Whoopi Goldberg DEFENDS Dolly Parton's Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Outfit(2)
Transcript
00:00 some critics told her to act her age.
00:02 Bite me.
00:03 Whoopi Goldberg is defending Dolly
00:06 Parton. The 68 year old The View
00:08 co-host strongly responded to online
00:11 haters on Monday who criticized the
00:13 country icon's outfit and performance
00:15 during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving
00:17 Day game against the Washington
00:19 Commanders.
00:20 Apparently, my turkey wasn't the only
00:23 subject online that people were hating.
00:25 Seventy seven year old superstar Dolly
00:27 Parton stole the show on Thanksgiving
00:29 at the Cowboys Commanders game dressed
00:31 as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader.
00:33 But some critics told her to act her
00:35 age. Bite me.
00:37 Whoopi's co-host, 55 year old Sunny
00:40 Houston, couldn't help but agree,
00:42 while also wishing she looked as good
00:45 as Dolly does.
00:46 If I look like that in one of them
00:48 cowboy things, I might have everything
00:51 out. I don't know.
00:52 I mean, I don't know if that's his
00:53 belly ring or what, but I want what she
00:56 has.
00:56 Once she looks her age, she does not
00:57 have to act her age.
00:58 Exactly.
00:59 The superstar's onstage outfit mimicked
01:01 the iconic Cowboys cheerleader uniform
01:04 by including a blue long sleeved crop
01:06 top and a matching white vest
01:09 and belted shorts adorned
01:11 with blue stars.
01:12 She also wore a mesh bodysuit
01:14 underneath the ensemble that sparkled
01:16 just as much as her performances of
01:18 Jolene and a cover of Queen's
01:21 We Are the Champions.
01:22 Dolly has always been known for her
01:23 sparkling personality on the inside
01:25 and out, especially making
01:27 bold statements with her fashion.
01:29 AXIS Hollywood's Kit Hoover sat down
01:31 with the country songstress back in
01:33 October to discuss her new book
01:35 Behind the Seams, My Life
01:37 in Rhinestones.
01:38 And she described her sense of style
01:40 while also reflecting on some of her
01:42 past iconic looks.
01:44 My favorite thing about the book,
01:46 Dolly, is you've known exactly
01:48 who you are from since you were
01:50 little. How would you describe your
01:51 signature style?
01:52 Oh, I'm gaudy, I guess.
01:54 And now it's fashionable gaud,
01:57 you know, or a little more defined
01:59 gaud, but gaud just the same.
02:01 I just like a lot when they came out
02:03 with that saying, "Less is more."
02:05 I thought, "Oh, that does not apply
02:07 to me."
02:08 Well, we said, "I look totally
02:10 artificial, but I'd like to believe
02:12 that I'm totally real, for it
02:14 counts."
02:15 And Dolly's taken readers behind
02:16 the scenes in her new book that
02:18 spotlights her most unforgettable
02:20 looks from the 1960s until now,
02:22 as well as the woman who had the
02:24 earliest influence on her sense of
02:25 style.
02:26 I was always into the makeup
02:28 and the clothes because I
02:30 was impressed, as I've often said
02:31 about the lady that was considered
02:33 the town tramp in our hometown.
02:36 But I thought she was beautiful
02:37 because she wore red nails,
02:39 red lipstick.
02:40 She had piled up yellow hair,
02:42 short skirts, and she'd twist down
02:45 the street. And I wanted to be
02:46 just like her.
