00:00 - She's probably involved in this iconic, iconic film.
00:03 Just has something about the man.
00:06 Honestly, it's surreal.
00:09 Pinching myself, but I'm gonna be very, very,
00:11 very honest with you.
00:13 I did Color Purple on Broadway years ago.
00:16 I think 2007.
00:18 And I said that I would never do it again.
00:23 I did.
00:23 See, this role is very taxing.
00:28 It's not the easiest.
00:30 But at the time, I was carrying my cross and hers.
00:33 My life was not where it should have been.
00:36 I was young.
00:36 And so I couldn't let go of the character.
00:42 Plus, this is my first time acting.
00:44 I come from music.
00:46 All of my castmates, Juilliard, studied this.
00:50 They took me from the music world and placed me in,
00:53 and I couldn't understand why at the time.
00:57 And now I see why.
00:58 I am Seeley.

01:08 - Um.
01:08 That made it even heavier for me to do it this time,
01:12 'cause I'm thinking, these are some bigwigs.
01:15 These are some legends.
01:17 They have created a legacy for themselves.
01:21 And so the fact that they trusted all of my,
01:24 I call them family.
01:26 All of my family.
01:27 To do something like this, we all decided,
01:29 we gotta go in, and we can't play.
01:31 We can't half-step.
01:33 I had to learn how to tap dance.
01:35 That was hard.
01:37 There were gruesome hours.
01:41 There was live singing on set.
01:43 And singing is my thing,
01:45 but not at five and six o'clock in the morning.
01:48 But you keep thinking about the director, Blitz.
01:51 You think about Oprah, what this means to her.
01:54 Scott Sanders, Spielberg, Quincy Jones.
01:58 And it makes you wanna bring your A game.
02:00 - This is your life.
02:01 You deserve every moment of it.
