The Golden Bachelor_ Jesse Palmer on Gerry's 'Gut-Wrenching’ Finale (Exclusive)
Transcript
00:00 Jesse Palmer breaks down everything to come for the first-ever Golden Bachelor, revealing
00:05 Gary Turner's final goodbye is by far the most heartbreaking.
00:10 "I'm down to two people. And realize that one of those two has to go home. And when
00:19 you're down to the last two people, over that amount of time and that much investment, you
00:26 really have strong feelings for them. And it's, oh my god, it was an incredibly bad
00:31 situation."
00:33 Leading up to the season finale, fans saw Gary have his fantasy suite dates with both
00:37 Lesley and Teresa.
00:38 "The relationship with Lesley was significantly improved through the course of our night last
00:46 night. Waking up to Teresa this morning, I feel like it's the first day of the rest of
00:53 my life."
00:54 And those romantic overnight dates were preceded by a convo with the show's host about whether
00:59 or not Gary would be knocking boots when the cameras turned off.
01:02 "All of a sudden now my generation can show America how authentic we can be."
01:08 Now Jesse tells ET that's a conversation he's never going to forget. Talking to a 72-year-old
01:14 man about intimacy and what he expects going into fantasy suites,
01:19 "There were moments I just wanted to jump into the volcano that was behind us there
01:23 in Costa Rica."
01:24 "Is there any way of preparing for that? I mean, seriously, is there a direction book
01:29 for that? An instruction book?"
01:30 Later in the episode, Gary tells the cameras that he made his choice between Lesley and
01:34 Teresa.
01:35 "I know that I can't put it off any longer."
01:38 "As hard as it is, I think I've made my decision."
01:45 But the finale's preview shows both women meeting Gary's family, leaving some to wonder
01:50 if he changed his mind.
01:52 Now Jesse tells ET he's letting the thing play out until the very, very end. And part
01:57 of that is the women meeting his family.
02:00 He's had a lot of very difficult goodbyes throughout the course of all of this, but
02:04 the final goodbye is by far the most heartbreaking, the most difficult for him. I think people
02:10 are going to see that at the finale.
02:12 "I think you will be moved as much as I was moved in the moment."
02:16 And in a preview for the season finale, Gary is open about his struggles.
02:20 "I think I made a mistake."
02:21 "The only time I've ever felt worse in my whole life is when my wife passed away, and
02:26 this is a god-f---ing close second."
02:28 Jesse explains that he felt for Gary so much because he could see how much pain he was
02:33 in.
02:34 "That's the most emotional goodbye that I've ever seen in the show's history. From Bachelor,
02:39 Bachelorette, Paradise, I mean, it's really gutting. It's heart-wrenching."
02:44 "You are going to see something that has never happened before."
02:47 Jesse adds that the conversation was raw, intense, and a moment he's never going to
02:52 forget.
02:53 "There were moments when I really felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest."
02:57 While Gary, who's said he's in love with both Leslie and Teresa, has had some hard goodbyes
03:02 this season, according to Jesse, it's nothing compared to what fans are going to see on
03:06 the last episode.
03:08 All of it will play out during a live finale with the top two women on hand to break it
03:12 all down.
03:13 But Jesse assures us, Gary finds love. It will be an emotional rollercoaster. There
03:19 is no doubt.
03:20 "I'm so excited to be back on the show. I'm so excited to be back on the show. I'm so
03:25 excited to be back on the show. I'm so excited to be back on the show. I'm so excited to
