00:06 >> How's it feel to take Cy Hall?
00:08 >> It's good.
00:10 Credit our guys and onward.
00:14 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:17 >> Seemed like there was a lot of momentum for Iowa State heading into this week.
00:22 Did you feel in some ways you were kind of getting overlooked, I guess?
00:27 >> I don't look at it like that ever.
00:30 Competitors focus on the things that they can control.
00:34 And we got guys that have tremendous scoring ability.
00:39 And I'm not sure that showed up out there.
00:41 We were beat up in the stall call department.
00:47 And so we have a lot of work to do.
00:48 That's where I'm at.
00:49 We're moving forward.
00:51 This is important.
00:53 It was the next event.
00:56 Glory to God, credit to our guys, and we're moving on.
01:01 This guy is the one that needs to be talking.
01:03 I mean, he's probably lose a team point here if I talk about
01:08 the officiating in his match, but we'll let him talk.
01:12 I'm good.
01:13 I appreciate these guys.
01:16 I appreciate this guy.
01:18 >> [INAUDIBLE]
01:24 >> You as a competitor,
01:27 you have to know that all those external circumstances
01:32 shouldn't determine your match, regardless of who the ref is,
01:36 regardless of whether they're biased one way or another.
01:39 You have to persevere through that.
01:42 And you just know that as a competitor.
01:43 So in my head, during the match, before the match, I knew that was probably coming.
01:49 And during the match, it didn't rub me the wrong way.
01:53 I was just in the match, and I was ready to go, and I was ready to deal with it.
01:58 >> Can you describe the energy and intensity level of that match?
02:03 >> Yeah, the intensity was high, but it wasn't as high as I'd like it to be.
02:09 I wrestle at a much higher pace, and there's adjustments to be made.
02:14 The energy, the atmosphere, it's wonderful.
02:18 I love the high energy, regardless of whether it's at home or away.
02:22 I feed off of it no matter what, so.
02:24 >> Did Anthony do anything to slow you down, or
02:28 why wasn't that pace quite what you wanted it to be?
02:31 >> Yeah, he made some good adjustments.
02:33 Maybe he watched some film.
02:36 Maybe it's just the particular style that he wrestles.
02:39 But I know what I have to fix, and I know how I have to adjust
02:44 to make sure that never happens again, and I'm just excited for that.
02:47 >> What was it like watching Gabe Arnold get that win?
02:51 >> It's incredibly exciting.
02:52 You know what your teammates have within them, and
02:59 you know what they're capable of.
03:01 So to see that shine through more and
03:04 more with guys like Gabe Arnold, cuz he's young, it's a wonderful thing.
03:10 >> Sorry if I missed this already, but what were you able to capitalize on in
03:14 a sudden victory to get that decisive takedown?
03:17 >> I found an opening, and it was an opening that I could see during the match,
03:22 but I was a little hesitant to capitalize on.
03:26 But I did, and that's what matters right now, and
03:31 moving forward, I'll capitalize on it more often.
03:34 >> Two more.
03:35 >> From your athlete perspective, how did it feel to not only get a win on ESPN, but
03:42 really what did it mean for you as an athlete to have your sport and
03:45 this jewel specifically showcased on such a large stage?
03:48 >> Yeah, the first question is kind of like, it is what it is.
03:53 But the second question is a much better question, in my opinion.
03:56 I really feel an honor, and
04:01 I also feel that this is something that we need as a sport.
04:06 And to be able to have that platform right now on ESPN for this duel,
04:12 that was awesome, and I'd like to be a part of that as much as possible to grow
04:15 this sport.
04:16 >> All right. >> Thanks.
