The point guard has adopted a bold personal style over the years, including torn-up shirts and gender-fluid dressing.

00:00 What's up, Vogue?
00:00 Russell Westbrook here,
00:01 and today we are talking about the life and looks
00:05 of the one and only myself.
00:07 Hope you guys are going to enjoy them.
00:09 I'm grateful for the experience, and let's do it.
00:12 [upbeat music]
00:15 Mm, draft night.
00:19 Hey, seems so long ago.
00:20 2008.
00:21 Colors were inspired by UCLA.
00:23 It was a suit made by Alba.
00:25 She did custom suits,
00:27 and this is actually my first ever custom suit I ever had.
00:31 So I was super excited about just getting tailored.
00:34 The whole process, never done it before growing up,
00:36 so I was super grateful for that.
00:38 That day, I was very, very nervous.
00:40 This was draft day.
00:41 You know, I'm lucky enough now to still be playing in the NBA,
00:44 but this is a day that changed my life,
00:47 not just my life, but my family's.
00:49 I would say I was very nervous
00:50 and happy and excited all at the same time.
00:55 Okay, opening ceremonies.
00:57 I remember getting fitted for this,
00:58 and I was super hyped because I love double-breasted suits,
01:01 and being able to wear a Polo Ralph Lauren is always great.
01:05 I'm a first, actually, that was my second gold medal,
01:07 being able to represent your country
01:08 and also be stylish while doing so.
01:10 You also see Candice Parker here.
01:12 The vibe during the opening ceremonies are pretty amazing.
01:15 You have an opportunity to be able to see
01:16 what other countries were wearing,
01:18 and also you get a chance to be able to meet other athletes.
01:21 So the Olympic experience overall is truly amazing,
01:23 and I was grateful to be able to be a part of it.
01:26 Okay, yeah, wedding day.
01:30 One of the most amazing days in my life.
01:33 My wife here, as you guys can probably see,
01:36 she looks 20 times better than me.
01:37 She's wearing Vera Wang, and I had on Tom Ford.
01:41 I wanted a tail, like a long coat tail.
01:43 I just love that look.
01:44 I wanted to keep it clean, classic, but also be fresh.
01:48 Seen this picture in a while.
01:51 Another great, great moment.
01:53 This tonight, I won the Most Valuable Player Award,
01:56 16, 17 season in the NBA.
01:58 Another night where I was super nervous,
02:00 but excited at the same time.
02:02 Funny story about this day is when I got my suit
02:05 in the morning, I hadn't tried it on before,
02:07 and this is why all my pictures were no jacket,
02:09 because when I put my jacket on,
02:11 it didn't fit me, it was super tight, it was super snug.
02:13 So I was like, you know what,
02:15 I'm gonna just go without a jacket,
02:17 and you know, I still look clean,
02:18 and I was happy about that.
02:19 But to this day, I remember this moment,
02:22 and remember everything about the day, the morning,
02:25 just because it was such a crazy year,
02:28 not just for me, but for my family, my friends,
02:31 to be able to accomplish this goal.
02:34 I did get a special thank you video.
02:36 Big Taylor Swift fan, and she was gracious enough
02:39 to share a video and congratulate me on my award.
02:42 I've definitely been to multiple Taylor Swift shows,
02:45 tours, whatever.
02:48 I love her music, I'm a fan, so.
02:50 I did this photo shoot for Christmas.
02:55 I'm wearing my own brand, which is called Honor the Gift.
02:58 I've always been connected in fashion,
03:00 always wanted to have an opportunity
03:01 to be able to have my own brand,
03:03 but have my own brand that's meaningful,
03:06 that's impactful, and that's inspiring.
03:08 That's the reason why the name of the brand
03:10 is called Honor the Gift, 'cause I honestly
03:12 and truly believe that everyone in the world has a gift,
03:15 and we all should honor whatever that is.
03:17 Going to shows as a designer is different.
03:19 I would say it's almost like basketball to me.
03:21 It's very competitive, I'm a very competitive person,
03:23 and I wanna make sure that I'm putting out product
03:25 that people can relate to, that's affordable,
03:27 and also that they connect with,
03:29 and it's a great, fun process, and I really enjoy it.
03:33 [laughs]
03:36 This was a day where I was just going with whatever,
03:40 but I wanted to be comfortable and cozy.
03:42 I had this sweater that was half cut up,
03:44 so I decided to just cut up more,
03:46 and then accidentally cut the middle too much,
03:48 and I just went with it, and here we are.
03:52 You know, fashion to me is like,
03:53 it's another way you can express yourself,
03:56 and I am very emotional, and scream,
03:59 and all these things on the court,
04:00 but off the floor, I'm just really chill,
04:02 and kinda laid back, and through fashion,
04:04 I'm able to express myself, and definitely a tool
04:07 to be a harness your own confidence.
04:08 I have this motto I use, it's why not,
04:11 and it's something that been with me since day one,
04:14 and always try to use it to instill confidence,
04:17 not just in myself, but other people,
04:18 and yes, there are gonna be good reviews, bad reviews,
04:21 but it doesn't really matter,
04:22 as long as I feel good about it,
04:24 and I hope that it inspires people to wear,
04:27 and be outgoing, and outspoken, whatever that is,
04:31 and be confident in doing it.
04:33 Yeesh.
04:35 Paris Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton, great look.
04:38 I think overall Virgil, he opened the floodgates
04:42 in fashion for many different reasons,
04:44 but being African-American in the world today,
04:46 being able to break barriers in fashion,
04:48 do different things that he was able to do,
04:50 inspired me on many, many different levels,
04:52 not just in fashion, but just in life,
04:54 and I was lucky enough to be at shows that he designed,
04:57 and I was able to cherish those moments.
04:59 Hoo.
05:01 Here we go.
05:04 The Met, the Met, the place to be.
05:07 I wore Ralph Lauren, blue's my favorite color,
05:10 and at this time, I already had dyed my hair
05:13 previously coming to Met,
05:14 and I actually got some advice on kinda like,
05:18 I was kinda going through looks,
05:19 and I was like, you know, "Oh, should I dye my hair?"
05:22 I went with it to match with my suit,
05:23 and the diamonds, and the overall look.
05:26 Took a while, the dyeing, and the whole nine.
05:28 I'm normally pretty easy, and kinda moving around,
05:31 and kinda can, you know, easy going,
05:33 but the Met is like, turn right, turn left.
05:36 Pictures here, then you have the steps,
05:38 and you stop in, and there's interviews.
05:39 You almost wanna run up the steps,
05:41 and then hurry up and get inside,
05:42 but you take so much time into your look,
05:44 and you want people to see it,
05:45 and you want people to make sure that they understand.
05:48 Met, once again, this time, Tom Brown,
05:54 and this was a look from start to finish
05:56 that was designed particularly for this Met, and for me.
06:00 And as we know, Tom is the best in the world
06:03 at making kilts, and long skirts,
06:05 and it's something that I'm very comfortable wearing.
06:08 My first one was, I think,
06:09 Jerry Lorenzo had one with Fear God,
06:11 and I wore it over some jeans one time,
06:13 and Tom has, you know, been gracious enough
06:16 to give me some things, and put me in 'em,
06:18 and it works for me, so I'm able to kinda style it
06:21 the way I want, and be comfortable in doing it.
06:23 The second Met Gala was totally different from the first.
06:25 I knew what to expect, number one,
06:28 and then number two, I was able to kinda move,
06:30 and kinda know how to move around the Met,
06:33 and it's such a great experience overall,
06:35 being able to walk through the museum,
06:36 and understand the why you're there,
06:37 and being able to just be invited.
06:39 Even years prior to, I always be like,
06:41 "Man, I wish I could go to the Met,
06:42 "watching the looks, watching the red carpet."
06:44 I'm like, "Man, that looks."
06:45 Though, maybe one day I'll be able to get there,
06:47 and to be able to be there.
06:48 It's a surreal moment for me overall,
06:50 so I'm always grateful to be there.
06:52 Oh, the last look!
06:55 This was another iconic moment.
06:58 Men's Fashion Week in Paris,
07:00 Louis Vuitton, first for real,
07:03 William's show, the look came together,
07:05 really just how I was feeling.
07:07 I was there, and working a lot,
07:09 but I was gracious enough to be invited to the show,
07:13 and be there to witness another moment
07:16 in fashion, and in culture.
07:18 Overall, Aesthetica Collection to me was great.
07:21 The music was amazing, the way that the show was ran,
07:24 and where it was at, the location,
07:26 and I was happy to be able to be there to experience it.
07:29 What's next for me?
07:30 I'll keep serving some tunnel looks,
07:33 and looking forward to some great things there.
07:36 [upbeat music]
07:39 That's all.
07:42 Thank you guys for the opportunity.
07:45 All the fans out there, thank you for your support.
07:47 Continue to be inspired, be confident in all your looks,
07:50 and we out.
