00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at the most irritating enemies that
00:09 Link has ever come across.
00:11 However, we're prioritizing regular enemies over bosses.
00:15 To be clear, we're not saying these are the hardest or strongest enemies, but they're
00:19 annoying enough to make us wish we could reach through the screen and give them a slap.
00:29 Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:34 the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:38 Mini Blins Mini Blins are a perfect example of enemies
00:47 that are easily swatted away, but we're still glad they only appeared in a few games.
00:53 Found in Wind Waker and its handheld sequels, these miniature bokoblins always travel in
00:58 packs, seeking to skewer Link with their pitchforks.
01:01 What makes them annoying in Wind Waker is that they continuously spawn within their
01:05 given areas, no matter how many of them you kill.
01:08 And in all appearances, they sound like a bunch of demons that inhaled way too much
01:12 helium.
01:13 You won't have any problem putting them down, but you also won't have much fun.
01:23 Octoroks Any enemy that shoots you from afar and hides
01:30 when you get close is definitely going to be irksome.
01:32 Octoroks have been in the series since the beginning, where all they could do was hurl
01:36 up rocks.
01:37 Nintendo has made them more annoying over the years, like giving them the ability to
01:41 duck underwater when Link approaches them.
01:43 However, by far the most irritating iteration of these octopus knockoffs is the latest one.
01:50 In Breath of the Wild, their stealth is actually pretty great, hiding underneath rocks, shrubs,
01:55 and treasure chests attached to their heads.
01:57 They also frequently appear alongside other enemies, sniping Link with incredible accuracy
02:02 while he's got his hands full.
02:09 Daira Even though it's only found in one game,
02:15 the Daira deserve a bit of hate.
02:17 These alligator-headed brutes only show up in Zelda II, widely regarded as the hardest
02:21 entry in the series.
02:23 The orange variety constantly swings an axe that goes through Link's shield unless he
02:27 uses magic to cast the reflect spell.
02:30 The red version uses an endless stream of axe projectiles, trying to beat you into submission
02:35 before you can even get close.
02:37 These probably wouldn't be so bad if not for Zelda II's high difficulty.
02:42 But because they take magic to defend against, even with a shield, and they have annoyingly
02:46 strong attacks, we're grateful they've stayed in the past.
02:57 Bubbles The annoyance of some enemies depends on the
03:05 Zelda you're playing.
03:06 If you come across these flaming, flying skulls in a 3D entry, they won't be too bad.
03:12 You should have plenty of space to avoid them, and they're easily stopped with a projectile.
03:16 However, they're much more troublesome in 2D entries.
03:20 In most of those appearances, they curse Link so he can't use his sword for a few seconds.
03:25 Those in Zelda II siphon Link's magic on contact, while those in the Oracle games deal damage,
03:31 curse you, and can't be killed.
03:33 In the first game's second quest, the curse of the red bubbles doesn't have a time limit,
03:38 and can instead only be gotten rid of by touching a blue one, healing, or picking up a triforce
03:43 shard.
03:51 Like-Likes The Like-Likes have stayed more consistent
03:59 than Bubbles, but that just makes for a more regularly annoying foe.
04:03 Ever since the first game, Like-Likes have been trying to suck Link up, stealing shields,
04:08 tunics, and, more recently, his hard-earned rupees.
04:12 And every time, we mash our buttons like crazy to break free.
04:16 If something is stolen and you don't kill the Like-Like quickly enough, those items
04:20 can be lost, forcing you to head to a shop and buy a new one.
04:24 While it is unlikely that will happen, given that Like-Likes aren't too hard to kill,
04:28 it's still a nuisance to deal with.
04:31 Tears of the Kingdom gave them elemental properties, yet we were in far less danger of getting
04:36 eaten.
04:42 Dead Rocks These speedy little annoyances only appear
04:52 in a handful of 2D installments, and only in very specific locations.
04:57 That doesn't change the fact that they irritate us in every single game they're in.
05:01 First appearing in A Link to the Past, Dead Rocks move incredibly fast, and can easily
05:05 ram into Link.
05:07 Hitting them with your sword will only turn them to stone for a few moments.
05:11 The only way to kill them is to use magic powder to turn them into a slime.
05:15 They're easier to handle in later entries since you get other methods of killing them,
05:20 but all in all, it's best to just avoid them.
05:29 Wizrobes Another enemy that's been with the series
05:39 since the beginning is the Wizrobe.
05:41 These magic wielders love hurling spells towards Link, vanishing, and reappearing elsewhere
05:46 to cast another.
05:48 In the 3D games, they aren't too terrible, despite appearing as mini-bosses in Majora's
05:52 Mask and Wind Waker.
05:54 However, once again, their true ability to bother is highlighted in the 2D releases.
05:59 The frequency in which they teleport is supremely fast most of the time, which undeniably keeps
06:04 you on your toes.
06:05 The original game probably sees them at their peak annoyance, if only for the fact that
06:10 they usually appear in groups.
06:12 Certain rooms in the final dungeon are a nightmare because of them.
06:20 Technoblins Skyward Sword took the Bokoblins, one of
06:29 the most basic enemies in Zelda, and gave them a defensive boost due to the motion-centric
06:34 mechanics.
06:35 The enemy's AI is actually quite good at blocking Link's blows, which forced players
06:39 to think before they swung.
06:41 Unfortunately, it also resulted in the most infuriating variant of the monster, the Technoblin.
06:47 Found throughout the Lanayru Desert, these guys wield electric batons.
06:51 And because the game focuses so heavily on this type of swordplay, swinging at the wrong
06:56 time will get you blocked and shocked, damaging and stunning Link for further attacks.
07:01 This only needed to happen a few times before we were ready to rage.
07:08 Fakas Just like the Daira, the Fakas are only found
07:21 in Zelda 2, but they are honestly far more maddening to contend with.
07:26 Similar to that game's Iron Knuckles, Fakas can block both high and low attacks.
07:31 But they can also fire beams from their swords and jump, meaning that Link's downward thrust
07:37 attack isn't nearly as viable.
07:39 As if all that wasn't bad enough, which trust us, it is, they also have high damage
07:44 output and a ton of health since they only appear in the final dungeon.
07:48 Fakas are adept at overwhelming you with a barrage of attacks.
07:52 It's enemies like these that have given Zelda 2 its long-lasting fame as a brutal game.
07:59 Wallmasters and Floormasters Ask any player.
08:09 One of the most disheartening things in gaming is losing your progress.
08:13 So when an enemy can teleport you back to the start of an area, or even a full dungeon,
08:18 it's understandably going to garner a lot of hate.
08:21 Whether they're called Wallmasters or Floormasters, these giant hands lurk in the shadows and
08:26 will snatch Link up at the first opportunity.
08:29 In most cases, despite their creepiness, they aren't even that hard to kill.
08:33 But all it takes is one time.
08:36 One instance where they gain the upper hand and you have to replay a section.
08:40 After that, it's enough to make you approach these things with extreme prejudice and ferocity.
08:50 Which Zelda enemy annoys you to no end?
