00:00 Good afternoon friends and folks.
00:02 William Thio here and this is PTV News Now.
00:07 They were among the most coveted hardware or weaponry in the Ukraine's wish list from
00:11 its allies and benefactors this year.
00:14 And they had big plans for it to top-bill Ukraine's planned offensive into Russia this
00:19 year which apparently fizzled out even before it could begin.
00:24 So the Leopard tanks from Germany and Sweden came to pass as a staple in the holding the
00:29 line to keep Ukrainian forces entrenched in their defensive positions instead of its intended
00:34 use to spearhead an aggressive push into Russian territory.
00:39 And the Leopards have done a magnificent job to protect Ukrainian towns and territories
00:44 from falling into Russian hands.
00:46 Some 70 Leopard tanks have been delivered to Ukraine and deployed in various critical
00:51 locations with a dozen reported units disabled or neutralized by Russian forces thus far.
00:58 Meanwhile, the United Nations Chief Secretary General Antonio Guterres is aghast over the
01:05 results of the fighting after the six-day truce condemning Hamas' rocket fire on Israel
01:11 and Israel's carpet bombing and expansion of its offensive to southern Gaza, where dozens
01:17 of innocent Palestinian children and women have been killed over the latest spate of
01:22 indiscriminate bombing by the Israeli Defense Forces.
01:26 In addition, Israeli troops battled furiously with Hamas militants and fighters in southern
01:30 Gaza earlier today in its push to broaden its offensive deeper into the besieged enclave
01:37 with warnings an even more hellish scenario awaits trapped civilians.
01:42 Guterres called on all parties to respect their obligations under international humanitarian
01:48 law and pleaded anew for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.
