00:00 Could you tell me where you think the best place is in Sheffield for sledging?
00:03 I would probably say for my youth the best place is the field behind the old Myers Grove
00:07 school in Staddington.
00:08 What's the best thing about those?
00:10 It was quite steep, there was like three humps and the last one was quite a steep one so
00:15 I spent many snowy afternoons when I was in school playing down them.
00:19 Yeah I think the best place in Sheffield would be the Ball Hills, that's where my mum and
00:25 dad always used to take us when we were kids and it's now where I take my children.
00:29 What's the best thing about the Ball Hills for sledging?
00:32 Well it's the big steep hills, the views that you get over Sheffield and Staddington.
00:38 If I was going to go sledging I'd probably go out to the Peak District towards the end
00:42 of Ecclesall Road, there's lots of open hills, open spaces, no issues really going to get
00:47 into there.
00:48 I personally think up at Loxley where the commons are and stuff like that, there's a
00:53 lot of high ground up there, a lot of terrain that you can go down.
00:57 I think you might have to put some padding on to make sure if you fall off but I think
01:02 it's a good place to go.
01:04 Could you tell me please what you think the best place is in Sheffield for sledging?
01:08 Longview Park.
01:10 Yeah I agree, Longview Park.
01:13 And what's the best thing about Longview Park for sledging?
01:17 Well there's quite a few hills, so that's good, we took our grandchildren sledging there.
01:23 I've been sledging there for 30 odd years, I loved it.
01:31 Tell me where you think the best place is for sledging in Sheffield?
01:34 My favourite place is the golf course up at Lodgmore.
01:37 What's good about that one?
01:39 It's not too steep but steep enough for the kids and everything so yeah we have a really
01:43 good time up there.
01:44 And is it well away from that for anyone actually playing golf though when it snows?
01:47 Oh yeah there's no golf when we're playing.
01:51 Snowy hills.
01:52 Which ones?
01:53 Snowy, well I live on Botton Hill and that's quite steep, Carton Hole Road's quite steep
01:59 but Dromfield was best in the 50s.
02:02 What was there?
02:03 What's good about Dromfield?
02:04 You started off at the golf club, went through the field, down Hallows Rise and ended up
02:09 in the car park of the Mason's Arms pub.
02:12 Where do you think the best place is in Sheffield for sledging?
02:17 Probably Maysburg Park, it's a big hill, there's a little jump that you can go over
02:21 as well.
02:22 Hundreds of people there every time it snows so yeah Maysburg Park.
