00:00 In a disturbing turn of events, multiple schools in Bengaluru found themselves at the centre
00:05 of a security crisis on Friday as they received bomb threats via email.
00:11 According to a senior police official, authorities were prompted to take swift action, leading
00:16 to the evacuation of students for thorough checks by the anti-sabotage and bomb squads
00:21 of the city police.
00:23 The incident bears a chilling resemblance to a series of threats witnessed in 2022.
00:29 Police sources reveal that the threatening emails were sent to schools such as Neve,
00:33 Clay and Vidya Shilp, among others.
00:36 The messages, which were sent from various addresses with their IP origins masked, forced
00:41 as many as 15 schools to implement emergency protocols, affecting over 5,000 students.
00:48 The gravity of the situation is underscored by a message from Neve School to parents.
00:54 As per reports, the message read, "We are encountering an unexpected situation at school
00:58 today.
00:59 The school has received a security threat from unknown sources.
01:03 As we hold the safety of our children at the utmost priority, we have decided to disperse
01:08 the students immediately."
01:10 It was further revealed that the emails closely resembled threats received on April 8, 2022,
01:16 when 16 schools in Bengaluru were targeted.
01:19 The ominous message warned of a powerful bomb planted in the schools, urging immediate action.
01:25 The 2022 incident led to a thorough investigation, resulting in cyber-terrorism charges against
01:30 a minor from Tamil Nadu.
01:32 The minor had created a program to mask IP addresses, which was used to send the threat
01:37 emails.
01:38 The police commenting on the previous investigation stated that they were able to track from where
01:42 the code was generated and it showed the involvement of a minor from Tamil Nadu.
01:46 But the police said that who used it to send the threat emails to schools and institutions
01:51 is yet to be ascertained.
01:53 As the current situation unfolds, authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the safety
01:57 of students and investigate the source of these latest threats.
02:01 Parents and the community are advised to stay vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement
02:06 agencies as they navigate through this alarming development.
