00:14 romantic comedy movies are ridiculous, saying quote, "I think it's unfortunate anyone would

00:20 feel that way. I had a great time making those movies, no matter what anyone says."

00:25 Joey and Jacob co-starred as Elle Evans and Noah Flynn in three Kissing Booth movies between 2018

00:32 and 2021. They also dated for over a year leading up to the film's release.

00:36 In November 2023, Jacob revealed to GQ that he quote, "didn't want to make those movies

00:43 before I made those movies," adding, "Those movies are ridiculous. They're not universal.

00:49 They're an escape." In the interview, he said that signing on to those movies almost felt like

00:54 a trap because, "It can become 15 for them, none for you. You have no original ideas and you're

01:00 dead inside, so it's a fine dance." When responding to comments that he is quote, "pretentious" about

01:06 the movies that helped him become an overnight sensation, he said, "How is caring about your

01:11 output pretentious? But not caring and knowingly feeding people s--t, knowing that you're making

01:16 money off of people's time, which is literally the most valuable thing that they have. How is

01:20 that the cool thing?" But Joey is not the only Kissing Booth cast member who was disappointed

01:25 by Jacob's comments. Taylor Zakhar Perez, who appeared in two sequels, had a different reaction

01:31 to the movies at a GQ Men of the Year party on November 16th, telling Variety quote, "I thought

01:36 it was a shame because to my knowledge everybody else had such a wonderful experience. It's a shame

01:42 that was his experience on the set, especially when those movies came out. It was a time when

01:47 we really needed something like that." Adding, "I guess the silver lining is he still made people

01:52 laugh and feel good." As for if fans can expect there to be a fourth Kissing Booth, Joey tells

01:57 Variety quote, "If there were to be a fourth installment, it would be picking up where Elle

02:01 and the gang are in their 50s or something, just to drop back in with them and see where they're at."
