00:00 called I Felt Like It, The Innocent Criminals.
00:04 Let's rock and roll.
00:08 The first time that Silverchair performed live on television
00:13 was back in March 1993 when they were called The Innocent Criminals.
00:19 They were appearing on the NBN telethon, NBN being the local TV station in their
00:23 hometown of Newcastle. I happened to be on the judging panel of
00:27 the overnight talent quest of the 93 telethon.
00:30 That's me seated alongside Miss Kim of Romper Room fame
00:34 and her puppet sidekick Mr Doobie. Now I must confess
00:39 I don't actually remember much about that performance
00:43 by The Innocent Criminals. Sorry, I know fans are going to be appalled
00:48 but I do hope that I said something kind and encouraging
00:51 like Mr Doobie would expect.

00:58 I've just finished reading Love and Pain, the new book by Ben Gillies and Chris
01:07 Joannou and which sent me back to the Spotify
01:10 podcast Who Is Daniel Johns from a couple of years ago. They're great
01:14 reminders of the excellent adventures these boys had coming from
01:18 Newcastle and then going around the world as
01:21 teenage rock stars and we'll always have that footage
01:24 of that NBN telethon performance back in March 1993.
01:29 So as Miss Kim on Romper Room would say, ready please Mr Music.
