00:00 Today I'm going to talk about one of my tours, which is Lost Cinemas of Sunderland Town Centre.
00:04 Nobody used the word movie in the early 60s, late 60s yes.
00:08 Now just talking about language, we never used to say I'm going to the cinema.
00:11 Everybody would say I'm going to the pictures.
00:13 So we'd always arrive, I don't know, halfway through the B movie
00:17 and I thought that's just what everybody did.
00:19 Because in those days you'd have a charrettes, ladies with nice uniforms and torches
00:23 to kind of guide you in and you have to sort of squeeze in past everybody.
00:26 And you'd just stay until the whole programme finished and then start that again.
00:30 And you'd say, oh this is where we came in.
00:31 And suddenly along the bottom of the screen came the words Sunderland 2 and Newcastle 0.
00:36 I'm going to sing here so I apologise.
00:38 We're all pals together, we're miners of the ABC.
00:43 And we had to sing the last bit really loud.
