00:02 If you are a Catholic woman
00:07 and you've been looking for an idea
00:09 of a book to read for Advent,
00:11 I have a great suggestion, "The Read of God."
00:13 This book was originally published in the 40s
00:16 and each chapter is a meditation
00:17 that just explores Mary's humanity,
00:19 which I feel like is honestly something
00:22 that a lot of people struggle with.
00:23 We all know that Mary is the mother of God.
00:26 Because of that, sometimes it's hard
00:27 for regular women to connect to her.
00:30 In the second chapter entitled "Fiat,"
00:32 there's this beautiful quote
00:33 that has just really stuck with me.
00:36 The author says, "But certainly at first,
00:39 "there was nothing to suggest
00:40 "that being the mother of God would involve her
00:42 "in anything more heroic than the joys
00:45 "and sorrows of her domestic life.
00:48 "The sorrows of the whole world,
00:50 "not only the dramatic ones, but the daily ones,
00:52 "began to unfold gradually in her life
00:55 "and the intelligent heart can read into them
00:57 "not only the broad outline of all the world's tragedies,
01:01 "but also the smallest details of human existence."
01:05 This book just does such a beautiful job
01:07 of really showing Mary's human side.
01:10 You could even use this in a book club or a women's group.
01:13 There's just so many ways this book
01:14 could benefit you during Advent.
