 And I'm not talking about cock, so Turkey Day will be a little different this year.
00:18 One thing that won't change is booze.
00:21 A few weeks ago, Lars and I made an apple pie themed drink.
00:24 Because we're fat, we're going to try to one-up that today by making a Thanksgiving themed pumpkin pie martini.
00:30 It's the perfect amount of sweet and savory to mind you, pilgrims.
00:33 We're nice and generous people.
00:35 And totally not filthy, disease-ridden colonizers who came over from the mainland to ruin a bunch of Native Americans' lives by offering fucking just STDs.
00:45 Now let's belly up to the bar and let's get to drinking.
00:49 Alright everybody, it's Thanksgiving.
00:51 Yeah!
00:52 You're counting calories.
00:54 We don't.
00:55 You're deciding, should I have the drinks or should I have the dessert?
01:00 What I'm saying is you can have both.
01:03 And the way you can do that is with a pumpkin pie martini.
01:07 So I'm going to make a pumpkin pie martini today for a guy who should count calories.
01:12 You shouldn't.
01:13 But he doesn't enough.
01:14 Really?
01:15 Ingredients are really easy.
01:17 Pumpkin puree, vanilla vodka, dark rum.
01:20 Bars.
01:21 And half.
01:22 We're finishing it with graham cracker crumbs, a little bit of maple syrup, cinnamon sugar, cinnamon stick, and some whipped cream.
01:29 Get right to the drink.
01:30 Can you tell the people that you've never had sweet potato pie?
01:33 Yes, we did radio today.
01:35 Greatest Thanksgiving pie.
01:37 I'm on coconut custard, Willie went sweet potato.
01:39 I've never had sweet potato pie in my life.
01:41 Which is absurd.
01:43 It's going to change this year.
01:45 But this is a pumpkin pie martini.
01:46 Pumpkin pie martini.
01:48 Two tablespoons of the pumpkin puree.
01:51 These cans are in every grocery store during the holiday season.
01:56 To that, two ounces of vanilla vodka.
02:00 If you don't have vanilla flavored vodka.
02:02 You can make it.
02:03 Yeah, you can take a regular bottle of vodka, throw a couple of vanilla beans in there, let them sit for a week, and then you have vanilla flavored vodka.
02:12 I'm going to do one ounce of dark rum.
02:14 If you only have regular rum, put it away, go out and buy a little dark rum.
02:18 This is one ounce of dark rum.
02:20 So two ounces of the vodka, one ounce of the dark rum.
02:24 We're going to do a half ounce of half and half.
02:27 Easy to remember.
02:29 I'll tell you what, making this martini, I'm trying to decide if I want to have this before Thanksgiving dinner or after Thanksgiving dinner.
02:37 That's a good question.
02:39 I would go post dinner.
02:42 This has a dessert-y type feel to me, but I don't know.
02:45 It's also a little bit filling.
02:48 Why don't you do one of each?
02:51 I'm going to add a little bit of maple syrup because I just need to ramp up the sweetness.
02:55 So I'm going to do maybe about a tablespoon of maple syrup.
03:00 Everything's in the shaker filled with ice.
03:04 And here we go.
03:05 Keep it cold.
03:06 Give it a nice little shake.
03:08 A lot of stuff going on there.
03:09 You've got to give it a good shake because you've got that puree.
03:12 You're going to make the turkey dance?
03:13 No turkey dance for me.
03:15 Behold me.
03:16 I just wear stupid fucking hats.
03:18 It's funny.
03:19 I shake this with this hand.
03:20 I shake other things with this hand.
03:23 All right.
03:24 How we serve this?
03:25 Martini glass.
03:26 I already soaked the edge of the martini glass with maple syrup.
03:28 Then we're going to go into the graham cracker crumbs.
03:32 I bought the pre-made graham cracker crumbs because we have an unlimited budget here at Belly Up.
03:38 If you don't have an unlimited budget, just crush up some graham crackers in a plastic bag.
03:43 Yeah, there you go.
03:44 If you don't have a plastic bag, then maybe you should be like a light beer guy or something like that.
03:48 Right, Louie?
03:49 So that's a perfectly crusted glass.
03:51 We have the shaken up pumpkin pie martini.
03:55 These are big martini glasses, so I don't think--
03:58 Ooh, look at the color.
03:59 I don't think this is going to fill the glass.
04:00 That's pretty.
04:01 That is a pretty color.
04:02 Real pretty.
04:05 This is my loudmouth soup glass.
04:07 I didn't fill up the martini glass all the way.
04:09 Why is that?
04:10 Why didn't you, lunch?
04:11 Because I got a little something for you, Louie.
04:12 Uh-oh.
04:13 Right?
04:14 Since it is a dessert-y thing and since it is the holidays--
04:16 Ooh, wait!
04:17 --a little float of that around there.
04:19 Nice and easy.
04:20 Right?
04:21 Not too bad.
04:22 And then to that, we'll garnish with a cinnamon stick.
04:28 Boom.
04:29 And a little dusting.
04:31 A little sprinkle.
04:33 Of the graham cracker crumbs.
04:34 Just a little bit.
04:35 And that--
04:39 I like that.
04:40 --a pumpkin pie martini.
04:41 Boom.
04:42 I'm going to taste it.
04:43 I'm going to serve this to my best friend in the world,
04:46 Mr. Willie Colon.
04:48 You let me know what you think.
04:50 I can't wait to hear.
04:53 Graham cracker.
04:54 I know you love graham crackers.
04:55 It's better, right?
04:56 You know what does it for everybody out there?
04:59 On top of the whipped cream, the graham crackers.
05:01 Because it brings-- and then the maple syrup and the--
05:03 a little bit of texture, a little bit of flavor.
05:05 I know you nailed this one.
05:06 I know you drank from that side.
05:08 I'm drinking from the other side.
05:09 Please do.
05:10 It's all right if you drink from my side.
05:11 Corona?
05:12 [LAUGHTER]
05:13 There we go.
05:16 Oh, that's macho.
05:17 That's way better.
05:18 Oh, yeah, there it is.
05:19 Can we admit this isn't the manliest drink to have?
05:21 Oh, no.
05:22 That's not the manliest.
05:23 So this isn't for somebody who's macho and thin.
05:26 But if you're very comfortable with your sexuality,
05:28 you don't really care about your waistline,
05:30 this is the holiday drink for you.
05:32 Pumpkin pie martini, you're welcome.
05:34 Belly up.
05:35 [MAKES NOISES]
05:37 [WHOOSH]
05:40 (whooshing)
