00:00 Hi, I'm Maddie Ziegler,
00:01 and this is the Wired Autocomplete Interview.
00:03 This is so weird, I've watched these videos,
00:08 and now holding it in person is really funny.
00:10 What is Maddie Ziegler's job?
00:16 I am a dancer and an actor,
00:19 and a few other things in between.
00:22 What brand does Maddie Ziegler own?
00:27 I don't own a brand.
00:28 I'm trying to think.
00:30 No, I don't own a brand, but not for long.
00:32 No, I'm just kidding, I don't know.
00:34 Hopefully I'll own a brand in the future.
00:35 What is Maddie Ziegler's signature move?
00:38 I feel like it's changed throughout the years.
00:40 I think when I was younger, I did this switch leap,
00:44 which I feel like if anyone has seen it
00:46 on the show that I was on growing up.
00:48 But I think what became more signature
00:50 was when I pulled my eye in the chandelier dance.
00:54 I did a thing like that behind the curtain.
00:57 I feel like that was a signature thing.
00:59 What makes Maddie Ziegler unique in the dance world?
01:04 My emotion and the way that I have used characters
01:09 in my different dance pieces is what made me stand out
01:12 to Sia and why I got that job in the first place.
01:15 Who was Maddie Ziegler in "Pretty Little Liars"?
01:21 Oh my gosh, that is such a flashback.
01:23 I don't even know if I had a character name.
01:26 I was like a ghost or a spirit or something.
01:28 That was truly at the time one of the best days of my life
01:31 because I was such a "Pretty Little Liars" fan.
01:33 What has Maddie Ziegler been in?
01:36 I would say more recently, you would know me
01:39 for maybe a film called "The Fallout" that I did,
01:42 or I have a new film coming out called "Fitting In",
01:45 "West Side Story".
01:46 What is Maddie Ziegler favorite song?
01:49 That's like asking a mom to pick her favorite child,
01:52 I feel like.
01:53 I don't know if you could do that.
01:54 I feel like a song that's on heavy rotation
01:57 is "Sweet Thing" by Mary J. Blige.
02:00 She didn't originate the song, I don't think,
02:02 but I think it's her cover.
02:04 Maddie Ziegler, Velma, "Dancing".
02:07 I played Velma in "West Side Story"
02:09 and we got to perform the iconic dance at the gym scene
02:14 from the original film.
02:16 And it was such an incredible moment.
02:18 It was obviously directed by Steven Spielberg
02:20 and it was choreographed by Justin Peck.
02:22 And I was so lucky to work with both of them.
02:24 I think six or seven days to film just that one dance scene.
02:27 It was a huge production.
02:29 What makeup does Maddie Ziegler,
02:32 I'm scared where this is going, use?
02:34 Oh, I use so many different brands of makeup.
02:37 I think there's so many different amazing products
02:39 for different things.
02:40 I think Charlotte Tilbury is great.
02:42 Say Beauty is great.
02:43 Hourglass.
02:45 I have a bunch of different favorites for sure.
02:47 What is Maddie Ziegler's zodiac sign?
02:50 I'm a Libra.
02:51 I'm like not super into signs,
02:53 but when people who are and they know that I'm a Libra,
02:56 they're like, "That makes so much sense."
02:57 Traits of a Libra are just like super go with the flow,
03:00 pretty calm, indecisive, which I'm all those things.
03:03 When did Maddie Ziegler start dancing?
03:07 I started dancing when I was two years old
03:09 and I started competitively dancing when I was four.
03:11 So real early.
03:13 When was Maddie Ziegler on "Dancing with the Stars"?
03:17 That was weird.
03:18 I did not know that was gonna happen.
03:19 I performed on "Dancing with the Stars" a few times.
03:21 I did a performance with Sia and Alison Holker,
03:25 who's an incredible dancer.
03:26 And then I think I performed with Josh Groban on there.
03:30 And then I also did a performance with my sister
03:34 when she was on "Dancing with the Stars" Jr.
03:36 I did a little guest trio performance
03:39 and it was so much fun.
03:40 Oh, I also did another performance
03:41 with Alan and Alexis Ren.
03:44 All of the pro dancers on the show are incredible.
03:46 I think Val and Jenna, they're a married couple
03:50 and they're absolutely incredible.
03:52 I would love to train with both of them.
03:54 Is Maddie Ziegler on "Masked Dancer"?
04:00 Wrong Ziegler.
04:01 My sister was, but I wasn't.
04:03 Does Maddie Ziegler like Jenna Ortega?
04:06 I love Jenna Ortega.
04:07 She's one of my greatest friends and she's a little angel.
04:12 And I adore her.
04:14 I adore working with her, but I also just adore
04:16 our friendship and I think it's really special.
04:18 Did Maddie Ziegler perform at Coachella?
04:21 I did.
04:22 I recently performed at Coachella this year
04:24 with Labyrinth and Sia and it was such a fun experience.
04:27 It's so crazy for how many times I've performed.
04:29 I actually get nervous every time before I go on stage,
04:32 but I think it's more excitement nerves.
04:34 It's that adrenaline rush.
04:36 It's just that feeling of like the anticipation
04:38 of going on stage.
04:39 But the second I hit the stage, I'm so comfortable.
04:42 Does Maddie Ziegler have tattoos?
04:45 I do, I have a lot of little tattoos.
04:48 I think I have about seven.
04:51 They're all really small 'cause I wanted to make sure
04:53 that for acting purposes that it would be easier to cover
04:57 'cause it's not fun to have to sit in that makeup chair
04:59 a lot longer to get a bunch of tattoos covered up.
05:02 But also I love the look of dainty ones
05:03 and shout out to Dr. Wu because he's done all my tattoos
05:06 and I love him.
05:07 Because I'm indecisive, I didn't wanna do anything
05:10 that I knew I would regret later in life
05:11 and I know a lot of people do end up regretting
05:13 a lot of their tattoos.
05:15 So I make sure that all of my tattoos are really personal
05:17 and sentimental.
05:18 So the first tattoo I got was my grandma who passed away.
05:21 I got her name in cursive
05:22 and it's also my sister's middle name.
05:24 So it's like a double meaning.
05:25 Maddie Ziegler, "Bloody Hell."
05:28 So "Bloody Hell" is the original title name of a film
05:31 that I did that premiered at South by Southwest.
05:33 And now it is called "Fitting In"
05:35 which will be premiering next year in theaters
05:37 which is so exciting.
05:38 I adore the film and put so much of my heart into it
05:42 and I can't wait for people to see it.
05:44 [door closes]
05:45 Thank you.
05:46 How did Maddie Ziegler became famous, become famous?
05:51 I guess on a reality show when I was seven years old.
05:54 It's so weird 'cause I hate saying that I'm famous.
05:58 I think it's just like a really weird concept for me.
06:01 So yeah, but I guess that's how I got my start.
06:06 How many turns can Maddie Ziegler do?
06:11 It depends because regularly I think I've been able
06:15 to do probably like 10 turns.
06:17 But when you wear a tap shoe, you can actually do more turns.
06:20 So maybe, I don't know, probably 18.
06:23 Like consecutive pirouettes, I can turn for hours.
06:26 How many siblings does Maddie Ziegler have?
06:29 There's lots of those.
06:31 My sister and I are the only blood
06:32 and then there's seven other ones.
06:35 How many crowns does Maddie Ziegler have?
06:39 Oh, I'm sorry.
06:41 I don't know.
06:44 I think I had around like 13, 12 or 13.
06:49 It's so funny because you work your whole life
06:51 when you're younger for these crowns.
06:53 And they're all just like these plastic tiaras
06:55 that actually don't mean anything.
06:56 So it's really funny how much I cared about it
06:57 when I was younger.
06:58 But yeah, they're not important now, but at the time.
07:01 How old was Maddie Ziegler?
07:04 Oh my gosh, I'm sorry.
07:06 In "Chandelier."
07:07 I'm ruining this whole board.
07:08 I was 11 years old when I did "Chandelier."
07:11 What's funny is when I was filming "Chandelier,"
07:13 I remember I flew to LA and did it and had the best time.
07:16 But when I came back to my dance studio,
07:18 I told all my friends,
07:20 "Just this little video that's gonna come out.
07:21 "No one will see it."
07:22 I was like, I wore a blonde wig.
07:23 Like it was really different and weird at the time.
07:27 And I never expected it to blow up the way that it did.
07:30 This is so much easier than I thought it would be.
07:34 I thought, okay.
07:37 Maddie Ziegler costumes.
07:40 I have lots of those.
07:42 My mom has kept almost all of our dance competition
07:45 costumes and she has them in a closet.
07:48 But I'm so happy I have all.
07:49 I'm like, you can never get rid of them.
07:51 Like the important ones, especially,
07:52 because I wanna be able to look back on them
07:54 when I'm older and I don't know.
07:58 I want my kids to see them.
07:59 I don't know if I have a favorite.
08:00 There's so many to choose from.
08:01 A lot of my lyrical solos that I did
08:03 were really beautiful costumes with a lot of rhinestones
08:05 and I liked them a lot.
08:07 Maddie Ziegler imagination palette.
08:10 Yeah, I was so excited to do a makeup collaboration.
08:14 Makeup is one of my absolute favorite things in the world.
08:17 So getting to create my own palette,
08:19 all of the shade names and the colors and the textures
08:22 and just even the whole creative for the shoot
08:26 was so much fun and I had such a great experience.
08:29 When I was creating the shade names,
08:30 I think it was kind of a mixture of playing into
08:33 the concept of the imagination palette.
08:35 And then also I think just a few personal names and things.
08:38 Like I named a shade after my mom, after my sister,
08:41 so stuff like that.
08:42 Maddie Ziegler knee drop.
08:44 That was also a very, I guess, signature move
08:47 that I used to do, which is so funny
08:49 'cause if I did that now, my knees would probably break.
08:51 Basically you start on one leg and dive onto the other leg
08:55 and you land on your knee.
08:56 But the trick is to obviously protect your knee
08:59 and to land more on the side of your hip.
09:01 Maddie Ziegler podcast.
09:03 I had a podcast with my sister called Take 20 for a bit
09:08 and that was really fun.
09:09 We had a great time doing that.
09:10 And then I've had the pleasure of being on
09:14 a few other people's podcasts.
09:15 They're so fun.
09:16 It's such a good way to have a conversation
09:18 and dive into some topics that maybe you wouldn't
09:21 on the everyday basis.
09:23 Maddie Ziegler to all the boys.
09:25 Oh my gosh, this is hilarious.
09:27 I made a little cameo in one of the
09:32 To All The Boys movies.
09:33 I think it was the second film.
09:35 Yeah, I think I played a cheerleader.
09:37 I had one line, but it was fun.
09:38 I love Lana Condor.
09:40 I think she's so cute and sweet and super talented.
09:44 And yeah, it was fun.
09:45 I actually can breathe now 'cause I thought
09:49 that was gonna be way more stressful
09:50 and I thought you guys were gonna expose me
09:52 in a lot of ways.
09:53 It's so interesting that a lot of people
09:55 still wanna know what my favorite signature dance moves are
09:58 and stuff like that.
09:59 I think it's really cool.
10:00 (upbeat music)
10:02 (electronic beeping)
