11:25 And although Meghan's legal team has argued that the case lacks substance and requested
11:30 that Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell to dismiss it at the federal court in Tampa, Florida,
11:37 a court filing indicates that the courtroom confrontation may still proceed.
11:42 Samantha Markle alleges that the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle degraded their relationship
11:47 during her interview with Oprah Winfrey in March of 2021.
11:52 And according to Samantha Markle, Meghan made defamatory remarks during her interview with

12:45 In regards to this case, this is what was said in the court filing.

12:53 respective undersigned counsel of record, hereby request that the court hold oral argument
12:59 in connection with defendant's pending motion to dismiss the Third Amendment complaint in
13:04 light of the extensive briefing by the parties.
13:08 Counsel estimates a total of 60 minutes for oral argument.
13:12 This complaint also targets Meghan's statements that she made on her Netflix documentary series.

35:17 In their Netflix docuseries, Prince Harry accused his family of harboring unconscious
35:22 bias and expressed fear of his brother, Prince William, describing an incident where William
35:30 allegedly screamed and shouted at him.
35:33 In early 2023, Prince Harry claimed in his book, Spare, that his brother physically assaulted
35:39 him at Nottingham Cottage within the Kensington Palace grounds.
35:49 So with all of this going on, with all of this information being revealed, the royal
35:54 correspondent Tom Quinn from Channel 5 suggested that the members of the royal family now view
36:00 Prince Harry as a loose cannon.
36:03 But the thing is, not only in the UK, but also in the United States, where Prince Harry
36:09 and Meghan Markle currently reside, the couple's public perception has taken a significant
36:15 hit, not just from people inside of the royal family, but also from the general public.
36:21 Their popularity in the US has reached an all-time low in recent months.
36:26 Prince Harry's approval rate plummeted to -10 in early 2023, while his wife Meghan experienced
36:33 an even lower rating of -17.
36:36 And this Channel 5 documentary delves into the diminishing popularity of Meghan and Harry
36:42 in the United States, and also explores their relationship with the royal family.
36:47 Tom Quinn also had this to say, "The royal family will be deeply upset by the fact that

37:33 say anything beyond statements like, 'Recollections may vary regarding these events.'"
37:40 For instance, following their interview with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021, Queen Elizabeth
37:45 II released a statement acknowledging that some recollections may vary concerning the
37:53 various allegations made by the couple.
37:55 Now also, according to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say that they have said
38:00 everything that they need to say about the royal family.
38:03 But critics of the couple say that they'll believe it when they see it.

38:38 It's pretty surprising to think about how much Meghan Markle's life has changed.
38:42 She used to live in Toronto, Canada and act in a popular TV show called Sooths.
38:55 And then she fell in love with Prince Harry and became part of the royal family.
39:00 Then their wedding was seen as a very beautiful moment, even for those watching it on TV.
39:07 They felt like they were really a part of it.
39:15 And then fast forward to January of 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry surprised the
39:20 whole world by saying that they're going to be leaving the royal family.
39:24 Prince Harry has just publicly addressed the decision by him and his wife Meghan to leave
39:29 their royal lives behind.
39:31 And this decision led Meghan's father, Thomas, as well as her half-sister, Samantha, to talk
39:38 to the media a lot more.
39:40 And Meghan's relationship with her half-sister got quite messy.
39:53 Before Meghan Markle became an actress on Sooths, she grew up in Los Angeles, California
39:58 and attended a private school.
40:01 Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland, had been supportive of her.
40:05 And Meghan made sure that her mother was a significant part of her new royal life.
40:12 But when it comes to Meghan's half-sister, well, it's a different story.
40:16 They don't seem to have a good relationship at all.
40:19 Like Samantha Markle, Meghan's half-sister has spoken about Meghan on several occasions.
40:25 And in a documentary called Thomas Markle, My Story, in it, Samantha Markle, she expressed
40:31 her disappointment in Meghan and Prince Harry leaving the royal family.
40:36 And this is what she had to say, and I quote, "With Meghan and Harry separating from the
40:41 royals, it's disappointing to me because she actually got every girl's dream.
40:47 Every young girl wanted to become a princess and she got that and now she's tossing that
40:52 away.
40:53 It looks like she's tossing that away for money."
40:56 Now when Meghan and Harry had their much-anticipated interview with Oprah in March of 2021, Meghan
41:03 shared that she had suffered from depression and she was desperately seeking help.
41:14 Samantha Markle, however, didn't have much sympathy about Meghan Markle saying that.
41:18 She actually went on to criticize Meghan for using depression as an excuse and claimed
41:23 Meghan had treated her poorly.
41:26 Samantha even wrote a book titled The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister.
41:39 And Meghan Markle had mentioned during her interview with Oprah that it had been about
41:44 20 years since they had any significant contact.
41:48 Meghan ended up disputing Samantha's claim of having a relationship.
41:52 She says that, "Nuh-uh, we didn't even have a relationship.
41:54 What's Samantha talking about?"
41:56 This is what Meghan said in her own words, "I think it would be very hard to tell all
42:00 when you don't know me."
42:02 Samantha, however, she argues that they in fact did know each other and they had college
42:08 graduation photos together as proof.
42:11 Meghan Markle believes that Samantha Markle is in fact seeking attention and she's just
42:17 trying to get famous.
42:19 Meghan shared with Oprah that Samantha started using the last name Markle and became way
42:25 more involved in the public eye after Meghan became famous through her relationship with
42:31 Prince Harry.
42:32 Meghan went on to clarify that she grew up as an only child and she last saw Samantha
42:37 about 18 or 19 or so, maybe 20 years prior, with a 10 year gap before that interaction.
42:45 And it appeared that Samantha did not like this at all because Samantha ended up suing
42:50 Meghan, alleging defamation over Meghan's statement in the Oprah interview where she
42:55 called herself an only child.
42:57 However, a Florida judge dismissed the lawsuit in early 2023.
43:03 The judge ruled that Meghan was just expressing her opinion about her childhood and her relationship
43:08 with her half-sibling.
43:10 And since that statement was a pure expression of opinion, it couldn't be proven false
43:15 in a legal sense, leading to the dismissal of the lawsuit.
43:20 So yeah, this is getting pretty nasty.
43:24 And Samantha Markle has also said that she's going to make a counterclaim to try to sue
43:29 Meghan again, who knows if it's going to go through this time.
43:33 When you look at their relationship, it's a lot of "she said, she said".
43:38 Prince William and Kate Middleton can't stand what Harry and Meghan have said about
43:42 the royal family and were prepared to take a firm stance against anything else they said
43:48 that they believed was untrue.
43:50 It was recently made public that Prince William and Kate Middleton were determined to push
43:56 the palace to issue a strong and assertive response following Prince Harry and Meghan
44:01 Markle's 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
44:05 During the interview, the couple, Harry and Meghan, made allegations that an unidentified
44:10 member of the royal family had raised concerns about the potential skin colour of their unborn
44:16 son Archie at the time.
44:18 Meghan Markle asserted that there were multiple discussions centered around the topic of Archie's
44:24 skin colour.
44:32 And then after that, following the broadcast of the interview in the United Kingdom, Prince
44:35 William and Kate Middleton held discussions with palace officials to strategize their
44:42 response to the incendiary allegations made by Harry and Meghan, as described by Valentin
44:49 Lowe in his book, Courtiers, which he released some excerpts for the Times.
44:55 And according to Lowe, the initial draft statement did not include the now famous phrase "some
45:02 recollections may vary".
45:04 And the statement was released by the late Queen Elizabeth II and read like this.
45:09 "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few
45:14 years have been for Harry and Meghan.
45:17 The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.
45:21 Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed
45:27 by the family privately.
45:28 Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members."
45:33 According to an insider that was quoted in Valentin Lowe's book, there was a milder
45:39 version of the statement under discussion.
45:42 The internal debate revolved around whether to take the high road and extend an olive
45:47 branch by referring to Harry and Meghan as much-loved members of the family, or to intervene
45:54 and express a different perspective on the matter completely.
45:58 Despite reservations about engaging in a back-and-forth with Meghan and Harry, William and Kate made
46:04 their stance very clear about this.
46:07 So the insider had told Valentin Lowe this.
46:11 They wanted it toughened up a bit.
46:13 They were both of one mind that we needed something that said that the institution did
46:20 not accept a lot of what had been said.
46:23 William had stressed that they come up with a forceful way of "making sure that we are
46:31 saying that this does not stand."
46:34 Then, according to the insider, "It was Kate who clearly made the point, history will judge
46:40 the statement, and unless this phrase or a phrase like it is included, everything that
46:48 they said will be taken as true."
46:51 And according to the source, this incident "demonstrates the remarkable strength and
46:56 resilience hidden beneath the surface of Kate Middleton."
47:00 The source also mentioned that the current Princess of Wales possesses a strategic mindset
47:07 and she's patiently pursuing her life's purpose with the acknowledgement that she
47:13 may in fact be Queen one day.
47:16 But hey, on the other hand, some supporters of Meghan and Harry are wondering if it was
47:22 actually Kate or even William who made the comments about Archie's skin colour, hence
47:27 their firm stance on it and them wanting to make the statement so strong and bold to just
47:34 completely shut it down.
47:36 If it wasn't for the Queen Elizabeth signing off on changing the statement, we definitely
47:42 would have seen a much different statement released by the palace and yeah, things probably
47:48 would have went completely different.
47:54 Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, wants to meet his grandchildren before it's too
47:59 late.
48:00 And he absolutely can't stand that Meghan Markle is stopping him from seeing his grandchildren.
48:06 Despite being caught taking fake photos for money before Meghan and Prince Harry's wedding
48:14 and repeatedly criticising the couple on TV, Thomas says that he has done nothing wrong.
48:26 Now in an interview on Good Morning Britain, this is what Thomas had to say.
48:38 In California, I can actually sue to see Archie and Lillibet but I don't want to do that.
48:48 There's nothing that points to say I'm a bad guy.
48:52 Thomas also stressed that he is very loving as a father and Meghan in fact knows this
49:00 and he firmly believes that there is no good reason for the way he's being treated by
49:04 Meghan.
49:11 Thomas who divorced Meghan Markle's mom, Doria Ragland, back in 1987 after 7 years of
49:17 marriage, mentioned that he observed Meghan change completely as she got older.
49:23 He went on to say this in reference to the current drama between them now.
49:35 I never saw the kind of woman she turned into.
49:38 I'm shocked.
49:44 And then from there, Thomas added these comments.
49:48 I think she has an influence on Harry more than he does on her.
49:52 I'm always here for her.
49:53 I still love her.
49:55 I'll love her forever.
49:56 That will never change.
49:57 But I want her to reach out to me and let me see my grandkids.
50:03 Then interestingly, Thomas Markle compared his situation with Meghan to King Charles
50:08 and his situation with Harry.
50:12 King Charles has done nothing wrong too and he has denied the kids as well as I am.
50:18 Thomas Markle also back in 2022, he had a stroke and it was a very scary time and he
50:23 hasn't seen Meghan Markle in 5 years.
50:27 He wasn't there at the royal wedding, also because of this whole scandal with stage photos,
50:32 and on top of that, he leaked a private letter from Meghan to the press.
50:37 And Meghan is also not on good terms with her half sister, Samantha Markle, who took
50:43 legal action against her for defamation in 2022.
50:59 And when it comes to that Oprah interview that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did back
51:03 in 2021, Meghan referred to her father's involvement with the paparazzi as an "unforgivable
51:10 betrayal."
51:11 At that time, Meghan also had this to say
51:14 I look at Archie.
51:15 I think about this child and I genuinely can't imagine doing anything to intentionally cause
51:20 pain to my child.
51:22 I can't imagine it.
51:23 It's so hard for me to reconcile that.
51:32 Thomas Markle also had said that he tried to fix their broken relationship multiple
51:37 times in the past, but nothing worked.
51:41 And he also mentioned sending Meghan Markle flowers for her birthday back in 2021, but
51:46 he didn't receive any response at all.
51:49 And this is such a tricky situation because here you have a father, Meghan Markle's dad,
51:56 also a grandfather, and he's getting older and getting more sick as the days go by.
52:02 And he's not able to see his grandchildren.
52:04 Then again, on Meghan's side, it's like you sold her out pretty much like Meghan, your
52:10 own daughter, Thomas, like you sold her out to the tabloids and have said a lot of things
52:16 about her publicly.
52:18 And you're going to find fault with her for not allowing you to see her grandchildren
52:22 and not getting involved in her life?
52:26 I don't know, it seems a little hypocritical.
