00:00 With our busy schedules as moms, wives, girlfriends, students, or employees,
00:04 it's really hard to find time devoted solely to ourselves.
00:08 But we say if you put your minds into it, you can make that little me time happen.
00:13 Trust us ladies, it's okay to be a little bit selfish every once in a while.
00:18 But how can we be fit and fab if we don't have a little time for ourselves, right?
00:21 Yes, definitely. I think it's time to make that fit and fabulous change with us.
00:26 I am Maggie Wilson, and I'm Terelli Carras, and this is Fit and Fab, the ultimate guide to being a better you.
00:32 Reach for the sky.
00:36 Dance to the beat, yeah.
00:41 Pamper yourself.
00:43 Go all out, yeah.
00:48 Be fit, be fab.
00:52 This is your time to be all that.
00:56 Be fit, be fab.
01:00 This is your time to be all that.
01:06 You wouldn't want to miss out on tonight's Fit and Fab lineup,
01:09 from ultimate frisbee to plus-size fashion,
01:12 to workouts you didn't really think were workouts, to choosing the right pair of jeans.
01:16 And to start off the show, Maggie and I actually tried ultimate frisbee.
01:20 When I say frisbee, I think dog. What about you, Maggie?
01:22 I think the beach, the dog, and me.
01:26 But have you ever actually tried ultimate frisbee?
01:28 Actually, yes, I've heard of it. A bunch of my friends actually play it,
01:31 but I've never really gotten around to trying it myself. Have you?
01:34 Me neither. I see people play it in the UP Sunken Garden, but as far as I go, I just watch them play.
01:39 But Maggie and I tried the sport, but lo and behold, when we tried it,
01:43 it was actually much more difficult than we expected.
01:45 I thought it was just a match.
01:47 Indeed. There's a lot of running involved, a lot of hand coordination, trying to catch the disc,
01:52 even if you have to dive for it.
01:53 So, does Dura and I have what it takes to play this fast, furious, and ultimate frisbee sport?
01:59 Watch this.
02:00 Dura, are you ready for an ultimate sport adventure?
02:13 Definitely, Maggie, and so should all our fabulous ladies out there.
02:17 This is Ultimate Frisbee!
02:19 Ultimate disc, or frisbee, was invented in the '70s in the U.S.
02:24 It arrived in the Philippines maybe about six or seven years ago.
02:29 The expat brought it here.
02:31 The sport of ultimate is a non-contact sport that incorporates disciplines from basketball, football, and soccer.
02:40 Ultimate frisbee is played on a regulation field of 70 yards by 40 yards, with end zones of 25 yards deep.
02:47 Pretty much similar in size to an American football field.
02:50 The point of the game is to score by catching the disc in the end zone.
02:54 You can't run with it, so you can only throw. Once you catch it, you gotta stop.
02:58 And we don't have referees, so if you're on defense and you're marking, marking means you're defending a person.
03:05 If you're marking someone, you have to count up to 10.
03:08 So the person on offense has 10 counts to release the disc.
03:13 So if I finish counting up to 10 and she still has the disc, it's a turnover.
03:19 And since Ultimate is a self-refereeing sport, players are encouraged to have the spirit of the game,
03:25 which stresses sportsmanship, fair play. Honesty is definitely the best policy in this emerging sport.
03:33 My stamina has improved and endurance.
03:38 It's fun. I like playing with my friends and it improves my health and cardio.
03:43 It helps me balance my lifestyle. It's not just work. At least, more or less, it relieves stress.
03:50 And since frisbee involves a lot of throwing and catching, it's imperative to master these skills to be able to play the game properly.
03:59 So before I teach you how to throw, I need to teach you how to catch.
04:03 Okay.
04:04 So, pretty easy.
04:07 The standard catch is the pancake.
04:11 Okay, pancake catch.
04:13 So when you see a catch it with your mouth.
04:14 Like a dog.
04:15 Yeah, like a dog.
04:16 But like, not fancy.
04:17 So, it's like this.
04:19 Okay.
04:20 Pancake catch.
04:21 Or, if you can, catch it with one hand.
04:24 Okay.
04:25 A two-handed pancake catch is the safest and surest way to catching the disc.
04:30 And now that we got that covered, it's time to move on to more complicated matters.
04:34 The throw.
04:37 Are there different types of throws?
04:39 There are three types of throws.
04:41 Like in racket sports, you have a forehand, there's a backhand, and then there are overhead throws.
04:47 So I'll teach you first how to throw a backhand.
04:49 Okay.
04:50 Holding a backhand, it's like holding a fan.
04:54 So just imagine, you grip it like this.
04:56 We can do that.
04:58 This is obviously my disc.
05:00 So, like that.
05:02 And then just, it feels like a fan.
05:05 Okay.
05:06 Like in basketball, do you guys see?
05:08 No.
05:09 No, no, no.
05:10 No, no, no.
05:11 Scrabble.
05:12 Scrabble.
05:13 So, in basketball, there's a pivot foot like this.
05:15 There's a foot that you can move.
05:17 So, you establish a pivot foot.
05:19 A pivot foot?
05:20 So, this is your pivot foot.
05:22 And if you want to pass to me over there or to Maggie over there, you step forward and
05:28 then deal a card.
05:30 Don't be too strong.
05:32 Pancake Maggie.
05:33 There you go.
05:34 Ready to wrap?
05:35 Pancake.
05:36 Oh, wow.
05:37 You guys are natural.
05:38 Yay.
05:39 So, forehand, this is a bit tricky.
05:40 So, backhand is like this, right?
05:41 Forehand is like this.
05:42 You put it in the middle of your thumb and then you relax your two fingers here.
05:43 Some do it like this.
05:44 Some do it like that.
05:45 So, same pivot foot is steady and then I step.
05:46 I lean to my right and then I flick it.
05:47 So, you're going to do it like this.
05:48 So, you're going to do it like this.
05:49 So, you're going to do it like this.
05:50 So, you're going to do it like this.
05:51 So, you're going to do it like this.
05:52 So, you're going to do it like this.
05:53 So, you're going to do it like this.
05:54 So, you're going to do it like this.
06:15 So, instead of stepping to the right, you step back and then you release it on top of
06:37 your head.
06:38 Okay.
06:39 So, it doesn't matter if it spins the other way?
06:40 Like, it's upside down?
06:41 Yeah, you're supposed to catch it like this.
06:42 Oh, okay.
06:43 Try to catch an egg.
06:44 The reason why we have different throws is because there's somebody guarding you, right?
06:48 So, for example, I'm guarding Tere this way.
06:51 So, the only throw she can make is a forehand.
06:54 If I'm guarding her this way, the only throw she can make is a backhand.
06:58 And if I'm guarding her face up, she can throw a overhand.
07:03 Let's say I'm against Tere and she's offense, I'm defense.
07:07 She throws the disc.
07:08 What if I catch it?
07:09 So, it's ours now?
07:10 Yes.
07:11 It's mine now?
07:12 Yes.
07:13 So, we can't do--
07:14 After the word "if," "what if" she catches it.
07:16 What if?
07:17 What if?
07:18 If I can catch it.
07:19 I'm gonna teach you moves so you can do it later.
07:20 Just kidding.
07:21 So, what we can't do is strip it.
07:22 Like, for example, she's holding it.
07:23 We can't.
07:24 Yeah.
07:25 Ah, okay.
07:26 In football, we can't.
07:27 We can't.
07:28 Right?
07:29 Stealing a ball.
07:30 This is not allowed.
07:31 But as soon as she releases it, we can like--
07:34 First time to play.
07:35 As in actual play.
07:36 Not just playing.
07:37 So, we tried the simple throw and catch earlier.
07:40 I tried the freestyle frisbee but I think it's very different.
07:43 So, let's see.
07:44 Our teammates will be good, right?
07:46 I think I can do it.
07:48 And if you can't play, just play.
07:51 Ultimate players require an unmatched degree of speed, stamina, and agility, as well as mastering the different skills.
08:02 That's why we're so excited about the supergirls of frisbee.
08:05 But we can do it, right?
08:08 We can do it, right?
08:09 I'll use cards.
08:13 Yay!
08:14 Ready?
08:15 Oh, my God.
08:16 Yay!
08:32 I scored!
08:33 Freestyle!
08:34 So, this is how beauty queens run.
08:36 Hurry, Mags!
08:38 That's a true fact.
08:39 Yay! I scored, too!
08:46 Ultimate may be tiring, especially for us newbies.
08:51 But you can't deny the fact that it's fun, especially because of all the new friends you make through the game.
08:57 Did you guys have fun?
08:58 Yes, we did.
08:59 So, Dara, did you enjoy playing Ultimate Frisbee as much as I did?
09:03 I think I enjoyed it more.
09:05 Really?
09:06 It was really, really, really fun.
09:08 We had a great time.
09:09 A lot of running, great cardio workouts.
09:11 Exactly.
09:12 And Maggia and I are in agreement that it's easier to jump than to throw a frisbee.
09:17 Compared to the other girls, how long have they been playing?
09:19 They've been playing for years.
09:20 That's why they're really good.
09:21 That's why we should also play back and forth so that we can get better.
09:25 With a great competitive community spirit, that's why it's really fun to play Ultimate Frisbee.
09:30 And that is why we encourage you to pick up that disc, head for the park, and try out this up-and-coming sport yourself.
09:36 And with that, Fit and Fab will be right back.
09:38 Fashion should be for all sizes.
09:45 And now, plus-size women can bring out their inner fashionistas.
09:49 Plus-size fashion is up next on Fit and Fab.
09:52 And later, tired of going to the gym?
09:55 Get a great workout with a few items you can find at home.
09:58 Stay tuned.
09:59 Stay tuned.
10:00 Fashion is for everyone of all shapes and sizes.
10:05 And nowadays, you don't have to be a size zero to unleash the fashion diva in you.
10:10 There are a number of plus-size brands out there to give those women with real curves more options on what's in and what's not.
10:17 So Fit and Fab scoured the metro to find the best and flattering plus-size brands out there.
10:27 Fashion is for every girl of every age, every color, and every shape.
10:31 And being fabulously fashionable shouldn't be impossible, even if you're on the rounder or heavier side.
10:37 I think it's because most clothing is made for the petite, smaller women.
10:42 But I think on the positive side, now more and more plus-size stores are out there.
10:50 They really specialize on big sizes.
10:52 Not being able to dress to express themselves.
10:56 Being called "large" in a room full of small sizes.
10:59 These are just some of the reasons why some plus-size women may feel larger and unsure about themselves.
11:05 Many just hide their bodies under large and dull baggy clothes.
11:09 But really, should size be a factor in being fashionable?
11:13 Proving that size shouldn't matter in looking good and feeling great is fashion model, former VJ, and a really good friend of mine, Nicole Fonachier.
11:22 We remember Nicole as a bubbly, energetic, and standout VJ.
11:27 Her fashion style is as unique, colorful, and lively as her personality.
11:31 And since her MTV Philippines stint, countless pictorials, fashion shoots, and endorsements poured in proving that beauty isn't limited to a size zero.
11:40 I had a lot of projects that entire year that I was doing that I was a VJ.
11:45 And it really, really shocked me that they wanted me to model for them.
11:49 And all these plus-size brands wanted me to be a part of their company.
11:53 Or they'd give me clothes to wear for when I was hosting.
11:57 Nicole's love for fashion is evident in her wide collection of clothes, shoes, and bags.
12:02 Start off with a favorite, favorite dress that I have.
12:06 This one was made by a very good friend, Rompos Estacha.
12:10 So I always wear it. I mean, I wear it when I host.
12:13 And it's something that really flatters me.
12:16 It flatters my figure.
12:18 I think any person cannot live without the perfect crisp white shirt.
12:23 Every time I'm feeling a little classy, I put on my crisp white shirt with pearls and jeans.
12:32 And any color shoes.
12:34 As I was saying, every time you feel bored with what you're wearing, you always just have to put your stuff in a very cute bag.
12:42 Para stylish ka na. Diba? Like this one, which I got from Bicol.
12:46 With dozens of designs in her closet, hundreds of clothes she's endorsed,
12:51 Nicole's number one fashion tip for plus-size ladies like herself?
12:54 I'm an advocate of loving yourself no matter how you look.
12:59 It's not just about being plus-size. There are a lot of insecurities out there.
13:04 So it's more about accepting yourself for who you are.
13:07 Sigh. If only every plus-size woman out there was as confident and as enlightened as Nicole,
13:13 the world would be a happier place.
13:16 Meet Katrina, bigger than most average girls.
13:19 She's admittedly spent countless hours going through fashion magazines,
13:23 wishing she had that perfect model body so she can wear the latest fashion trends.
13:28 I like the design. Of course, it should follow the trend.
13:31 But the trend is also about matching.
13:34 Especially for me, because I'm plus-size.
13:36 So I need to wear what really suits me.
13:40 And I'm comfortable.
13:42 Most fashion lines that have size is only up to XL.
13:46 That's why plus-size women like Katrina, who's a double XL, are left with few options.
13:51 It's hard to find, especially the designs I like.
13:55 There's no size for me.
13:59 Knowing your body type and dressing accordingly may be the key to being fashionable,
14:04 whether it is you're small, medium, large, or larger.
14:07 So we took Katrina to a store where she can find some tips and trends, especially for plus-size women.
14:12 Tubby is just one of the slew of clothing lines slowly emerging in the Philippine fashion scene.
14:21 Their shirts, blouses, jeans, and dresses are especially designed, cut, and sewn for the girls on the plus-side.
14:29 The direction of Tubby right now at present is, what fits the girls' needs, we need to apply to Tubby.
14:39 Of course, in different designs.
14:41 Here, you can't find a single dull, plain, boring, or baggy style of clothing.
14:47 Instead, the store screams with bold, colorful, and sexy outfits,
14:51 encouraging ladies to embrace, and yes, flaunt those larger-than-life curves.
14:58 Who says bigger girls can't wear bright colors?
15:01 Undeniably, black and dark brown is very slimming, but you don't have to be limited to only those two colors.
15:08 A general rule is that light colors expand and dark colors reduce.
15:14 So you can actually wear bright colors, just choose which.
15:18 Prints and designs that are conventionally thought of as "for the thin only" styles are proudly displayed here.
15:25 And since the stripes are in print, you'll find no shortage of that here.
15:30 Pinstripes, I think a good rule is to elongate the silhouette.
15:33 Anything that makes you look longer and taller is good.
15:37 So, things like pinstripes can be slimming, but not horizontal stripes because they will expand.
15:44 But don't be limited to just plain stripes.
15:47 Big girls can also wear different prints, even floral.
15:51 Just be careful because the bigger the print, the bigger you will look.
15:55 For pants, trade those baggy ones for these fit ones.
15:59 The most common mistake that plus-size women have is that they wear clothes that are either too loose or too tight.
16:07 Just wear clothes that skim the body, but don't bunch up or show parts of you that you don't want to show.
16:16 Big girls can go daring too. If sleeveless shirts are in, plus-size girls can definitely wear them.
16:22 We created a collection of sleeveless shirts.
16:26 Sexy type, but you can cover your big, chubby breasts.
16:32 Then you need to put some blazers.
16:35 Try and find clothes that fit you well.
16:39 And just be happy, just be happy.
16:42 I think the better you look, the happier you will feel inside.
16:46 As for Katrina, she can't believe that she can actually wear the designs she sees in magazines and other stores for petite ladies.
16:54 And knowing that she can be as fashionable, she's on to the dressing room.
16:58 Kat's body type is a big bottom.
17:02 She's fat here, tights and abdomen.
17:06 So we need to give her the right designs.
17:10 When it comes to gimmicks, teenagers usually want something sexy.
17:16 So to cover her arms, this is what I'm talking about.
17:20 We create a collection of designs to cover this.
17:26 I want her to use light colors because of her age.
17:32 And for her upper body, we'll give her a striped top.
17:40 It matches the pants, and it matches the blazer.
17:44 So she'll look slimmer.
17:47 To look more smart, a little bit skinny, and presentable.
17:52 I'm happy.
17:54 It shows because I can see designs that will fit my size.
18:02 So with the right cut, shape, and design, being a plus size shouldn't be a problem no more.
18:15 So if you're a plus size woman, go ahead, celebrate your curves, and have fun being fab.
18:20 [music]
18:24 You don't have to go to the gym to get a good workout.
18:27 With just a few things you can find at home, you can definitely break a sweat.
18:31 Coming up next, and later, buying the perfect pair of jeans made easy, fit, and fab style.
18:37 You wouldn't want to miss it.
18:39 [music]
18:41 Mags, do you know that video games that we use at home for work can be used in our workout routines?
18:48 I don't think so. I know that PlayStation only moves its thumbs.
18:51 There's also Dance Dance Revolution. Have you tried it?
18:54 Oh, yeah.
18:55 And Wii, have you heard of that?
18:57 I tried Wii. I tried playing tennis and boxing on Wii. It's really tiring.
19:01 Oh, believe me, I tried out some games that kiddies play that we adults can use in our workout routines.
19:06 Don't believe me? Watch this.
19:09 [music]
19:13 Want to achieve that perfect body shape and be fit?
19:16 Well, the first thing that would probably come to mind would be to head for the gym.
19:20 But did you know that you can have that perfectly shaped body, toned muscles,
19:24 have great fun in a complete full-body workout, in the comfort of your own home?
19:31 In fact, you don't even need a set of weights or gym equipment in the house.
19:36 You can get a great workout with just a few things you can easily find at home.
19:40 There are many reasons, benefits, if you work out at home.
19:44 First of all, if you are a busy person, of course, it's more accessible and easy.
19:48 You don't have to go out. In traffic now, there's less hassle.
19:52 The convenience of being at home, your privacy, that's the luxury of comfort.
20:02 This may look like just a simple ball, but it can actually function as a tool to help you get fit.
20:08 Yes, balls aren't just for ball sports.
20:11 Weighted or medicine balls are gym favorites because they tone and strengthen your muscles.
20:16 If you don't have them at home, don't fret.
20:19 Just pick up that basketball or soccer ball lying around and put them to good use.
20:24 And for our first exercise, lunges.
20:28 Bring your right foot forward and bend it while forming a 90-degree angle.
20:36 Make sure that your left foot also bends into a 90-degree angle without your knees touching the ground.
20:42 Then twist your body towards your right side, contracting your abs or core.
20:47 And when you're done with one side, you can work the other.
20:50 Three sets of 15 to 20 reps and 30-second intervals should do wonders for your balance, stability, and lower body strength.
20:59 A ball exercise that targets your arms, legs, and core is the squat.
21:04 Hold the ball in front of you while slowly lowering down your body in a squat position.
21:09 Then raise the ball upward.
21:11 Do this for three 15 to 20-rep sets with a 30-second interval between them.
21:18 And if you want to work out those flab-prone abdominals, ab crunches will definitely do the trick.
21:24 In a sit-up position, hold the ball upward while slowly raising your shoulder above the floor.
21:30 I felt that it was an abdominal exercise and I felt the need to contract my abs.
21:37 Considering that I'm only doing a small amount of elevation, I only have to raise my shoulders a little.
21:42 So I really need to suck in my abs to work out.
21:45 Otherwise, it's like my stomach has no sense. It won't do its purpose.
21:49 Got a jump rope lying around the house?
21:52 It's an effective way to burn fat, increase stamina, improve coordination and firm muscles, especially your shoulders, arms, and legs.
22:01 We do jump rope at least three rounds.
22:04 Three rounds meaning three minutes per round.
22:07 And then per round, I think I lose about 40 calories.
22:14 And then for three rounds, it would sum up to 120 calories.
22:22 Start with short 15-20 second bouts of jumping interspersed with 30-40 seconds of complete rest or light marching in place.
22:30 Repeat this pattern 5-10 times.
22:33 As your stamina increases, lengthen your jump bouts and shorten your rests.
22:38 As usual, I can't complete it all.
22:42 But what's good about jump rope is that it's not a contest.
22:45 You just have to repeat it. And I think it's good that I'm motivated to keep doing it.
22:52 It all adds up to a lot of repetition.
22:55 I really worked out well.
22:57 Who would say that this hula hoop is just a game for kids?
23:00 Because now it's one of your best tools towards that sexier and toned body.
23:04 Hula hooping isn't just all play.
23:07 It can also be a fun, low-impact exercise that targets your core area and improves coordination and flexibility.
23:14 What's important here, my coach told me, is that you have to have a stomach in so that your workout doubles.
23:22 Believe it or not, indulging in this childhood activity for 15-20 minutes can make you reap many fitness benefits.
23:30 I used it to lose weight and to sculpt my body for Miss Universe.
23:35 What else can you find around the house that you can use for your workout?
23:39 Your computer gaming device.
23:42 Yes, nowadays playing computer games won't necessarily turn you into a couch potato.
23:48 With a new revolution in technology, you can now enjoy the fun and fit benefits of the Wii.
23:57 Wii technology may look like any ordinary video game.
24:03 However, it's not just your fingers that you'll be using, but your whole body as well.
24:08 It's also a cardiovascular workout, so you improve also your cardiovascular endurance.
24:14 And then, since it's a game, you're having fun while you're doing it.
24:20 Actually, it's a pretty good workout.
24:22 Because, yeah, if you're full from eating or after a while, you know, you want to burn some calories, you need to do the Wii.
24:28 And then, it's also good if you have a lot of friends.
24:31 Because it's bonding. It's like a really bonding time.
24:35 This is good. This is just a Wii. No, I'm sure this is the one.
24:39 And I'm the one who's getting hit.
24:42 Ouch, that hurts.
24:46 There are a variety of Wii sports to choose from, from tennis to bowling to boxing.
24:51 I think the Wii is a very good fitness tool.
24:55 It's a very new fitness tool.
24:57 And even if you think it's just a video game or something, it's very physical.
25:01 You can really move. You have footwork, although it's minimal for the sports that I tried.
25:06 But the workout in ARMS is really a total workout.
25:10 And if you want to take your video game workout to the next level, why not plug in Dance Dance Revolution in your PlayStation?
25:17 Because your focus is on the screen, right?
25:22 The patterns you're following.
25:25 So you don't really notice your fatigue.
25:28 And then if you don't notice your fatigue, you'll be doing the activity longer.
25:35 And then the longer you do an activity, of course, the more calories you burn.
25:39 For at least an hour of dancing and exercising, you can burn almost 250 to 350 calories.
25:49 Who knew you could get a great aerobic exercise from a video game?
25:53 So who says you can't be at your best even when in the house?
25:57 Just remember these fun workouts to amp up your calorie burn at home.
26:01 Tara, I didn't know you could get a great workout by just hula hooping.
26:05 Of course! That's what I actually used when I was training for Miss Universe.
26:08 Really?
26:09 Yes, because it's a different level.
26:10 My hula hoop is made of steel. There's sand inside. There's weight.
26:13 Isn't that hard?
26:14 It's hard, actually. It's like you're really building your abs.
26:16 How about the Wii? Did you have fun playing that?
26:18 I really enjoyed the Wii. I never imagined I'd enjoy the Wii.
26:22 So would you do it again?
26:23 Of course!
26:24 It's really fun. It's a tennis style. Not a tennis ball, but I had a great time.
26:28 Wow! These games definitely encourage you to have fun while working out or working out while having fun.
26:33 Either way, you'll reap your fitness rewards by playing harder.
26:37 Fit and Fab will be right back.
26:38 Clueless about what pair of jeans is perfect for your body?
26:46 Fit and Fab will show you how to kiss your denim blues goodbye.
26:49 Coming up next, and later, to eat or not to eat.
26:53 Before and after a workout, that is.
26:55 The experts set this workout dilemma straight in tonight's Q&A.
26:59 Stay tuned.
27:00 So, Tara, is it so hard for you to find the perfect pair of jeans?
27:07 Actually, yes, Maggie. I only have a few jeans that fit me really well.
27:12 You know what? I must agree. It is a nightmare for me to buy jeans because my legs are long, right?
27:16 And we're in the Philippines. It's so hard for me to buy jeans. That's why I'm wearing shorts.
27:20 It's not just that we're wearing shorts. It's just that we're having a hard time finding jeans.
27:24 So, has finding the perfect pair of jeans eluded you all this time?
27:28 Kiss your denim blues goodbye with our Fab Guide on finding the perfect pair of denims.
27:45 I bet you will agree that this is one of the most comfy pieces in our closet.
27:50 Our good old pair of jeans.
27:52 Often, we wear it wherever, whenever, with whichever top.
27:58 There are so many.
28:01 I wear it maybe five times a week.
28:07 It depends because I walk everyday. I mostly wear jeans.
28:14 It can be worn in any gathering.
28:18 And you can wear it if you want to lay back your fashion or style for the day.
28:23 If you want to be fashionable, it's okay.
28:26 So, there. It's very versatile.
28:29 It's comfortable. I don't have to worry about my posture if I'm going to slip or not.
28:41 I'm always on the go. I always have to go to places and be somewhere all the time.
28:47 So, it keeps me comfy. At the same time, I can style it with different tops.
28:53 But sadly, even if your jeans fit your flair for the day, it might not exactly fit you.
28:59 Because my butt is a bit flat. It's hard to find something that emphasizes.
29:09 In terms of my body, I have big thighs.
29:13 So, I can't find jeans that perfectly fit my legs.
29:20 It's hard to find jeans that fit my crotch or my bottom.
29:27 Because I'm not that tall. I'm rather short.
29:30 And even if you think everything fits you perfectly, you still need to find that it fit.
29:36 I have almost all styles.
29:39 Actually, I thought that since I'm tall, all kinds of jeans fit me.
29:45 Since my body doesn't have many problems.
29:51 And since I'm tall, I thought that all kinds of jeans fit me.
30:01 So, if you're stuck in a denim dilemma, let our genius experts drive away those blues.
30:07 They say that there is only one secret to the perfect pair of jeans.
30:15 Girls or women tend to try a lot of trends.
30:20 They want to try what's hot or what's new.
30:23 But it doesn't necessarily mean that that might fit you.
30:27 So, knowing your body type, it really starts there.
30:31 A good fitting jeans will contour your body.
30:34 So, it should hug you in the right places.
30:36 It should flatter your curves.
30:38 Ladies, get ready to jot down our quick perfect fits for the four most common body types.
30:44 So, petite, what looks good on you are jeans that are fitted or those who have stretch.
30:56 Because they tend to elongate your body.
30:59 Straight and semi-bootcut jeans also look good on petite girls.
31:03 Next in our list, the tall and slender are those with a lanky body frame.
31:09 So, the perfect pair for you is probably a cigarette cut or a tapered one.
31:16 Because this one falls near the house.
31:19 And then this also gives you the illusion that you have a wide hip.
31:25 And gives you the illusion that you have curves.
31:28 A bootcut would also be best for this kind of body type to balance her proportion.
31:33 You should avoid anything that is too baggy, too loose, or too skinny.
31:38 Because too skinny will make your legs appear skinnier.
31:43 Moving down our list of body types, the curvy.
31:47 The perfect pair is to get one that is high waist because it actually hides your midsection.
31:55 The perfect style for you is bootcut.
31:57 This is body hugging.
31:59 Quite tight on the mid-hip area so it really contours your shape down there.
32:05 But on the bottom, it just flares and it is more relaxed.
32:09 So, the tendency is it balances out your proportions.
32:13 Straight cut jeans are also perfect for this body type because it elongates the legs.
32:19 And last but not least, the apple shape.
32:22 The apple is basically those girls who have a wide shoulder and who are fuller on the bust and the hip and upper back area.
32:33 So, basically what you want to do is to balance out your lower body because it is more slim.
32:39 So, what you do is you invest on a wide leg because it sort of fills out your lower half.
32:49 And a straight cut would also be perfect for you.
32:53 You can opt for a low cut, low rise, and tight-fitting jeans because it will really emphasize your curves.
33:01 With those tips at hand, we took Hannah, Arianne, Lovette, and Shai for a quickity quick fix.
33:07 [Music]
33:13 And not only did they get the right cut, we managed to juice out more secret from the geniuses.
33:19 [Music]
33:23 They say that color and details like pockets and stitches all come together to give you your perfect denim fit.
33:31 [Music]
33:38 This is the one that I'm wearing right now. It's skinny but it's a little bit low.
33:45 So, when you wear heels later, it gives you that two inches of additional height.
33:51 [Music]
33:53 We Filipinos, we can't really live without jeans.
33:56 Even in the summer, we still wear pants every day. When we go out, we wear pants.
34:01 So, I guess, since it's something that we use every day, why not make the most out of it?
34:06 Make it a fashion statement that we look good in it, aside from it being functional.
34:12 [Music]
34:17 A boot cut looks good on you. It balances this portion. And, of course, it has a more formal effect.
34:25 What you notice now, Gal, are those extra bulges, your bulge here.
34:31 If you notice, the lines of this jeans are just a little bit low.
34:35 See these lines? The bulges here are a little bit lessened.
34:42 But, look at the effect of the area behind it.
34:46 Although it has a little bit of bling, but then again, the stitching is not that deep.
34:52 You won't see any cross-stitches. So, that helps a lot also.
34:58 But still, it gives you that idea of a full body.
35:02 [Music]
35:04 For every person, they have their own style.
35:07 It's not all about what's popular. You have to follow that.
35:12 You have to make sure that that style fits for you.
35:17 So that it comes out better and you can wear it.
35:20 [Music]
35:26 See, as I said, the details like this gives you that extra proportion of what we're trying to achieve.
35:36 This rise is better than the previous one.
35:41 And then, just to emphasize this part, this part needs to be tighter.
35:46 Even though the legs part is already forming, but at the back, we don't need to make it too loose.
35:54 This is just right. That's it.
35:57 Because if the portion is loose like this, the cord will be more loose.
36:02 If you tighten it up a bit, you'll get a puff.
36:08 Even at the back, you can see that. Now, this is a perfect fit.
36:11 [Music]
36:14 It takes me a long time to think about what I'm going to buy for my next jeans if it really fits my body.
36:21 [Music]
36:27 And then, as tighter now on this part, we're going to emphasize the ties.
36:35 So, it's more well-proportioned.
36:38 Even the waist, the rise is higher as opposed to the one she's wearing that's a bit lower.
36:45 And as I've said, skinny or bootcut, it's okay with her.
36:49 Even your confidence while you're wearing the perfect fit.
36:55 [Music]
37:00 So, you see, ladies, you don't have to sacrifice fashion for comfort.
37:04 You can be both comfy and trendy whenever, wherever.
37:08 [Music]
37:11 To eat or not to eat, before and after a workout, that is.
37:14 The experts set this workout dilemma straight in tonight's Q&A, up next on Fit and Fab.
37:20 [Music]
37:23 You always say that it's better to eat before working out.
37:26 Actually, you know what? I eat after I work out.
37:28 Really? I'm confused. What is it?
37:30 You know what, A'Korian? I'm not so sure. That's why we turn to the experts for tonight's Fit and Fab Q&A.
37:35 [Music]
37:44 Working out is essential to keep your body fit and healthy.
37:47 I work out at least three times a week so that my body stays fit and that I'm--so that when there's a game, I'm ready.
37:55 But when is the best time to eat? Before or after a workout?
37:59 Usually before I start to work out, that's for breakfast.
38:02 I have buko juice, if not pineapple juice.
38:05 Then I have fruits. I eat fruits first and then I go with the usual cereal or oatmeal.
38:11 I would say, "Kanya-kanya yun eh, whatever works."
38:14 But of course, it is better to eat because your body needs the energy to work out properly.
38:21 Otherwise, in the middle of the workout, mahi-hilo ka, then sayang lang 'di ba?
38:25 Working out doesn't mean you have to starve yourself to get that perfect body.
38:30 You also have to know the basics of how your body works.
38:34 You need to eat before and after working out.
38:37 Krusyal kasi yung mga stages before and after workout.
38:40 Before working out kasi one hour yung allotment natin usually.
38:43 Kung light meal siya, one hour is enough na. Pwede na 'yo.
38:46 Pero kung heavy meal naman siya, at least mga two to three hours before working out.
38:50 [Music]
38:52 So before working out, be sure to get lots of carbs in your body.
38:56 This is achieved by taking in fruits, wheat bread, and drinking lots of juice
39:01 to make sure that your body has enough fuel to cope up with activities for the day.
39:05 There are some people naman, ayaw naman nilang kumain before ng workout kasi nga they feel heavy naman daw.
39:12 Kaya lang, they overdo it naman kasi hindi talaga sila kumakain to the point na naihilo sila sa gitna ng workout nila.
39:18 So, eating before working out is one basic rule that you shouldn't break, ladies.
39:23 What about after working out?
39:25 After workout, krusyal kasi dun sa mga studies na nabasa ko,
39:31 ang ano nila is 45 minutes kasi yun yung time na yung muscles talaga nag-wo-work.
39:37 So you have to replenish those muscles that has been used.
39:40 But don't overdo it. Just because you work your body hard doesn't give you the license to binge.
39:46 Instead, eat foods that replenishes your body.
39:49 Grab a light snack or meal with lots of carbohydrates and protein.
39:53 So whether you do it before or after working out,
39:57 just remember to eat and eat smart to make your workouts beneficial.
40:01 Now you know, and as they say, knowing is half the battle.
40:05 Enjoy your workout!
