Thanksgiving meal served to homeless living in LA's Skid Row

Homeless and low-income residents of Los Angeles gather for a Thanksgiving meal being served in the city's central Skid Row district. "Thanksgiving, I usually spend by myself" says Carlos Schmidt, one of those benefitting from the meal, which has been organised by the Los Angeles Mission.

00:10 Everybody's coming together and they're putting their resources together and
00:16 they're showing love to people, especially me.
00:19 Thanksgiving, usually I spend by myself, but I'm here, good music playing.
00:24 Everybody's smiling and enjoying themselves, having a good time.

00:38 This is my 21st holiday meal with them.
00:49 So I've been here for ten years, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
00:54 So yeah, I'm starting year 11, my 21st visit.
00:58 I ate in the Los Angeles Mission a lot of times during the holidays.
01:02 So ironic, I'm now full circle, actually serving the meal where I got served,
01:08 providing beds where I once slept.
01:10 And so it's pretty amazing, actually.
