00:07 when celebrities flaunted their wealth, privilege or connections and faced backlash for it.
00:16 10.
00:19 Not Human Parenting - Justin Timberlake
00:28 Parenting isn't always easy, and it got even more challenging during lockdown.
00:32 Most people can understand that.
00:34 However, Justin Timberlake did himself no favours with his comments.
00:39 Interviewed on SiriusXM's Hits 1, the singer was asked how he was coping with parenting
00:44 alongside his wife, Jessica Biel, during the ordeal.
00:48 Timberlake replied, "24-hour parenting is just not human."
00:58 Well, human or not, most parents are parents 24/7.
01:03 Social media erupted, calling the artist tone-deaf and making known just how much the average
01:08 person has to juggle on top of raising youngsters without the finances Timberlake and Biel
01:13 have.
01:18 9.
01:22 Not the Porsche - Gordon Ramsay So-called "financial experts" often tell
01:28 younger folk that to afford to own a property, they need to cut out buying Starbucks and
01:34 other small luxuries.
01:35 Apparently, there's a simpler way.
01:38 In 2023, Gordon Ramsay was interviewed on the podcast High Performance.
01:43 He detailed the time he needed an additional £20,000 for a deposit on a flat and turned
01:49 to his father-in-law, Chris Hutchinson, for the loan, which he promised he'd pay back
01:54 in a year.
02:05 Hutchinson advised Ramsay to sell his Porsche 911 first.
02:10 Somehow, this was a lightbulb moment for the chef at the time, and he did just that.
02:21 Viewers however, immediately mocked how unrelatable Ramsay's struggle was.
02:26 After selling the luxury car, fear not, Ramsay bought it back a decade later.
02:36 8.
02:38 Scary Bash - Rita Ora When the lockdown was in effect in 2020, many
02:44 were scared, but still followed the rules to keep others safe.
02:48 So when Rita Ora broke the guidelines, folks were mad.
02:53 After returning to London from a private gig in Egypt, the singer was supposed to quarantine
02:57 for two weeks.
02:59 Instead, the following day, Ora bribed a restaurant £5,000 to host her 30th birthday.
03:08 At the time, there was a ban on different households mixing indoors.
03:16 Ora's team allegedly also requested the facility turn off the CCTV.
03:29 Ora was labelled selfish for her actions, and for throwing money to get what she wanted.
03:35 The singer apologised for her actions and was fined £10,000 for her shindig.
03:49 7.
03:51 Climate Criminal - Kylie Jenner Some fans even called out the couple for
03:55 posting about their extravagant lifestyle when global warming is rising and the cost
04:00 of living continues to go up across the US.
04:03 The battle against climate change is something many of us care about.
04:07 People have adapted their everyday routines in an effort to reduce carbon emissions and
04:12 generally help the environment.
04:14 But then there's Kylie Jenner.
04:16 In 2022, she uploaded an image of her and Travis Scott embracing between two planes
04:22 with the caption "You wanna take mine or yours?"
04:25 The public deemed her a climate criminal, not only for using a private jet for short
04:31 trips but also for seemingly gloating about it.
04:41 Speaking of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, during the pandemic, there was a toilet paper shortage
04:46 as people panicked and hoarded it.
04:49 Well, Khloe Kardashian decided to TP her sister Kourtney's property as a joke, which frustrated
04:56 people who were struggling to find the stuff in the first place.
05:08 6.
05:10 Imagine - Gal Gadot And many, many others.
05:23 On occasion, celebrities like to spread awareness about catastrophes or write encouraging messages
05:28 on socials.
05:29 When done right, it's often appreciated.
05:32 And when it's not, well, it's not.
05:34 In 2020, Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig led a project with the intention of boosting morale
05:40 during the pandemic by releasing a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine," sung by various
05:45 celebs.
05:46 Instead of lifting the world, though, it made many people angry.
05:51 "No possessions" from people with a lot of possessions is maybe a little hypocritical.
05:58 The video was called "cringe" and out of touch by people all over social media.
06:15 Others criticized the celebrities for taking the time to make the video instead of donating
06:20 to useful causes.
06:25 5.
06:28 Monkey Business - Justin Bieber After arriving in Germany during his 2013
06:33 tour, Justin Bieber's pet Capuchin monkey, O.G.
06:36 Mally, was seized by officials.
06:51 This came as a result of the singer not being able to provide correct paperwork for Mally
06:56 and even after being given a deadline to submit the paperwork, Bieber failed to do so.
07:01 It was said that he no longer wanted Mally, so he was rehomed.
07:13 People including animal experts were livid at Bieber for treating Mally like an accessory.
07:29 This of course isn't the only time he has felt the public's wrath.
07:32 On Instagram Live in 2020, Bieber and his wife Hailey spoke to Kendall Jenner, with
07:38 Bieber trying for some empathy for those struggling during the pandemic, but largely failing.
07:45 4.
07:46 Million Dollar Acceptance - Dr. Dre Sometimes, celebrities try to hide their
07:52 nepotism.
07:53 However, in the modern day, doing so will quickly get you called out.
07:58 During 2019, Dr. Dre put on social media that his daughter, Truly Young, had been accepted
08:04 into the University of Southern California.
08:06 He took a jab at people like Felicity Huffman for her bribery scandal, stating that Young
08:12 did it all herself.
08:20 But Dre fails to mention that in 2013, he and Jimmy Iovine gave USC $70 million to build
08:28 the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation.
08:46 The backlash got so bad that Dre deleted the post on Instagram.
09:01 3.
09:03 Working Class Luxury - Victoria Beckham It's not often the spouse of a famous face
09:09 would be the first to call out their entitlement.
09:18 But that's exactly what happened in the 2023 documentary series, Beckham.
09:23 At one point, Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham is chatting about growing up working class.
09:29 Well, David wasn't having that.
09:32 Popping his head into the room, he pressed his wife to be honest and asked what kind
09:37 of car her father drove during her childhood.
09:40 Eventually, after trying to skirt around the demand, Victoria stated it was a Rolls Royce.
09:59 With that, the former footballer's work was done.
10:02 While David was praised online, some were still livid at Victoria for trying to alter
10:07 her image by rewriting her history.
10:13 2.
10:19 Superyacht Isolation - David Geffen The pandemic seemingly was an event that
10:25 brought the entitlement of some celebrities to the forefront.
10:29 In 2020, with lockdown in effect in many nations, billionaire music and film producer David
10:34 Geffen decided to rub his wealth in people's faces.
10:45 In a tone-deaf post on Instagram, alongside a sunset photo of his expensive superyacht,
10:50 Geffen stated he was isolating on the boat in the Grenadines in the Caribbean.
10:59 The downside?
11:00 The New York Times reports the fuel from Geffen's boat releases more than 16,000 tons of emissions
11:05 every year.
11:06 He finished the caption by mentioning he hoped that everyone else was safe.
11:11 Instead, people were furious for his boast and called on Geffen to donate supplies to
11:16 medical centers.
11:18 The backlash was so bad that the billionaire turned his Instagram private.
11:22 And at the time of writing, it remains that way.
11:33 1.
11:50 Karen Corden - James Corden There's a well-known expression that you
12:00 can find out who a person is by how they treat those who serve them.
12:04 Well, in 2022, news came out that actor and TV host James Corden was banned from the New
12:10 York restaurant Balthazar after allegedly yelling at staff over an omelette his wife
12:16 had ordered.
12:21 In another incident, he reportedly demanded his table's drinks be comped after finding
12:26 a hair in his food.
12:28 This sounds reasonable until you hear that, apparently, he finished the food that had
12:34 the hair in it.
12:35 After the dirty laundry was aired publicly, Corden called the incident so silly and maintains
12:41 that he did nothing wrong.
12:43 Regardless, social media was filled with accounts trashing Corden's Karen behavior of belittling
12:49 staff.
13:03 Changing gears, who do you think is the humblest celebrity around?
