00:19 China split the two-Filipinos convicted of drug trafficking on November 24.
00:28 In 2013, the two were arrested after being caught in guandong and sentenced in 2016.
00:38 The DFA said they tried to appeal the sentence of the Chinese government several times but it was not approved.
00:45 Following the split, the government's representative, Rufus Rodriguez,
00:51 also split the Chinese who are under the Philippines' drug control because of illegal drug trade.
00:56 Rodriguez asked the Congress to pass House Bill 2459,
01:01 which is a far-reaching measure of severe punishment,
01:04 including the death of the Chinese who are proven to be involved in drug trafficking.
01:09 According to the Bureau of Corrections,
01:12 of the 369 Chinese who are under the country's control,
01:16 205 or more than half are Chinese.
01:19 But the death penalty was abolished in the country in 2006.
01:23 That's why the law needs to be passed to bring it back.
01:27 That's why Surigao Del Norte, representative of Ace Barbers,
01:31 the chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs,
01:34 said House Bill 1543 should be passed,
01:37 which brings back the death penalty for the criminals.
01:41 He has been advocating this for a long time and not as a retaliation for China's split with the two Filipinos.
