00:00 As we are celebrating towards the end of the year with festivity, why don't we make the
00:05 whole year and month a little bit light-hearted and let's talk about various bodily piercings.
00:12 Today we're focusing on piercings in the nipples and whether it has complications and whether
00:19 it will be beneficial for sexual stimulation.

00:28 Let's start with the history.
00:30 In fact, piercing in the nipple has been dated back many, many, many years.
00:35 In some African nations it was noted and also in South American natives it actually has
00:43 been dated many, many centuries.
00:46 But it's documented in the Bavarian time in 1500s and also later on in about Victorian
00:53 era, that actually becomes more prominent, actually has some indications that it might
01:00 be used for erotism.
01:03 And it's in the recent years, in fact most people use it for more like fashion statement
01:09 or also a statement by itself.
01:12 For example, famous people who had it will be someone like Lenny Kravitz or someone like
01:18 Janet Jackson who famously had that reveal of nipple gate problems with Justin Timberlake.
01:27 In reality, nipple piercing is something that's quite common.
01:31 Essentially, it's just like any part of the bodily piercing, it can be done vertically
01:36 or commonly horizontally.
01:39 There are some small studies to show that that itself enhances the sexual erotism or
01:46 the stimulation, especially in women.
01:49 However, the studies is very, very small and in fact there are some complications that
01:55 actually show the otherwise.
01:58 For example, if the piercing itself is done not professionally, it might cause some infection,
02:04 that infection may result in scarring and that scarring may dampen the sensations.
02:10 Some people even ask about after piercing, will somebody be able to lactate, which is
02:16 a primary function of the breast?
02:19 Yes is the answer.
02:21 However, the lactation itself may be a little bit leaking or in different direction, might
02:28 not be so easy for a poor baby who is doing the sucking and also it is advisable to remove
02:34 the actual piercing itself before mother start doing breastfeeding.
02:40 In reality, just like any part of the bodily piercing, there's a small risk of infections.
02:46 So in order to avoid that infection, obviously to do this in sterile technique and hopefully
02:53 if you change your mind after the removal, the skin itself might heal.
02:58 However, sometimes it doesn't heal and some people are left with a condition which is
03:03 not so sightly and regret doing it in the first place.
