00:00 So this Saturday down here at the skate park we are going to be in collaboration with Big
00:10 Heart, an arts based social change organisation, bringing some professional skaters from the
00:15 mainland heading down.
00:16 They've been doing a few visits on the north west coast and they'll be coming in to Launceston
00:23 to engage with our skating community but also our more broader community, doing some workshops
00:28 and doing some demos and actually just giving everyone a chance to get in and have some
00:32 fun.
00:33 There might be a few youth in Launceston that have maybe thought about skating but don't
00:37 have the skill set or maybe not the equipment.
00:38 We've got a few free giveaways as well on the day so really looking to pull the community
00:44 together, let them connect with one another and hopefully see if this can eventuate into
00:49 future events.
00:50 Here at Ravenswood we'll be in collaboration with the City Missions Snagchat.
00:55 They're up at the Ravenswood skate park two Fridays a month so we've decided to crash
01:01 their party, take a few of the skaters up while they're in town and utilise this opportunity
01:06 to give maybe some people in the northern suburbs who can't make it down.
01:10 So this is another City of Launceston collaboration coming around, just so happens to be, based
01:16 around recreation and sport with the skateboarding, the scootering and the BMXing.
01:20 We're obviously seeing heavy investment in this at the moment and to go with a recently
01:26 acquired grant with the state, the City of Launceston will be spending up to a million
01:30 dollars on our skate park and also our pump track.
01:34 So to think what that brings forward for our next generation, our younger generations,
01:39 it's about ensuring that they're engaged and finding opportunities to engage not just with
01:44 their peers but also as mentioned the service providers that jump on board these sort of
01:48 events and the positive outcomes that are delivered through those points of conversation.
