A proud daughter immediately burst into tears and told her hard-working dad she was proud of him when he surprised her with news he had bought their first home. Modest Victor Rodriguez, 42, from New Jersey, sees working as a deli department manager from 6am until around 8-10pm as simply providing for his family – but his wife of 24 years Rosetta, and their daughter Brielle, 11, always recognized how hard he had been grinding for them. Before the pandemic, Victor – who goes by Vic – had been looking for his family's first home, but the "overwhelming" process and a lack of funds meant he decided to stop the search and keep saving. Fast forward to December 2022, and Vic's landlord informed him and Rosetta their rental property would soon be sold, which kickstarted their search again. Brielle was present on the new home visits with her father, who had one motto: if she liked the house, he liked house. But when Brielle came across a home she "loved," Vic said she immediately told him, 'I know how much you're trying,’ which made him put in a bid. Unfortunately, Vic lost out. A few months later – along with a few more house visits – and Rosetta's cousin, who has a real estate license and had been helping the family, informed them Brielle's dream home was back on the market. Vic and Rosetta put in another bid, this time winning the home – which left them to plan how they would surprise their daughter with the news.

00:00 Dad Vic works long hours as a deli department manager.
00:08 The days that we're short handed at work or things are not going right, it's like, you
00:12 know, I know it's hard right now but it's, there's a purpose and it's worth it.
00:18 That purpose for Vic is providing for his family, his wife of 24 years Rose and their
00:24 11 year old daughter Brielle and this year he wanted to find them a new home.
00:30 Kind of a simple guy, as long as I have somewhere to sleep and watch TV or whatever and go back
00:36 to work I'm okay but it was very very important for me to give my daughter a home, a place
00:41 that she could go home, a place she could say she grew up in.
00:43 Dad, there was houses that were nice and there was houses that weren't the best but they
00:50 liked it, they were fine with it because they tried their hardest for it.
00:54 And Vic did try his hardest to bid for their dream home, except they lost the bid.
01:00 But then the deal fell through and they were able to buy it after all.
01:05 So to surprise Brielle, they pretended to go see that home one last time before the
01:11 new owners moved in.
01:14 Sorry.
01:15 It's okay.
01:16 Um, they're actually here.
01:17 They're here.
01:18 Yeah.

01:32 All right, Brielle, well actually you're the owners.
01:37 No we're not.
01:38 Yeah, we're the owners.
01:39 You're the owners.
01:40 No we're not.
01:41 I got it.
01:42 You got it?
01:43 I did.
01:44 You got it?
01:45 I got it.
01:46 You got it?
01:47 I got it, baby.
01:48 I'm so sorry.
01:49 I'm so sorry.
01:50 I'm so proud of you, bud.
01:52 Don't make me cry.
01:53 I'm happy.
01:54 We did it.
01:55 We did it.
01:56 We did it.
01:57 Here, go open the door.
01:58 Go open your door.
01:59 Go.
02:00 Go do it.
02:01 He worked hard for us and he did all this for us and I know like that I felt like I
02:14 wasn't helping him and he was like carrying everything we were doing.
02:18 So I was like extremely proud that he did all this for us.
02:23 There it is.
02:25 We got to take a picture with the phone.
02:35 I felt like really thankful because I know like he did all this for us.
02:44 Like it's good that other people see how well he's working too.
02:48 Mom Rose agrees.
02:50 It makes me feel amazing and emotional.
02:55 I'm excited.
02:58 Are you excited?
03:02 Yeah.
03:04 I see people saying that like I hope I get that someday and I think you just you keep
03:08 trying you know just go do your best you know some days you know today's best may not be
03:13 as good as yesterday's best but you just it doesn't matter just keep doing your best and
03:18 then you know and then things will fall into place and you'll get this moment that I'll
03:24 remember forever.
03:27 The day I die.
