The UK's first case of a certain type of swine flu in a person has been detected. H1N2 is a strain of swine flu that has been detected in fifty people globally since two thousand and five. Here's everything we know about the story so far.

It has been confirmed that the first case of the swine flu H1N2 in a person has been detected in the UK. The strain seen previously, in two thousand and nine, was the H1N1 strain.

The person who was infected experienced a mild illness, but did make a full recovery. However, how they became infected is still a mystery, as they'd had no contact with pigs, which is usually how the virus initially transmits to humans. Symptoms of swine flu can include fever, tiredness, a cough and a sore throat

As of yet there is no cause for alarm, but the advice around what to do if you are experiencing respiratory symptoms is being reiterated, which is to avoid contact with other people where possible while symptoms persist, particularly those in the more vulnerable groups such as the elderly and those we pre-existing medical conditions.
